Girls just want to have fun!

The famous version - which I also love

I love the eighties version but for some reason that I can't put my finger on I don't like the re-recording from the nineties. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it but maybe it just lacks that brattish "Ooomph!"

Whatever happened to Rico, Dolman and Cadet Paris? I'm sooo out of the loop.

I didn't know Girls Just Wanna Have Fun wasn't a Cyndi Lauper original composition, which means she's responsible for two great cover versions.

I'm not sure what scares me more: the thought of Roy Orbison http://youtu.be/m5N9IHqqGcA or Celine Dion http://youtu.be/kvz_gW5C2cY waking me from my sleep to make love to me.  :o

Kendrick's talking over the original, rather than offering a cover version, but it's still great: http://youtu.be/donS3zZZTu8

... and so's the Isley Brothers: http://youtu.be/f3Kf1Iy5E6U

My favourite cover that comes to mind is Queen Adreena's version of Jolene.

That is good.

Dark Sanctuary did a covers of the Doors' Waiting for the Sun. They couldn't release it due to some shitty copyright issue. Amazing track though.

Danzig does a killer version of Some Velvet Morning by  Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swULxpP51rE

ZenArcade

Are we still arguing over the best cover version, when we all know it is Husker Du's cover of Love is all around (theme from the Mary Tyler Moore Show); mind you Joan Jetting and the Black Hearts did a reasonable facsimile on the Letterman Show, but not quarter as good (mind you my handle is Zenarcade so I'm not unbiased) Z :-\

Hardly. It's not even Husker Du's best cover: Eight Miles High.
We never really die.
