Be interesting to hear what other comics you like and read and your history with Tharg's illustrious organ.

Outside of 2000ad? The Invisibles, Sandman, Preacher, Stormwatch, Wildcats, anything breathed on by Alan Moore....

I was in my teens at the turn of the millennium so anything that was popular around then I was probably reading.

As for 2000ad, again anything from the late 90's through to the mid to late 00's would have got a look from me.

Simply put, can you separate the art from the artist?

In this particular instance I'm referring to a popular female English author known for her series of children's fantasy novels. But feel free to substitute her for any other famous figure in the entertainment business mired in controversy.

Should people boycott her movies for example? Given that so many other people worked on and put their talents into making them? Because at the end of the day they are still her properties and she still benefits financially. Same with the video games, toys and so on...

And if the answer is no then where is the line drawn? I'm guessing there isn't a soul out there today who, being aware of his crimes, would wear a Gary Glitter t-shirt.

Finally how much input does the person have to have in a project before it becomes unacceptable to support it. Specifically I have the Lostprophets in mind here. Should their work be ignored because of one person?

It would be interesting to hear how other people deal with/view these moral dilemmas :)

Off Topic / Re: Day of Chaos 2: a.Covid-19 thread.

Right now here in Florida 1 in every 64 people have a confirmed case of Covid.

Meanwhile the governor has said it's ok for bars and restaurants to return to normal

For the last few months (it began far too late but that's another story) a lot of stores had mask mandates. I went out to get supplies a couple of days ago and the signage telling people they must wear masks has been removed and the workers at one of the stores were no longer wearing masks...

I don't think the outside world understands just how bad things are here or how ABSOLUTELY F'ING STUPID the leaders are here. I know they are bad in other countries but having lived in both the UK and the US I can say first hand it's much worse here.

Rant over (for now...)

Music / Re: What's everyone listening to...?

Having a bit of a binge on both Alice and John Coltrane right now. Also original line-up Sabbath (up to Technical Ecstasy) is getting a lot of air time here.

Trying to get the album just put out by the Dalai Lama but I refuse to shop with Amazon and none of my usual places have it in stock right now :(

(yes cds are still a thing in this household)

I haven't heard this yet. The only Napalm album I've sat down and listened to in its entirety is Apex Predator. I remember being both impressed and afraid of the Dalek type noises coming out of my speakers before the onslaught of sheer noise that followed.

If Throes is anything like Apex Predator (which is sounds like it is) then I should be in for a good time when I give it a go.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

I picked up The Great Shark Hunt by Hunter S Thompson at a thrift store and I'm about halfway through.

It's a bunch of collected articles from his Rolling Stone days (and others I think) so it's easily digestible. Kind of depressing to see nothing has really changed in the world of politics over the last 50 years... but it's an enjoyable read.

Anne McCaffery's The City Who Fought is sitting next to my bed waiting to be read next. And Good Omens underneath that. There really does need to be more time in the day...

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...

El Camino.

I was expecting Breaking Bad Lite which is exactly what it was. I'm not sure why people seemed to dislike it so much when it came out (maybe they were expecting Breaking Bad 2 or something?) but for me it lived up to my expectations for it.

And now I can start catching up on Better Call Saul.

Games / Re: Last game played...

Panel de Pon for the SNES emulator thingy on the Switch.

I never had a SNES growing up so I completely missed out on this puzzle gaming gem. For me it's more addictive than Tetris. Not something you want to pick up if you've got 5 mins to kill...my average play time is 30 mins a round. I play a few boards and there goes my entire afternoon... wicked fun though.

If you haven't tried it and you have a switch I suggest giving it a play (well if you like puzzle games anyway)

Games / Re: PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X mega-thread!

There is absolutely zero hype from me for either of them. The only reasons I'd have for picking up a console at launch is either a huge upgrade in graphics (like going from MegaDrive to Playstation) or exclusive games that I can't play anywhere else.

Right now the PS5 launch line up has two games that are new and exclusive (the rest are either available on PS4 already or remakes of PS3 games) which are Destruction All Stars and Godfall. Both from studios who's previous releases I have no interest in.. (as far as I can see, the dev of Godfall has only made 1 previous title and lucid games mostly deals in mobile games...)

Which seems bad until you look at the Xbox line up which has ONE game that I can't play on the current Xbox which is Bright Memory, a game made by devs I know nothing about (at time of writing I couldn't even find a wiki page for them, as far as I know this is their first game)...

No doubt I'll upgrade eventually but as far as day 1 goes I honestly don't see the point.

Knowing me RocketMother, knowing you the 2000ad forums, aha.

I like comics, games, blah blah blah....you know me, I'm like you, which is precisely why I'm here.

Look forward to chatting to you all on the boards.
