Anyone know where I can pick up one of these at a not-too-ridiculous price, without having to wait eighteen years for a new delivery?

Ah but one could procreate now and it would be here in time for the young un's 18th.

BTW What is AsusEEE?

Purely Gadgets but Asus just announced http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/asus-9-inch-eee-pc-now-with-living-pixels/">a new model with an upgraded screen and XP so you may want to wait?

Have a look on ebuyer.com if around £220 isn't ridiculous.

Cheers all.  Ebuyer is only stocking the 2Gb version, at the same price most places are offering the 4Gb.  For all that, it's still the only place I can find that has some in stock.

I'll probably swing by Tottenham Court Road and see if any of the sparkshacks down there have anything.

The eee seems to be becoming the pub-based comic writing tool of choice for discerning scriptdroids.

I'm umming and erring about getting one or holding out for the newer version with the 9" screen (basically the speakers at the side of the screen go away and get replaced by extra screen).

That's got some extra memory and storage as well, and the webcam, though TBF I don't really care that much about those features, as all I'll be using it for is writing stuff.Extra screenspace, on the other hand, seems like it would be really handy.

It's also going to be available with Windows XP preloaded, though TBH I think OpenOffice will do for me.

I'm not a script-droid, but I'm really enjoying my eee. It's not perfectl the screen is small and the wireless can be a pain to get going.  It would be nice if the battery lasted longer.
However, I can write stuff on it, I'm used to the keyboard already, once I've got the wireless working it's fine and it's as cute as a bug's ear.  Belated thanks to PJ for recommending it to me.
