I for one welcome our new jumper overlord.

It needles me that all the puns had been taken before I got here, but maybe if I think hard I can still stitch one together.  It's a bit of a knotty problem.

I'm sure the knitted overload can take a little gentle ribbing, but you might have to guage his reaction first to minimise tension.

Warning, I frequent on a nerdy knitting forums and have a metric shedload of knitting/yarn craft puns to trundle your way

No worries, @Frank.   I submitted an alternative pick which includes the knitted helmet too. All is good

Hi, mind if I add a little something to the calendar?

I see that Frank has set up a separate thread for the Jumper (Jimper) which was made for @CommandoForces  but I have a picture of the full knitted ensemble, including the knitted helmet.

Saw it today in the flesh and it wins all Christmas Jumper competitions. Outstanding work by Rachael.

:-[  Aww thank you.

Darn! <see what I did there?> I was going to submit the jumper as an Advent Calendar entry but I see it got it's on thread <gah! I did it again, sorry>

Thanks for the great knitting puns and lovely feedback - I'm so happy to see it received in a positive way.

Hey, are there any days after 15th December that haven't been allocated a contribution yet?
I might have something to donate to the advent calendar after all, but can't say any more until after 15th December.

I don't normally comment in these threads but just wanted to say how much I'm loving this year's advent calendar.

Bloody amazing stuff there - just wish I was clever enough to be able to contribute.

A friend of mine, who moved to Greece when he was 13, used to insist that Def Leppard song was a metaphor for getting covered in dust on a building site.

I met him a few years ago for the first time since then, and reminded him of it. He hadn't changed his mind.

What he's done is taken this music video at face value.

That's what I figured too.  They were ok in the 80s, in a cheesy, soft-metal way.  It all started to go wrong with 'Let's Get Rocked' though.

Seeing as it's the Misheard lyrics thread AND you've mentioned the song "Let's Get Rocked" - I hate that song despite Def Leppard being a guilt pleasure of mine - my little sister swore Joe was singing "Lesbian's Rock!"

As in "Lesbians, lesbians, lesbians, lesbians rock!
Get on top now baby
Lesbians, lesbians, lesbians, lesbians rock..."

::) :-[ Oh Carole, you sweet summer child!

Hmm.... Tricky starter move.
Not sure whether this was in the original or revised Prog Rules but here goes: Palais du Boing

The TARDIS interior and Paul McGann were pretty much the only good things about the TV Movie. I do still kind of consider the TV Movie interior to be my favourite of them all.
The TV movie was wretched, but I could quite happily live in that TARDIS interior. And with Paul McGann.
I could quite happily live with Paul McGann  ;)  . . . erm . . . I mean I liked his version of the Doctor - including the short webisode when Paul McGann returned and regenerated into the War Doctor.

Similar to the concept of kind of wishing that Peter Capaldi's Doctor was Malcolm Tucker, I would have liked McGann to be Doctor with Richard E Grant - as Withnail -  to be his assistant. Probably would only work as a spoof for Comic Relief but I would have watched the hell out of it.

Montserrat CaballĂ©, opera singer famous for duetting with Freddie Mercury on the amazing song Barcelona, passed away on 6th October 2018.  Hope she's reunited with Freddie up there for the encore of encores.  :'(

:'( Such sad news.  I remember being star-struck when he was at the bar at the 40th anniversary. I was too shy to say hi despite him being so friendly and kind
A giant amongst comic artists - with a legacy of incredible art to be remembered by.

RIP, Mr.E, we'll miss you.

But giggaloes are fine, eh?  ;)

For ages I was horrified by a couple of lines in the song "State of the Nation" by New Order but I now know better

The lyrics do not go:

"My brother said that he was dead.
I saw his face and shit my bed"

:-[

Oh yeah, Bananarama's cover of Venus (I was 7 at the time so didn't know the original...
"Well, I'm your Venus.
I'm your fire
Choke me,  sire"

Sounds a bit kinky like that.  :-\
