Ah, it's nowt more than a bit of fun at the expense of a high ranking figure - 2000ADs been doing that for years!

You'd think Cliff would have a better grasp of basic anatomy than that.  Those hands are totally out of proportion with an adult that size.   ;)

And the hair is far too realistic.
Tut tut, Cliff.

I'm going to be honest, I'm not a fan as it suggests 2000 AD/Dredd is an alt right publication to inspire actual facists. Basicly, if you're on Trumps wave length, it reads like an ad for something you might enjoy.

I don't think that is actually the intent, rather I think it's suppose read like Trump is taking real world inspiration from childish fantasy. But do you really want to push the idea of 2000 AD being the home of the ideas of simpletons?

In short, the message is all over the place imo And doesn't paint 2000 AD in a good light via either interpretation.

That happens with Judge Dredd anyway. People either get the joke/commentary, or they don't.

Or... it could be commenting on the long-standing inability of the political right, and the American political right in particular, to grasp the fact that Dredd is satire. Also, a neat way to get your Sniper Elite 4 ad a lot of free coverage.

No it doesn't. It suggest that what some see as satire other, less intelligent people, see as a guidebook.

Nonsense.

dweezil2

It's pretty obvious that it's blatant satire, I don't know how you could interpret it any differently.
Especially given 2000AD's long history of exploring fascism and despotic regimes.

I'm having extreme difficulty seeing this as anything but a mildly cringeworthy gag, playing on the '2000AD predicts the future' theme, with added 'Dredd depicts a fascist dystopia, but Trumpkins probably think it's aspirational'. Unfortunate overtones I cannot detect.

That said, the alt-right and MRA allies have adopted 'snowflake' (popularised by Fight Club) and 'red pill' (from The Matrix), so who knows what they might take from our brand of altered reality...

Now, you see, part of me wants someone to send Trump a copy of The Day The Law Died so he thinks replacing Mike Pence with a goldfish is a smart move but on the other hand I don't want him to get the idea of opening the phone book and seeing who's listed first under 'A'. And for Grud's sake, don't nobody show him a copy of The Apocalypse War!

Making fun of those in power is never pointless.
