Suggestions / Why no Strondium Dog Agency Files 5?
23 January, 2008, 03:47:43 AM
I'd love to see a Strontium Dog Agency files #5, containing all the reboot stories from the last few years.

There's certainly enough material for a nice meaty volume. Even without 'The Glum Affair' (as we don't know the final page count yet), there's still 348 pages of new story: -

Kreeler Conspiracy Part 1, 8 episodes (Progs 1174 to 1180), 84 pages

Kreeler Conspiracy Part 2, 5 episodes (Progs 1195 to 1199), 30 pages.

Roadhouse 8 episodes (Progs 1300 to 1307), 54 pages.

The Tax Dodge 9 episodes (Progs 1350 to 1358), 60 pages.

The Headly Foot Job 4 episodes (Progs 1400 to 1403), 24 pages.

Traitor to his Kind 10 episodes (Progs 1406 to 1415), 60 pages.

Shaggy Dog Story 5 episodes (Progs 1469 to 1472), 36 pages.

The Glum Affair 4+ episodes (Progs 1567 to 1569) 24 pages.

Given that it would mostly be in colour, I'd certainly have no objection to paying more for it than the previous black and white files.

General / Dredd: New Year Is Cancelled - Prog 146
14 July, 2006, 07:32:08 PM
Just wondering was there ever any follow-up story about little Albert Sherman, the genius kid who wanted to be King of Meg City 1, from the Dredd story 'New Year Is Cancelled' in prog 146?

The last we see of Albert, he's being inducted into the Academy of Law to begin training and Dredd is predicting that some day Albert's brains will be an asset to the force.

General / Dredd from 2079 to 2099, what happens?
02 July, 2006, 07:51:36 PM
We know that Dredd graduates in 2079 and yet the first Dredd story published in Prog # 2, takes place all the way ahead in the year 2099. 20 years later!

So where are the stories from this missing 20 year period? This was the time when Dredd was building up his reputation as Mega City One's most feared lawman. Surely, there must be some interesting tales to tell, but why haven't Wagner (or other Dredd scribes), to the best of my knowledge written about Dredd in this time period?

I stopped reading 2000AD during the late 80s and most of the 90s, so I'm wondering, were there any stories published then that cover Dredd's early career?

Yes, I know there have been some flashback stories that take place partially durng the missing years, such as 'The Return of Rico' (prog # 30) and the more recent 'Blood Cadets' story (Progs # 1186-1188). But, that's all I can think of.

It just seems strange to me that Dredd's early years haven't been covered much.

Just wondering if anybody else has any printing problems with their JD: Brothers of the Blood graphic novel?

On the Colin MacNeil story 'Blood And Duty', there's a black triangular mark on the second panel of the fifth page, which blots out most of one of the speech balloons.

If my web-fu is good today, I'll post a scan of the offending page below.

Just want to know, was this a problem that affected the whole print run, or was I just unlucky and got sent a naff copy?

Please humour me with this rather odd question.

I've been wondering recently where do Judges go to answer the call of nature when they are out on patrol?

As far as I know, this has never been addressed in a story, although I was away from Tooth during most of the 90s, so maybe it was.

I mean think about it, do they use public lavatories? If yes, that's a bit of a risk as no matter how well trained, skilled and experienced you are in combat, you are still quite vulnerable to attack while relieving yourself.

Or are their special 'Judge Only' WC facilities located throughout the city, which can only be accessed by Judges and which are locked and armoured to prevent a Judge from being attacked, while he/she is doing the business.

Or lastly, are judges just trained to hold it, until they report back to their sector houses at the end of their shifts.

Enquiring minds want to know?

Suggestions / Lawgiver prop - would youbuy one?
08 December, 2003, 03:56:48 PM
As a sideline to my normal job, I'm in the process of finshing up my first project with a company in China that custom sculpts and manufactures painted polyresin statues of comic & anime characters.

Now being a longtime 2K fan, I was thinking of approaching Rebellion and finding out what their licensing terms and fees are for 2K characters. However, as there are already statues of 2K characters available, I was thinking about making prop 2k weapons instead, with the first project being Dredd's Lawgiver MK.II (comic version).

These would be 1/1 scale non-firing replicas, made of heavyweight, durable polyresin (no moving parts). They would be fully painted and highly detailed. These would be limited to a production run of 300pcs, which is the minimum order quantity that I have to place with the factory (although more could be made if there is enough demand). Each Lawgiver would be individually marked, i.e '1 of 300', '2 of 300' etc and would come in a high quality card box with die-cut styrofoam insert to protect the gun.

Obviously, I have no idea of the licencing fee yet, but as a very rough guestimate at this stage I'd be aiming for a selling price of ?45 to ?60 each. Do you guys and girls have any interest in this sort of thing?

Just thought something like this would be perfect for pointing at the telly and pretending to blow away annoying TV personalities, movie stars etc (Ben Afflec, cough, cough).

Thoughts, suggestions?

