Alpha Protocol - anyone played?

Never really been a big RPG player, well unless you count Final Fantasy 7.
That said I LOVED both Mass Effect games so gave Dragon Age origins a go and just couldnt get into it. The whole spells and dragons thing just doesnt float my boat I guess.

So saw there was a new RPG game called Alpha Protocol which is a modern day spy thing. Looks much more up my street but was curious if anyone had played and if so, what did ya think?

But as for Alpha Protocol, it really looked interesting, like a more action orientated Deus Ex....but it seems to have had nothing but bad reviews (even from people on here) and seems to be bombing it's way out of the games chart as fast as it physically can

Yeah, saw the reviews werent too hot but would always take a players opinion over a reviewers. Hoping this would do something to keep my going while I wait for Mass Effect 3, but what I really need is for the Mass Effect guys to make a Godfather style gangsters game

I've not seen any of the bad reviews, but have heard a lot of criticism of the combat and movement. Apparently it doesn't feel very polished and it looks well ropey graphically. Saying that I read a couple of reviews in the mags that I usually trust (8/10 gamesTM and 81% Xbox World), both of which mentioned those gripes but said it overcomes them by having an incredibly branching plot and a fantastic dialogue system. In those regards it says it outdoes even Mass Effect 2. So it appears it's not perfect but well worth a play, I'm giving it a rental myself.

Im a PC gamer so rental not really an option
£17 quid on amazon though. Might risk it.

Not that fussed if the graphics are state of the art. Not really what I'm looking for in the game to be honest. If its got a good spy story and makes you feel like a badass when playing it, that should do the job.
