I will be visiting Dublin and Belfast in mid-June, I could bring some progs with me if anyone wants to fill some gaps in their collection and save on postage!

(I could also post elsewhere in RoI/UK at normal postage rates).

Update: all progs up to 300 are sold or reserved. Everything else still available.

Anyone have any idea who the politician is/was?

General / Cameos in early progs
03 April, 2017, 09:49:15 PM
So I started reading 2000AD from prog 1... in Invasion, we have cameos of Prince Charles (King Charles in the story), newscaster Angela Rippon and--according to Pat Mills--Margaret Thatcher being executed on the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral (though it doesn't look much like her and the character is identified as Lady Shirley Brown).

In prog 2, "members of parliament are strung up from the lamp-posts". Was the character in that frame a real MP from 1977?

Are there other cameos by real-life people in the first year or so of 2000AD?

Progs in the range 100-1526 For Sale

Having completed my collection of the first 1,500 or so progs, I'm selling off my doubles!

I have multiple spare copies of some progs, including issues with free gifts. I am happy to break up the collection. I'd prefer to sell in batches of 100 or so but I don't mind if you want to cherry-pick the progs you want.

Condition

All are at least F condition (with a few exceptions noted below).

Many are VF, many have no newsagents marks.

I don't have time to grade each prog but feel free to ask if you are after a particular issue.

Cost

Nominally £1 each, £5 for progs with a free gift attached. Plus postage at cost (see caveat below). Feel free to make me an offer, particularly if you want to buy the whole collection or for bulk buying of progs >500.

Caveat: I live in France, so postage costs are going to be higher than in the UK. To give you an idea, a 10 Kg box costs €35 with La Poste (estimate other weights online at https://boutique.laposte.fr/affranchissement-a-domicile/colissimo-en-ligne/tarifs). I can give you a firm postage quote before you commit, or feel free to arrange collection with your own choice of courier.

I do travel to the UK from time to time, mostly London and Belfast, so if you want to save on postage and don't mind waiting a few months that might be another option.

The Guardian are looking for 2000AD-related contributions:

2000AD, the home of Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog and venerable editor Tharg the Mighty, has turned 40, and to celebrate, we want to hear how the comic shaped your life, see your collections of comics or other assorted 2000AD-related paraphernalia.

I bought a collection of 2000ADs on Ebay and this was included. As I remember, the seller was a relative of the original owner who was clearing out their stuff, so they didn't know anything about it.
