Vampirella was the star of Vampirella magazine from Warren publishing in t 780s- and recently re-done by Harris comics.

In short she is an alien from the planet Drakulon where there are rivers of blood.
She survives on a blood substiute-cos shes a good guy.She poses as a stage magician to amke a buck with her transformation to a bat as the highlight of her act.
She wears a revealing costume and has a drunk as a sidekick.
She is sort of a detective in that every week she would solve mysteries, usually involving black magic and her getting naked.

The '70's series was great in its kitchiness and is really of it's time. It seems a bit silly now.I'm not a fan of the new stuff myself.

The artists were amazing; Fernandez,Gonzales and 2000ads' Jose Ortiz to name a few.

Weren't Hammer going to make a Vampirella movie as their next film, but sadly the studio folded (or am I remembereing incorrectly)?

The 70's stuff is great fun and contains some great art. The new stuff is pretty much one of a number of bad girl vampire books, tho does contain some cool ideas during the Grant Morrison/Mark Millar run.

There was a movie made in 1996- that didnt get anywhere. Looks a bit shite going by reviews I've read online.
I'd have loved to have seen a Hammer version though.
