Quote from: JWare on 03 May, 2023, 03:34:26 PM...By which time Grandad had a good job with the ESB, so that's alright then. As a lifelong de Valera fanboy, his youthful troubles during the Civil War stood him in good stead, careerwise.

And Ireland had a Latin-American President before the US.

Quote from: JWare on 01 May, 2023, 05:56:04 PMThe most contentious clause in the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921 was that government employees in the newly created Irish Free State had to take an oath of allegiance to Chucky Three's great-grandad.
My own grandad was disinclined to take such an oath, which resulted in jail time and a somewhat stalled career.

Of course having previously removed the oath of allegiance in 1932, and never one to miss an opportunity, de Valera futher dismantled the Free State Constitution and Anglo-Irish Treaty by using the opportunity of political delay presented by the abdication of King Edward (and the recently passed Statute of Westminster 1931) to pass legislation that removed the monarchy from the internal affairs of the Free State. The next year a new Constitution of Ireland, with a President, was approved by the people. Further cemented in 1949 with the Republic removing the king from all external affairs and head of state.

A great example of using the constitutional monarchy of empire against itself.

Quote from: The Legendary Shark on 20 April, 2023, 08:26:33 PMI agree on IM2 but I'd put FF in place of Thor 2

Presuming by FF you mean Fantastic Four, Shark?

They've yet to make the MCU version of the foursome (unless you're telling me this from the future).

Well, I have to say: I have no idea what all the sniffy reviews are on about. Quantumania is fine, in fact it's pretty good.

Agree. Quantumania is solid and nowhere near Marvel's worst films (IM2, Thor2, Eternals). The 3 Ant-Man films are of similar grade: efficient, visually imaginative, enjoyable, and no flab. Any quibbles are mostly down to matters of taste. They have their method down to an art.

Andor will have 2 seasons. It was originally 5.

My bad. I should have looked that up...!

Disappointing, though. I could totally go more than two seasons. Especially since we'd been pre-warned that K-2SO wouldn't turn up in the first season.

Gilroy and Luna decided during the making of season 1 they didn't want to be tied to the shooting schedule for several years, so Gilroy compressed the story into 2 seasons, which is where the idea of season 2's time-jumps between episodes came from.

Hope this runs a couple of seasons to build on the line in Rogue One "we've all done things we're not proud of ..." just before jetting off to get the Death Star plans and ultimate end

I'm sure it was announced as three seasons, each one jumping forward a little in time until the last season pretty much directly leads into Rogue One.

Andor will have 2 seasons. It was originally 5.

Slight aside - does anyone know if the original, uncensored art for 'Bank Raid' still exists?

The original art still exists but one page remains missing. The censor edits would've been painted onto the original art like this

A photostat exists of the missing page before it was censored.

Can anyone post a pic of the piece here for us non-Zuckers?

It's the final page of the very first Dredd story - Bank Raid - repurposed as a FutureGraph
