Hi guys what's kickin finger lickin?

I need to hire around 6 artists for a series of short stories, 5 pages mainly with a science theme.  Deadline isn't tight but I want to have it printed up for Thought Bubble in November (that's where all the cool kids go). I'm paying - YES PAYING!!  I've already got some really interesting scottish artists involved but would like to look a bit further a field too.  Unpublished or highly esteemed is neither here nor there, it's a case of the right artist for the right stories.

So anyone interested drop me a line here or by pm with samples, prices and timescales and payment will probably be paypal, though I could write a cheque if you want to sell my autograph.

Much love tooth board and hope you are all having a wonderful day

Help! / storing progs without tripping over boxes
20 June, 2012, 04:10:16 PM
I had a very fun time digging out 4 boxes full of old 2000ad in order to pick one for wagner to sign. I still don't know what I'm going to take as... Well... I just ended up reading stuff and playing the 'whatever happened to *insert blank*' game with a friend. So that night I go to bed but needing to pee I get up and *bang* fall over one of the boxes and *bang* straight into another. Again, this morning trying to get dressed and arghh these boxes are in my way at every turn. I don't really want to put them back into 'storage' aka out of sight out of mind but I don't know how I should store them. I prefer to keep comics in plastic pockets in a ring binder but I can't find any that can fit 2000ads unusual size except oner place which is extortionately priced.

How do you all store your progs and do you know any sellers that I can get binders that won't cost the world since its a lotta lotta progs? Thanks fer yer time sweet cheeks x x

Events / Download 2012
12 June, 2012, 05:23:16 PM
Download 2012 music festival at Donnington park.
I had an absolutely amazing time and was wondering if anyone else went or was interested in discussions about Download in general. Ill put some brief reviews of who i saw and what i thought but its imhoymmv so please add your own reviews and thoughts. Ill warn you now that I really dont 'get' metallica so any and all attempts to persuade me otherwise will be in vain. Ill try and write them in order but i cant really remember...

Friday
fear factor (ok)
terrorvision (ace) - No tequila wtf?
acoustic Breed 77 (good) We only really wanted to hear Zombie
acoustic skindred (ace)
Machine Head (ace) - There was a huge pit that consisted of about 20 clowns. wtf win.
chase and status (epic) - Tough gig for them and they blew the lid off on the bass *No Problem
prodigy (epic)

Saturday
Black Veil Brides (ok) - Teenage heart throbs - adorable.
the yo yos (ok)
trivium (good) - they fill the slot slipknot should be.
most of Gun (good) - I had ice cream.
anti-nowhere league (epic)
couple of steel panther songs (funny) - The fans in their leopard print leggings and wigs are adorable
skindred (good) - accidentally ended up in a pit
Tenacious D (good) - no wonderboy wtf?
we watched metallica for a bit and almost died of boredom so watched a mad film about guys fighting over 2 million dollars. dunno what it was called but it was awesome and had the doc from planet terror in it. Imho Metallica arent the best for shredding, power ballads or vocals/lyrics so they just have no place in my brain for any function of music. I understand they have a crazy huge fan base and only band to sell out a day at download this year i heard on the campsite grapevine but just not extreme enough for me.

Sunday
Anthrax (good)
rival sons (ok)
sebastian bach (god awful) - Not my bag.
acoustic Mordecai (good)
lamb of god (ace) - what a pit
megadeath (ace)
soundgarden (mind blowing)
black sabbath (beyond mind blowing)

TOP 3 HIGHLIGHTS OF DOWNLOAD #3
What a band. So many hits to cram into their short 40 min set with So What, I Hate people, Streets of London, We are the League etc. Animal and the boys were as charismatic yet hard rocking as always - fantastic live band. Woman was my particular highlight as the atmosphere was electric with Animals emotional growls bridging to a hard rock ending that the whole crowd got into.

TOP 3 HIGHLIGHTS OF DOWNLOAD #2
Sound Garden blew my mind. Mixing it up between ferocious shredding and trancey guitar, with funked up 90s bass lines and wailing vocals. So great to see them back together after a 10 year hiatus and they seem to have little compromise, doing 10 min spinal tap-esque instrumental sections. chris cornell is still gorge. An energetic Outshined was my highlight as they shredded it so hard and it just reeked of tension.

