Suggestions / Full Colour DR & Quinch
08 November, 2018, 10:38:52 PM
I'd love to see Alan Davis' art coloured on this one. Maybe get him to do a new cover, include all the pin-ups & the Jamie Delano problem pages. Common Tharg! It's just a matter of time!

News / Re: Dredd - Final Judgement 'Special' Edition

It seems odd when the earlier Movie Dredd reprint was a hardcover. I'd imagine most people want a matching pair. The Mazeworld and Charlie's War reprints seem equally bizarre choices in softcover. Maybe hardcovers are destined to become endangered, with only the rare beasts like The 13th Floor allowed a limited outing.

I've failed you all. I can't go on. It's not you, it's me. Thirty issues in I've stopped subscribing to the Ultimate Collection. I'll always have the Nemesis statuette and the surprisingly nice metal bookends. I bought all 90 issues of the MegaCollection but this can't go on. I thought the pairing of DR & Quinch with Skizz was inspired, but my heart's not in it anymore. Where would the new shelf go? Like the old shelf would it need to be extended after 80? Think of the Marvel collection, what if this series never ends? Maybe I'll be back. I'll still pick up the 4th Nemesis volume, and Dante of course. The complete Durham Red as well. Maybe it's a reflection on the stunning quality of the weekly. New thrills that's the thing. I've just ordered the signed "Hope" from Gosh comics. Tharg is going to get my cash, but I'll save it for the newer stuff.

Events / Re: MCM Comic Con
30 October, 2018, 05:52:28 PM
I didn't realise the scale of MCM - it's the whole of ExCel. It's huge. I've never paid for autographs before, only for sketches, and felt odd parting with cash even for Chris Claremont. I'm really only used to Lawless, NICE & Leam Con - tiny cons where you almost have to pace yourself! This was certainly disorienting - the variety of the culture on show. Even with this scale ther's still time for the smaller moments with creators. There was a lovely signing with Amanda Conner & Jimmy Paliotti, who were very charming and happy to chat about working with Garth Ennnis & Steve Dillon.
I can see why calling this a comic con is misleading to some, it's Geek Culture - Cosplay, Anime, Film, TV, K-Pop, Computer Games etc - all in the mix. I love comics but I'm glad to see the wider culture - Rick & Morty, Doctor Who, Nintendo and all. I was only there Sunday when i think it was quieter. I'd go again, and maybe do more homework about what's on. I wish Rebellion were represented.
There was certainly plenty to see - everything from Bernard Cribbins to Frank Miller.

Prog / Re: Prog 2102 - Quick on the Jaw!

Prog 2102 continues to be stellar. Dredd & Brink are A*, although I'm sure some would find Brink too talky.
Skip Tracer has never looked better and has a real House of Daemon feel. Kingdom is old school thrills. Fiends feels cinematic - Dave Taylor is a master of atmosphere. Truely this run of progs is up there with the best for me. May the Second Golden Age of 2000ad continue...

Question about Dredd The Small House Part 2

SPOILERS

When Judge Smiley reminds Dredd of the high body count of his friends is he implying Hershey needs to be assassinated? Because she puts the city at risk? Is he testing Dredd's loyalty? Apologies if this is blindingly obvious to other prog readers.  Another stunningly good issue!

Megazine / Re: Meg 400 - 400th Issue!

Please help me with Anderson. I like the art but confused by the third page. Is the initial skysurfing perp killed by a single whack to the head meant for Anderson? She calls in a Death but he doesn't look too dead behind her. It's not like half his head's missing or anything! Great art & colouring though, more from de la Cruz please Tharg?!

Good point bernardsfingers!
The Premium figures are lovely things, especially the Nemesis the Warlock statue. The are painted well and have a bit of weight to them. Here's to the Halo Jones figure coming next!

I'd love to see Ian Gibson do covers for further collected reprints & maybe a few images of Halo's possible futures. He's a definitive 2000ad artist and a singular talent.

Prog / Re: Prog 2100 - Anderson's Darkest Hour

Was it the potty mouth issue of Frank Miller's All Star Batman that had blacked out all the swearing but it was still quite legible? I quite liked the 'redacted' curse-words look. Having chatted at length to Culbard at Thought Bubble I was excited to read Brink Season 3, its the perfect distillation of Lovecraft, Sci-fi and True Detective. The deceptively minimal art and lurid colours are just amazing.

I'd stick to messenger - it seems to work. Log into your account on hachette website and you should be able to see if you've been Premium all this time - its an extra £1.50 per book. Send them a screen grab with your subscription number. I can't iterate enough that calling or email doesn't seem to work. I've had both figures replaced in about 2 weeks. all the best.

This might be the best prog ever. It's embarassingly good. I'm too excited by a Dredd mega story by Flint & co. I'm so glad to see the distinctive Brink back and more disturbing than ever! Tharg is truely generous!

I've stuck to messenger after one terrible phone call. I've always had books & breakages replaced pretty simply. I can only imagine how many different series/books/figurines/build-your-own-R2D2 type questions these guys have to deal with.
