Prog / Prog 1497 - The Unusual Suspects
16 July, 2006, 04:16:53 AM
Copied over from the 2000adreview site...

I know someone will disagree, but for me this is the front runner for 'Most stinky Cover of the Year'.http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c118/button71/1497.jpg">

Anyone catch this on Channel 5 tonight. I thought it was quite informative and persuasive but then I looked up Wikipedia...

The Doctor Who episode, The Chase (1965) suggested that the arrival of time-travelling Daleks caused the crew of the ship to jump overboard.

They never touched on that theory at all. Cover up! Conspiracy!

You may well have seen these on an e-mail, but if not have a look - the 3D chalk pavement art is amazing.

General / Fight Club Style Rules For Life
07 April, 2006, 04:54:24 AM
Having watched and enjoyed Fight Club for the twentieth time, I took to wondering what other rules boarders follow along the mantra style of 'The first rule of fight club is...'

These can be aide memoirs, catchecisms or general mottos. Mine are such things as:

The first rule of the fridge is you replace the last cold can with a warm one from the cupboard.

The first rule of the lav is you don't start the flush until you have definitely finished pissing.

The first rule of shopping is park near the trolley rank at the supermarket - you'll be happy you did when leaving.

The first rule of spelling is it's de-finite-ly spelt definitely.

And from Family Guy - The first rule of dating is that if she smokes, she pokes.

Film & TV / Simpsons Movie Announced
01 April, 2006, 07:34:37 PM
According to ceefax (page 504) the long mooted Simpsons film has been announced and is due for release on 27th July 2007.

Seemingly a teaser trailer is shown before Ice Age 2 in America and features Homer in his pants, so the omens are good.

How they'll strech the 22 minute format into 90 minutes is anybodies' guess.

I'll go for a breaking the third wall idea, where they find how exploited they are in our world and set off on a mission of redress and discovery. Or maybe a whole shed load of fart jokes.

Any ideas / gossip?

General / Telegraph Opinion Piece
12 March, 2006, 02:20:35 AM
Did anyone catch Sam Leith's piece on Alan Moore in today's Telegraph?

Reasonably well informed although he does mention that well known conic Ad2000. Must have missed that one.

News to me that Alan Moore is Patrick Moore's nephew. still given the research he may have meant Bobby Moore.

Film & TV / Oscars
06 March, 2006, 08:15:22 AM
Anyone else staying up for this? Just gone 2 and they've only just doled out the supporting gongs to Clooney/Weitz.

Good opening sequence with all the previous hosts turning down the job with Billy Crystal and Chris Rock emerging from the 'Brokeback' tent.

Highlight so far is Chicken Little presenting an award and them forgetting to dub in the winner's name.

Pure gold.

Well at least I've got natchos.
