"In order to gain entry to the castle where Hilary Flammond's father was being held captive, I had to dress up like a cow, which was an experience I'll never forget."

"After the war, I was sent to a psychiatric hospital where they questioned me over and over again about my talking equipment, which they apparently can't hear.  As soon as I get out of here I'm going down to the arms depot to rescue them!"

"And then Blind Bob, having just saved London from the zeppelins, was knocked down and killed by a Butcher's van.  It was all very grim!"

I take it there's no placeholder cover for the Cabs book?

Reckon it would make a good wee ad for the GN on the [unofficial] Cabs site homepage - instead of that "our latest case" pic of Inspector Absolut.

D'you think Rebellion have toyed with the idea of releasing a new title?

With the success of stuff like the Charley's War reprints, and Ennis's War Stories (well, they're all successful in my eyes, not sure what the accountants say) - is there room for a Victor-stylee comic on the market?

My beef with the idea of Dan encroaching on my Meg is that there already is what looks like a vibrant kids comic market:  go into WH Smith and there's a shelf burgeoning with brightly coloured kids comics (which I sometimes have to embaressingly filter through to find 2000AD: "Mummy - why's that man reading Bunty?")

Figure there's not a sci-fi or war comic there, though.

Am I right?

I bloody well hope not.  Unless it's a 1-page 1-off.

I get lost if people don't use [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags.

Even during the disasterous Millar years [been almost a fortnight since I last slagged him], I wouldn't have wished for a democractically produced 2000AD.

Big Dave would have become Big Darling, a story about an alien bounty hunter who uses non-lethal methods to track down and scold his prey.

Long live the Betelgusian dictatorat.

(Most truly great movies, you'll note, were made by directors who didn't bend to the whim of studio executives, idiotic and unrepresentative test audience opinion and penny-pinching producers.)

Now, Zenith on the other hand...

I'd like to see some more Zenith flashbacks that could open out some of the alternatives that were visited in Phase Whatever.

I know it was partly the point, but the superheroes we got to see en masse were under-used and I wants to know more.

As for the rumours of Zenith-creator-man in legal fandangos with Thargiplops, all we need do is hold him down and tickle him until he gives in.  Simple, really.

"Where did she go?"

- Out.

"What did she do?"

- Everything.

(I think it would be near impossible to live up to the expectations of a Halo Jones Book IV.  Let her rest, I reckon.)

But it did end.

At the end, the two humans have teamed up with the Binod and the Uos and that little gas-sac thing (if it's still alive) that kept calling him "the death" and maybe some of those nutters that brought Atavar(s) to life in the first place and then off they go to excise the galaxy-cancer.

In fact, we're told if he gets the Uos under control he can beat the g-cancer:  and he does get them under control.  Ergo, g-cancer beaten.  QED.  No need to see it.  Move along.

Personally, I could give or take the stories that have been given to Richard Elson:  both AHAB and Atavar left me feeling cold.  But then, that's what 2000AD is all about - it's an anthology title.  For every fan shouting "Slade is pants!" there's another one saying "Oi!  I likes that thrill, bozo!"

If you've found yourself in a position where there is nothing left in 2000AD that thrills you, then fair enough ... but I reckon, in these here parts at least, you're in a minority.
