They ever do Fade To Black, AKA 100+ FMVs of murder?

Just checked and apparently the studio went under shortly after putting out the Flashback remake. A shame, it was clunky but wasn't that bad, and I enjoyed my time with it!

Would have liked to have played Fade To Black, I missed out on it back in the day for some reason, maybe wasn't on a platform I owned at the time.

Playing Evil Within 2 at the moment which got a very mixed bag of reviews but have to say I'm loving it so far. I'm only at chapter 3 which lets you loose in an open world US small town full of zombie types. It really appeals to my "explore everywhere before moving on" attitude and I get a very "Silent Hill" vibe from it. Hopefully the gameplay continues to impress.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

I loved The Evil Within 2! The open town thing was really satisfying, planning how you're going to get from A to B makes for some interesting survival horror, sneaking through gardens and houses to avoid monstery streets and stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed it throughout!

Mass Effect for the PS3. I didn't have a PS3 so bought a refurbished 250GB Slim console from CEX for £80 last week and downloaded the PS3 Trilogy for £7 from the PlayStation Store. Only ever played the ME Trilogy on PC before and only ever played FemShep before, so I'm trying out BroShep for the first time. (Toyed with recreating my PC Renegon FemShep but then thought better of it. She was great but let's not spoil the memories, huh?) Just rescued Liara from Therum so I've got Noveria and Feros to complete.

Finished The Witcher 2, had a pretty identical experience as with the first game. Which is to say I loved the character, the world-building and the story, but found the gameplay such a slog that I'd really gone off the whole affair by the end. The combat just wasn't enjoyable, and even on Easy (which is what the game recommended I play on after my poor attempts at getting to grips with the mechanics in the tutorial) there were a couple of insane difficulty spikes near the end which were maddening. Add to that a final boss that was a turgid chip-fest that took FOREVER and it had lost all the goodwill the presentation and story had gained it from me.

Will probably still give 3 a go at some point given how much people rave about it, but I really hope it's not got the same complaints.

I gave up on 2 due to the same complaints but 3 does live up to the hype. Gameplay is so much better and *gasp* actually fun. I wish I had the time to play more but having been in the same boat, I offer another recommendation of number 3.

I've been spending the weekend playing Darkest Dungeons - wanted to play for a long time but knew I'd never sit on my desktop long enough to play such a thing anymore. Thankfully they finally release it for the iPad, and it's grand! Grand, frustrating and hard.

I never managed to get through The Witcher 2 either, it wasn't only the awkward gameplay, I also just didn't like Geralt so I really was buggered. He was just a charisma vacuum. Its a shame because a lot of people really enjoy these games, especially Witcher 3 :(

Last game I played through was Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on PS2, fantastic game, much better than Lament of Innocence which preceded it. Platforming takes a backseat in both and they focus more on combat. LoI's combat was quite shallow and with very flat, board-game maps whereas CoD adds more interesting terrain and lots of cool systems for things like xp, loot, crafting items and raising familiars to fight with you. Its a lot more substantial and looks a bit better too.

I remember there was some outcry from fans about Mercury Steam 'turning Castlevania into God of War' when they made Lords of Shadow on 360 and PS3, but it's not like Konami hadn't already gone in the 'Character Action' direction themselves, and successfully. LoS rocked too anyway!

Damn, making me want to have a go. I will take a run at it sometime, everyone who's played it thinks it's the bee's knees and I usually like the genre. If the gameplay's much improved that'll go a long way to helping me get over Geralt aka 'The Void'. I wonder if the books are worth a bash.

Witcher 3 is nothing like it's prequels it completely open world. An open world that's collosal and it has too superb dlc add-on that expands its world even further.a absolutely amazing game and it's utterly gorgeous as well.highly recommended but its a seriously huge game and not to be taken likely.

GrudgeJohnDeed

Well I do love open world games (an open world Dredd game set in Mega City One is probably my dream game). It's getting a sexy patch for the Xbox One X as well right? I'm hopefully going to get an X some time in the coming months, maybe that'd be a good time for it.

Theblazeuk

I think Geralt in 3 is portrayed a little more effectively as well - a guy who has been through quite a lot, and is pretty weary.

Ive not played 1 or 2 but absolutely loved Witcher 3.
I've recently been replaying Last of Us on the PS4Pro .. man that looks lovely and such an awesome game. Genuinely harrowing in places and full of feels in others.

Last game I played to completion was Resident Evil 5.  I only got a PS3 this year as an unexpected gift from a friend and he wanted to play some co-op with me.  It was actually the second time we played through the game because I enjoyed it so much.

I'm not a big fan of the RE franchise just by virtue of never really having played any of the games.  I was aware that at the time of release RE5 had a degree of negative response, so I didn't expect anything special from the game.  After getting used to the controls I found the game to be a well crafted co-op experience.  It always felt like we were working together to accomplish our goals in the game.  This worked really well when we'd have to split up.

The story is rediculous, but I assume that is the case with every game.  I enjoyed it well enough for its extravagance and it didn't bother me I didn't really know what had happened in previous games.

We also have started playing RE6 and that is turning out to be considerably less fun.

In addition to those games I've been dipping in and out of Cities:Skylines and that game is amazing.  I love it.  It is really satisfying having built a pretty little city right before I make a mess of it and turn into a bloated nightmare.  Good times :)
