Thank you  - that's sorted it :)

Great, glad to hear it!

EDIT: Could you try again? Although we had recently updated the certificate (see attached), it seems we hadn't updated the certificate chain, so some older browsers may not have liked the certificate. I'd also recommend updating to the latest version of Chrome, if not already on it.

We've updated the new 2000ad.com website again today with some improvements, the main front-end changes are:

Home "hero" image layout:

  • On desktop the cut has been moved up the page, revealing more of the news posts underneath.
  • On mobile there is now support for a mobile specific, square image (so should look better in portrait orientation on mobile)

Other:

  • Video' posts now use the featured image when displayed in News (i.e. usually a square one). The 16:9 thumbnail is still used in the Videos section of the home page and on the Videos page.
  • ...and a whole bunch of small layout and styling tweaks.

Hopefully these changes will make for a better experience when using the site, please let us know if you have any further feedback.

Thanks Steve - glad it worked this time, but it does sound like there are some issues with the Captcha not always working first time that we need to investigate further

Tried submitting via the contact form but the captcha failed. (Microsoft Edge Browser)

Hi Steve - when you say the Captcha failed, what actually happened? Did it display an error message? Did the Captcha ask you to do anything (e.g. one of the tests to identify things in a photo)? Is your computer behind a proxy or operating over a VPN?

Also, if you refresh the contact page and try again, do you get the same Captcha error, or does it work when you do this?

BTW with the permission of Tjm86 I've stickied this post for a bit, as we're interested to get some more feedback on the new site (and/or the 2000 AD shop site) and this thread seems to be an appropriate place for this - or else you can PM me directly, or use the contact form on the new website (selecting the "Website Technical Problems" option). Thanks!

The 'about 2000ad' / History section could do with a bit of work.  It would be a good place to put links to the 2000adABC series.  Would also be nice to see some character / major story outlines.  Pretty sure some sort of wiki would get plenty of love from these parts.

Thanks for the feedback, the current "About" section is placeholder really, for now, and will get some more attention soon.

Hi Eamonn - I've forwarded your feedback onto the relevant people, I'm unsure what the current policy is on this myself, but will let you know if I have confirmation of anything.

As for the 2000 AD forum - we're unlikely to be changing the forum software anytime soon, other than keeping it up-to-date with patches, but hope to give it a minor styling refresh soon to bring it more inline with the new 2000ad.com site.

As long as your keeping it there and up to date I'm happy with that.

That's the intention!

Hello to the software droids! Please look into continual timeouts when the Windows 2000AD app tries to connect to the store. It's a nice app but half the time I have to download directly from the website when I'd rather the app managed it for me.

Hi wedgeski - apologies for this, we are aware of some recent performance issues with both the apps and the web shop (which share some of the same backend code), though especially with connection issues for the former. We have taken some initial action to try to improve this situation (including giving the servers more resources), but are also currently working on a number of performance improvements to the underlying code, which hopefully will help.

Yes, looks like a big improvement. I will say that the shop hasn't changed either, and is still awkward to navigate.

We're also looking to give the interface of the 2000 AD shop a bit of a refresh soon, though initially this will likely be focused mostly on fitting in better with the new 2000ad.com site, rather than changes to how the site is navigated - however if you have any specific feedback on how you think the latter could be improved, please do let us know and we'll see what we can do - we're open to suggestions!

Also, we're currently working on a number of performance improvements for the 2000 AD shop, as are aware that it can be slow to respond at times, which can be frustrating.

Thanks for the positive feedback about the new 2000ad.com website, it's not just a redesign, it's running on a completely different platform from the old site, though we've tried to bring all the existing material across (news posts, thrillcast links, ABC video links etc.), so most of the old content should still be there, but hopefully now more accessible.

There are still further improvements we're going to make to the site, but please do let us know if you encounter anything that doesn't seem to be working as expected.

As for the 2000 AD forum - we're unlikely to be changing the forum software anytime soon, other than keeping it up-to-date with patches, but hope to give it a minor styling refresh soon to bring it more inline with the new 2000ad.com site.

There's interesting.  I'm running Safari on a 2012 MacBook pro with catalina beta without any major problems.  Granted its slow but no more so than normal.

BTW regarding the slowness of the site, we have some work in the pipeline that should significantly improve the performance (it has done so in testing), but we need to do some more work on the changes before they're ready for releases. Will post an update to this section of the forum when those changes go live.

Still deeply weird on Apple kit, FWIW. Flickering scrolling on an iPad, and barely usable on a Mac running Safari. (It works fine in Chrome, and so I imagine there's some kind of scripting weirdness going on with your custom scrolling routines.)

Thanks for the feedback, we'll look into this further. It would help us to get to the bottom of these issues if you could provide the version number of iOS that you're running on your iPad (and also ideally which model of iPad) and also the Mac OS X / Safari version on your Mac, then we can run some checks against those.

Also are there any particular pages or sections where these problems occur e.g. the product categories carousel perhaps?: https://shop.2000ad.com/catalogue

Thanks!

As part of our on-going work to improve the 2000 AD web shop, we've deployed a significant update to the 2000 AD web shop today, primarily addressing a number of usability issues, especially relating to the management of addresses and payment methods, but we've also tried to make the user interface for checkout clearer and more consistent, which will hopefully make it more straightforward to use. There are also some layout improvements for browsers on mobile devices.
