I love Bukowski's work. I reckon its pretty similar to comics as the text is down to earth and largely concerned with story, as opposed to flouncy language. I dunno what the point of this post is, just intrigued as too whether anyone else likes Charles's  writing. Reckon the postman could make for an interesting comic adaptation....  If we can have Shakespeare as a comic then whilst not more interesting and socially relevant authors? Surely more people can relate to the themes within Bukowski's work then a dead text that is largely incomprehensible to people who don't wish to pore over a script? If Shakespeare is studied in schools then why not other authors that offer a more modern perspective on love, loneliness, depression, addiction and violence. I know who I'd prefer to read, both now and as a teenager.....and it ain't William.
This goes for comics in general, as the themes in comics are often of more interest then fucking Romeo and Juliet to the average Yoof. Imagine if Watchmen was taught in English... A text which raises far more questions then it does answers forcing a reader to actually think about their relationship to the governing powers and ultimate lack of a coherent protest in relation to a  governments decisions?

Apologies if this bangs on, but I really feel that schools offer a shite standard of education and fail to raise a number of valid discussions that are readily available in comics.

Alreet,
Anyone else here a fan of wrestling? Myself not today, but have fond memories of both ECW and Attidute era WWF. Both were pretty similar to comics in that they had massive characters combined with acts of violence combined in longterm story arcs. Fav stories invole Austin vs Vince, RVD Vs Sabu- Stretcher match and anything involving Terry Funk or Cactus Jack. For any doubters check out Cactus Jack Promos, Raven circa ECW promos and matches against Tommy Dreamer. Am probs alone in this, but just wondered what other comic fans thought regarding wrestling. Myself, I love the shit! Cos BoJirch said so.... (Christ thats so fucking sad that its all etched in my memory........)

Games / Blood Bowl

Cant wait for blood bowl on 360. Got the DS version yesterday from mininova. Pretty sick so far. Definately need to get a league going soon as 360 one comes out. Anyone  remember Necromunda? Was basically a Gamesworkshop game set in a simialr enviroment to a megacity where a player controlled a gang. Just dusted off my old Delaques yesterday- still 100% bad ass years later. Anyone else like vintage GW games?

Hi all,
Long time reader first time poster! Just thought I'd post to say hello and introduce myself. Been out of the loop with the progs for a while, so am planning a mass back order tonight. So other then being a 2000AD fan, I enjoy Xbox360, Bass Guitar, and the work of Garth Ennis.
Take it easy

Alreet,
Ive just got vol 13 of the case files, and have read on amazon that 'Tales of the Dead Man' isn't going to be included in volume 14 and will be a seperate purchase. Does anyone know if this is correct? Seems a bit of a scam if 'Tales of the Dead Man' is part of the Necropolis epic contained in Vol 14.  Will be buying it whatever the weather.
Peace Out