TOP 3 HIGHLIGHTS OF DOWNLOAD #1
BLACK FUCKING SABBATH. What a dream come true to see ozzy performing with tony. A slightly shakey start on both vocals and guitar but they quickly found their groove a couple songs in. and when I say groove I mean HOLY FUCK THAT GROOVES ON FIRE. What a freakin epic performance. Original line up sabbath always had to be bucket list for me but the atmosphere and wailing perfect psyche guitar was like an atom bomb. They played all the big hits with Ozzy using every clap-your-hands frontman trick in the book and Tony backing it up with incredibly tight guitar playing. Absolute highlight was Fairies Wear Boots as it is just perfect for rocking live with its guitar frills and flourishes.

other miscellaneous details include gimps, slingshots, neon poi, festival shopping, cool camp neighbours, blow up bed bouncy castle and being really really really wasted x x

Help! / the shakes
07 April, 2012, 12:48:45 PM
good afternoon hivemind collective how are you all today? I have a 'problem' every morning that 4 different people have commented on and I was wondering if anyone thinks it is normal or a sign or underlying issues requiring a GPs assistance. Basically I get 'the shakes' if I haven't had anything to eat - my hands, particularly my left hand, shakes uncontrollably to a small degree. I didn't notice til people started pointing it out to me and saying that it wasn't normal. This happens regardless of the previous nights sobreity and right up until I eat something. At first I reckoned it was because of the cold but it happens even when I don't feel cold. I think its probably just my caffiene addiction - does this cause shakes? - but I'm worried it could be low blood pressure or a slight diabetes. I would rather not go to the doctors unless strictly necessary.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Ta for your time x X x

Film & TV / Judos film reviews
21 March, 2012, 11:21:06 PM
I see pretty much all the films like SRSLY. Mainly because I get paid to watch them at work *as well as* just straight up lovin' films, film buff stylee. I'm often reaally fussy cos I see so many and after the first million they all feel samey - so YMMV and feel free to argue just an IMHO of the films oot at the flicks currently

Bel ami - 3/5 - robert pattison fucking everyone. Period drama. It was quite well done but i wasn't entirely sure what the plot was. This may be due to pattisons limited acting talent. Very much a book I think.

Project X - 3/5 - idea based on a true story of high school kid trashing his house having a party. Incredibly over the top but good enough for a laugh. Garden gnomes full of ecstasy, lots of pretty teens etc

The raven - :'( I'm not even rating this other than to say WTF. In a 1-3 rating way depending on offence taken to the rape of poe. John cusack was terrible as poe (he's just not right) and the who dunnit angle was very laboured. I guessed who it was but only by default. Dinghy this and go read pit and the pendulum cos that's like my fave horror story ever

Safehouse 3.5/5 - I did enjoy this and found it exciting and tense but a boring done to death plot. corrupt government agents names on microchip and ooh who to trust dn dnn DNNNN yeah whatever seen it a million times tv movie.

Wanderlust 3/5 - I may be being harsh here cos a lot of my friends thought it was hilarious but I dunno hippies and nudists etc are kinda easy prey imho and not exactly what I call stella wit to make fun of. Lots of ugly naked old dudes.

Woman in black 2/5 - It has been a long time since I saw this many b-horror cliches in one film. And I watch the horror/scifi channel films. Creeky rockin chairs, rattling door nobs, a marsh, creepy woman at window in back of shot, creepy things in photos, porcelin dolls... Like SRSLY I could keeping going. Harry potter daniel radcliff also in no way looks like he has a 4 year old son and works for a law firm. One for the 12-16 range.

I don't get to see 3d films cos a lot of autistic people don't like wearing glasses. Is anything else out I mighta seen it can't remember everyone of them sometimes x

Events / Glasgow - QMU Comic Mart
13 March, 2012, 05:23:28 PM
EVENT - QMU Comic Mart
TIME - Saturday, 12pm - 3pm, April 7th, 2012
LOCATION - Queen Margaret Union, 22 university gardens, Glasgow university.
DESCRIPTION - Usually the biggest mart in Glasgow and runs every year. The usual chance to pick up cheap comics, dvds, games, cards, toys from dealers and randoms with too big a collection. There are usally lots of the indie small press people kicking about, trying eagerly to convince you to check out their work but I'm not sure who this year.

I had a brilliant time at this last year so I am very excited. I like to 'designate' £15ish to picking up indie comics to support the newbies. Afterwards, of course, pubs and madness with the comic crew til the early hours. If anyone would like to join give me a wee bell.
Take care and stay classy, Dawn x x