Help! / How to defeat Judge Fear in DvD?
01 December, 2003, 01:12:38 PM
Help, I'm stuck on stage 10 (The Undercity) of the PS2 version of Dredd vs Death. No matter what I do, I can't defeat Judge Fear. Any advice, hints etc?

warning, next bit contains spoilers for those of you who haven't played yet.
.

.
.
.
.

By the time I get to Judge Fear in the museum, I'm quite low on ammo, usually only one to one and a half magazines left for my Lawgiver, although I do have the Rocket Launcher with about 10 shots. My health is usually about three quarters full, with one spare medi-pack left.

The problem is, that when you encounter Judge Fear in the museum, there are too many of those damn Vampires about. If I try attacking Judge Fear immediatly and ignoring the vampires, I can usually empty my Lawgiver into him and hit him with 2 to 3 rockets, but then the Vampires get me.

If instead I try to take out the Vampires first, I can take out 5 to 6 of them with the rocket launcher, but then Judge Fear gets me with his bloody thrown man-traps.

I've tried lots of running around, dodging, firing at targets of oportunity, etc but must have died 20 or more times already.

Help!

General / Dredd vs Death Sequel?
27 November, 2003, 09:07:44 AM
I read over on the 'Dredd Times' site that there is goind to be a sequel to the Dredd vs Death game. Is this confirmed? I've been unable to find confirmation of this anywhere else. Sorry if this has been discussed before. If there is one, I would definitely buy it.

Hope it's true as I'm really enjoying the PS2 version at the moment. I'm not normally a fan of First Person Shooter (FPS) games, but, I can't stop playing Dredd vs Death. Great job Rebellion!

Hoping a sequel will feature some Lawmaster action. And as nice as Mega City One is, I'd quite like to play an expidition into the Cursed Earth.

Also, going up against some rogue Mechanismo robots would be fun, as well as including some other classic bad guys such as Trapper Hag or the Angel Gang. The Apocolypse war would also work quite well as a scenario for a sequel game.

Oh and for a sequel game, please include the Widowmaker combination smg/shotgun (as featured in the Judgement day epic).

General / Dante weapons questions
19 March, 2003, 03:04:55 PM
The only Dante I've read is since I came back to 2000AD last year after a 10 year absence, so I have to admit I'm not really that familiar with the character or his history.

Anyway, can sombody give me some info on the weapons that Dante uses?

I've seen he's got a rifle that looks like an old flintlock muzzle-loading musket. this seems a strange choice as the story is set in the future. I'm guessing it's not really a musket, but why does it look like one?

Also, his hand keeps changing into a sword?  What's up with that? What's it called, how did he get that ability and what if any are the limitations?

In response to Devons Daddys Chinese Lunar New Year greeting, which was in Putonghau (Mandarin) the language of Mainland China and Taiwan, here's the same thing in Cantonese, the language of Hong Kong and most overseas Chinese.

Suggestions / Next Key Ring?
20 December, 2002, 12:40:23 PM
So we've had a Dredd badge key ring and a Death badge  Key ring already. How about making the next one a Lawgiver MK.II key ring? I think that would be way cool and I'd definitely buy one.

General / Cursed Earth Too Tame?
13 December, 2002, 10:24:05 AM
Is it just me, or does the Cursed Earth seem to have become much tamer as the years go by.

I mean in the Cursed Earth Dredd Epic, Dredd only just managed to make it across and then he had the Land Raider vehicle, Judges Paton, Jack & Gradgrind, Tweak, Spikes Harvey Rotten and a detachment of war droids to help him.

Nowadays though, or in fact since the Judge Child Epic, Dredd frequently rides out in the Cursed Earth, just by himself and his trusty Lawmaster and often comes back with nary a scratch.

So what is it, is Dredd just much tougher now, or is the Cursed Earth less dangerous? Note, I'm not saying the Cursed Earth is a safe place, there still lots of nasty shit out there like Gila Munja, but it does seem to me like it's lost a certain something over the years.

Oh, and whatever happened to the Death Belt, that flying band of rocks and garbage in the atmosphere?

Help! / Banned Cursed Earth Episodes
09 October, 2002, 05:09:17 PM
Not sure if I should be asking this on this board........but, would anybody be willing to sell some good qulity photocopies or colour scans of the banned Cursed Earth episodes? I already have prog 71 with the first part of 'Burger Wars', but I'm missing the other three banned episodes and I don't want to pay ebay cost to purchase the old progs as I only want the Dredd stuff.

And yes, I know there is a website with partial scans, but they don't show all of the pages.

Suggestions / Reprint and/or Graphic Novel suggestions
09 October, 2002, 05:00:43 PM
1) How about reprinting Antwars in the Meg or in graphic novel format. I remember this series very fondly and would love to be able to read it again.

2) I'd love to see the original Harlem Heros and Inferno stories as graphic novels, or in the Meg.

3) I'd also love to see the Dan Dare stories from the early days of 2000AD reprinted, especially the ones drawn by Dave Gibbons. I definitely think that some good old space opera type stories is what 2000AD is missing these days.

4) If Titan every reprints Mechanismo, please make sure to include the whole story arc, including the episodes that show what happened to No.5.
