I thought I had an account ages ago but clearly not.  I am a long time reader of 2000AD (1988  onwards) but with several long gaps, caused by skintness.  I'm back at the moment but for who knows how long. I love Slaine (Glenn Fabry era especially); I increasingly love Dredd and I am fond of the old classic stories and characters. A lot of the newish stuff seems really excellent - is the comic going through a good patch at the moment or what? I loved Cradlegrave in the summer.

I hope never to see the 'exciting news for our readers' banner on this comic. I hope it goes on until the 22nd century at least. I also hope that I will be wearing my jetpack and hoverboots whilst reading it on a overhead display generated by a chip in my head. It will be nice to have something to read whilst going in for regenerations eh....*

*dream on. We don't even have proper spaceships yet.

PS For some reason the board has shortened my name. I am supposed to be Staticgirl. SFX forumites will know me...
PPS Fixed!

Welcome to the board Staticgirl!

The prog has really had some great stuff lately. The bumper-size Christmas issue is coming out soon too! Hooray!

Hey Staticgirl.  Nice to see new faces as ever.  Hope you'll find the board as friendly and accommodating as I do.  We don't tend to get as much forum-violence or net-bravery as other places on the web so I like to think new members can post without fear of being shot down brutally.

I'd never thought about the fear generated by the "Exciting News for Our Readers" banner before, but you're right.  That would be terrifying.  Let's hope it'll never happen.  Not much chance as, as you so-rightly say, the prog is in something of a golden age now.  Two or three weeks away from a Christmas relaunch issue, it's surprising that everything's so strong at the moment.  Surprising in a good way.

I tend to think of Fabry's Slaine as the definitive version too.  His colour work on Demon Killer should be in the upcoming book 5 of the Slaine collections - can't wait.

Welcome, Staticgirl.

Word has obviously got about of our Mayor's pro-Sláine civic policies, he seems to attract a new fellow traveller every day, and he doesn't think it too etc.

Hi, welcome to one of the greatest places on the web. Have fun and enjoy your time here.
Glen Farby, is my favorite of mine too, I even have his Sláine painted on my wall.

Welcome to the board, I think Glenn's B&W artwork on Slaine has got to be the best of the series.

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.

Hi, Demonkiller was anticipated as the magick unfolded from Sky Chariots, i never expected it to be so uniquely other worldly. I think thats where I first encountered Glenn Fabry and was really glad to have. I hoped he'd be put on the important story lines from then on. I was well happy to see him on the Niamh and Kye storyline.
