Once again 2000 AD will be at the San Diego Comic-Con.
If you are coming along, please come and see us at booth 2806-2808, where we will be selling a variety of Thrill-Powered merchandise including, the latest US graphic novels and our Con exclusive T-shirt (see below).
If that doesn't sound like enough, we also have a panel (Anarchy In the USA: 2000 AD Invades Comic-Con) on Thursday 22nd July at 10am, Room 9, which will be helmed by pat Mills.
Pat and Clint Langley will also be signing at the 2000 AD booth at various times over the course of the convention.

Damnit thats a fine fine tee-shirt they're getting. No point gripping I guess.
Go get 'um
Damn, time to see my contacts and try to get one of those >:(
Oh, man! That sure is a purty t-shirt yore wearin' boah.
K33F, seeing as it is a 'con' exclusive, if you don't sell them all will there be a chance to get this at later UK shows?
Have a great time btw!
Must win lottery tonight to ensure attendence.
Fat chance! ::)
Bolland's cover of issue 5 (http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=reprint&page=usprofiles&choice=edredd5) of the Eagle reprints. Nice, although 2100 is the year of The Cursed Earth story, not 2101.

Don't push the t-shirt sales too hard at the con then. They are lovely.
Or like maybe accidently like leave a box or two behind. Saves all that lifting too?

It would be a shame to cart them all the way across the pond and then bring them home again wouldn't it.
Is the same shirt gonna be at NY Con?
Good luck, lads. Knock 'em dead!
(Not literally.)
Have a great time and spread the Thrill-power!
Def need one of those T-Shirts, if any one is going I'll happily pay costs and some extra as a thank you....

Or will that still be guarded by secrecy?

This is something that worries about 2000ad at Comic con. Don't get me wrong they know much more about the value of being there and all but when you compare the 2000ad stall to Marvel's golden throne
(http://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/07/throne2-570x760.jpg)
and the 20ft Destroyer robot about to be unleashed behind it
(http://www.bleedingcool.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/07/des1.jpg)
You kinda think they might get lost in the crowd? Maybe attending smaller events might mean they have a bigger impact? But then Maybe going to Comic Con is about meeting with people in the industry?
Hmmm, I see sweet-looking Harry 20 and DR & Quinch GNs (pimp that Davis), something else with what appears to be that thrown-together poster of Dredd with an M16 as a cover, a red thing that looks like it has a Cliff Robinson cover (part of 625?) on it... all very interesting.
And isn't that House of Usher in the centre of the pic? ;)
And (Off Topic) what sorcery is this?

Will there be a freebie sample comic again, which may even find it's way to subscribers like last year?

To be honest the
Thor film announcements are probably going to be the big event of the con and everyone will be in its shadow (including Marvel trying to flog comics ;) ).
2000AD are really focused on breaking into the US market at the moment and you can't have a better beachhead than the SDCC. Although I agree appearing at other events like the New York one is also a good idea as they can be more personal and focused, so could be more effective.
Appearing at many, many other events is a far superior idea.
The Marvel booth up there is the Big Marvel Booth for that con, and that con alone. Marvel has a presence at plenty of other shows, but it pulls out all the stops and goes crazy at this show. So does DC, and Oni, and everybody else. So there's basically two problems: firstly, while a huge amount of media is there, it is all focused on the booth with the great big throne and the giant Destroyer, and will care about as much about 2000 AD as AiT/PlanetLar, or all the other booths full of product from small publishers.
The other problem is that you need to connect with fans and, more critically, retailers. I don't mean to be a broken record or a jerk about this, because it's come up more than once, but there were one or two people on this forum who were aggravated about a signing in London when they lived in Newcastle. Having a single presence in the US at San Diego makes as much sense as having a single presence in Europe somewhere west of Kiev.
I understand that for a small British publisher to do *any* American shows represents a huge expense, and hope that maybe things with Simon & Schuster will go well and perhaps S & S can finance a presence at more American shows.
There again, if 2000 AD's formally announcing the Dredd casting tomorrow, then that will get some needed media attention, and bring more cameras and bloggers to their booth. Here's hoping!!

Actually that's kinda the point. Even if they did announce the Dredd casting or a 2000ad TV show (not that I'm saying for one minute thats going to happen) that'd been one story in a host of media stories at San Deigo. Where as it could be THE story at a different event (again I'm assuming a great deal here). A week of coverage over at CBR and Newsarama and other nerdworthy channels.
I Think a S&S sponsored presence at subsequent shows would have far more impact?

and we thought diamond was bad.
but the dea ??
Thats shite, proof the US just cant handle pure unadulterated Thrill Power.
I like the other article linked there about the Comic-coners protesting at the Westbro Baptist Church protest against worshipping false Idols (cause you know all Comic and Sci-fi fans worship the characters they read about, why I've got a shrine set up to Dredd and sacrifice my freedom to it everyday).
Took on the wrong crowd by the sounds of things, dont mess with the geek collective churchies. i so would've enjoyed being there I wouldn't have been able to help myself and probably got my self bashed by the Westbro heavies.

To start the panel, Keith Richardson asked who was a long time fan of "2000AD," to which nearly everyone in the room raised a hand. He then asked who had never read it, and a ten year old boy up front raised his hand, one of the few who did....
...As everyone filed out of the room, Keith Richardson ran off the stage and down to the front row. He went up to the 10-year-old boy who had raised his hand at the beginning of the panel, handed him a copy of "ABC Warriors: The Meknificent Seven" and told him to take it for free. The boy grabbed it, smiling, and began flipping through it immediately.
Nice!

Mills talked about how there's no pressure to continue strips in 2000AD once they end, and he often takes years to find the perfect artist before starting a new volume of a popular strip. For example, mentioning again "Flesh," which has taken him 30 years to continue, will begin again in the near future after finally finding the right artist.
May I be the first to punch the air and holler in glee? Do we know who the new artist is yet?

my friend andy who edits tripwire got me one !!
My contact came through for me, I have this beauty in my hands and I'm very impressed. The yellow 2000AD logo on the back rounds it off perfectly :D
so what was the correct year 2101 or 2100? It does indeed look like a very nice tshirt. I'm still waiting for my long sleeved shirt from when I got a letter published way back when in The Meg. I've moved since then, but I'm sure the postie will know where to send it on to. Never give up hope, eh.
