Announcements / Forum Purge!
11 July, 2013, 11:51:26 AM
Hey All,

It's our yearly house clearing time and we have a whole heap of accounts that need burning. I'll be doing a mass purge shortly, which will require the forums to be put into maintenance temporarily...

Cheers!

'Sup Judges!

So, we've been doing some heavy work on the 2000 AD Store as of late (more will be revealed later I'm sure), but it has not been without its teething pains as always, hence the on-and-off downtime. If you experience any issues, please contact the tech side of the contact form on the store or get hold of me here and I'll try to ignore...err...I mean 'adequately process' anything you find! ;)

Cheers!

Website and Forum / Forum of the future!...?
26 June, 2012, 04:56:48 PM
Right then, a little bit of info on why the forum went away and what's going to happen in the future. I have presented it in the form of a QA for my own amusement. Which wasn't that amusing.

Q: Oi! Where did the forums go?
A: They were taken offline for a security patch and backup. The security patch was only, in part, successful and involved an IP swap for the domain, so downtime unfortunately was unavoidable.

Q: So, what now?
A: Now comes part 2, which will involve a forum migration, purge of users and redundant posts and a re-index.

Q: WHAT!?...does most of that mean?
A: We've done a migration a couple of times before and certainly had our teething issues getting everyones needs sorted, but there's been a definate shift towards needing specific development for 2000 AD over just relying on something that "sort of does the job". That and it's about time this place had a bit of a tidy - there's dust in most of the unmentionables.

Q: But that bit about account purges..?
A: This will be done on an active basis and likely to be along the lines of "If you haven't logged in for over a year" your account will be archived.

Q: Archived?
A: Yeah I'm not actually going to delete any users from a backup and only from the live version of the forums just in case we have any of those "I'm leaving the forum forever but now I'm back" types.

Q: I don't like it. I don't like change. When's this going to happen and can I stay on the old forums?
A: Fairly soon in the grand scheme of things, it has to happen as part of a company-wide security policy that the forums just won't conform to. So you'll have to move with everyone else I'm afraid. However, drama aside, the new set up has some pretty cool stuff.

Q: ...like what?
A: Most here tend to shift towards "Active Topics" and so that should end up being more the focus on the new one right from the get-go. Of course, as always I'm sure we'll have to play around with the functionality a little bit but it's "more there" than this one was. It's also easier to customise bits and bobs which makes our life easier when it comes to updates and added ease when you guys start using it on more than just your PC.

Q: Can I see the new forum before we move?
A: Yup!

Any questions, give us a shout ;)

Welcome to the board / Accounts on Application
01 August, 2011, 02:03:45 PM
Whilst we fully support the principles of free speech, active discussion, and positive disagreement, we feel that to protect the atmosphere of the board from a specific type of abuse, we have to modify the new user registration process.

We will now require an Admin to approve your application and first post before creating an account.

Upon successful application to the 2000 AD Online Forums your account will have certain limitations put in place for a period of time before becoming a fully fledged member.

We're sorry we've had to do this for those of you who are genuinely seeking to become an active member of the 2000 AD Community and hope that we'll have your continued understanding and support in the matter.

Website and Forum / A personal note from... me!
13 July, 2011, 09:53:38 PM
Hey All,

A little note while I sup my rioja...

With all the recent webby ups-and-downs on our part I'd like to say thanks where thanks is due to those that have stood by us (no doubt with considerable patience) while things have sorted themselves out. I can certainly say that seeing all the positive reactions to the recent site launch warmed our little circuitry something fierce! There's only 2 of us (not going for the sob angle, promise ;)) trying to handle 20 sites and various deadlines, so I can only hope we can keep up with your expectations over the coming months and hope we can be there when needed!

So thanks peeps: it's always a pleasure! :D

Award-winning British comic 2000 AD® is delighted to announce Planet Replicas has been granted a licence to produce replica props taken straight from the worlds of 2000 AD's most famous characters — including Judge Dredd.

Soon fans of Dredd, Judge Anderson, Strontium Dog, Sláine, Rogue Trooper, ABC Warriors, Zombo and the likes of Shakara and Kingdom will be able to see their heroes brought to thrill-powered life with officially licensed products.

Initial items include keyrings and full-size replica judge badges, with judge helmets and replica weaponry following soon after. Future products include complete replica judge outfits – ideal for dispensing justice to CosPlay perps! – detailed character masks, as well as further 1:1 and smaller-scale character/prop replicas.

2000 AD is Britain's longest running and most celebrated sci-fi comic, which has been at the cutting edge of contemporary pop culture since 1977. The 32 page weekly anthology is a multi-award winning cocktail of explosive sci-fi and fantasy, infused with a mean streak of irony and wry black humour.

Created in 1977 by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, Judge Dredd is 2000 AD's most famous character – a judge, jury and executioner all rolled into one who patrols the dystopian streets of Mega-City One atop his huge Lawmaster bike and dispenses violent justice with his Lawgiver sidearm.

Other hit characters include the mutant bounty hunters of Strontium Dog, gentleman zombie Zombo, alien assassin Shakara, robotic superteam the ABC Warriors, ancient barbarian Sláine and genetically modified soldier Rogue Trooper.

Website and Forum / Web Store Going Offline
17 June, 2011, 02:20:08 PM
We'll be carrying out a store update shortly so the store won't be accessible during this time.

Will let you know when it's back up! ;)

It would seem, for whatever reason, that if you're browsing the greater Interweb using Firefox 4 our store is currently not letting you process payments. This apparently isn't just about SagePay and FF4 but a whole other bunch of peeps too.

Will keep you posted as and when we know more :-\

Website and Forum / Forum change...!
14 June, 2011, 01:30:33 PM
Hey All,

In an ongoing battle to counter abuse of this forum it drastically needed an update. Downside of course, as with everything, is that the old theme didn't work. As with last time this happened I'll be about to try and make the transition smoother but it was, at the end of the day, a necessary shift ;)

Please report any problems / issues if they arrise!

Cheers,
