Know there's going to be an awful bias asking Boarders here, but would you care to swing by my Blog and vote for your favourite in this Poll?

WhizzBang

I had to go for Judge Dredd but if you had cut your poll off at before 2000AD then I would have wanted to vote for someone not on your list - Roy Of The Rovers!

Zarjazzer

I voted for Judge Dredd it's really what got me into comics in the first place.
The Justice department has a good re-education programme-it's called five to ten in the cubes.

I ignored all the 2000ad stuff to give the rest a chance, I went for Adam Eterno, love the story, love the art. there is a lot more on that list thats great too, Stark, The Steel Claw, Easy.
One thing your missing off the list is DC Thomson stuff, King Cobra, General Cadman, Alf Tupper, to name a few are great stories too.

Voted Dredd but perhaps should have voted Dan Dare or Hammerstein.

Could it be an AV poll where your second or third choice counts as well? ;)

Just to spice things up I also ignore the 2000ad stuff but then fondmy choice almst as predictable and plumped for Charley Bourne. The cream will raise to the top!

Afraid not - there's a potential ultimate goal to this and, if it comes off, there can be only one...

sadly absent (but understandably so as it has been long neglected) is Whizzers from Ozz which was one of those odd non-comedy strips in Topper. Featuring a kid who befriends two aliens (who also look like teenage boys) doing all sorts of action adventure stuff like travelling galaxies and saving aeroplanes falling from the sky. Illustrated by the talented Paddy Brennan from Ireland its a real treat despite its 'gosh jeepers and home in time for tea' 12 year old world-view.

If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

Axel is just a year out - first appeared in 1979 and more prominent after Warrior in 1982.

Am sure there are some preliminary sketches from 1978 could sneak him in.

Ahhh, but Dark Star wasn't really a boys comic was it?
Nice try though  :D
And a shame - any excuse to bring the strip into the light is a good excuse, what with brilliant Steve Dillon interiors:

And some stunning Gary Leach covers for the American reprints:

Ding Dong!!! :o nice pics!

I did not know you had a blog Mr Mangamax but I do now and will keep an eye on it as I love old British comics.

One of my favourite characters which is not on your poll list is One-Eyed Jack which I believe may have been one of the influences for helping develop JD.
