It's not for me, it's for a friend.

The Enigmatic Dr X

Today I took a copy of the soundtrack to 70s quasi-porn flick "Vampyros Lesbos" into work. I ordered it from Amazon for a colleague (hey-don't judge me, check out the reviews on Amazon - I think I've included a link). He DJs on a semi-professional basis and uses that kind of tune.

It did strike me, though, that I was probably the only person out of the hundreds on my train carrying the soundtrack to a 30 year old Italian softporn flick.

Which begs the question, what's the strangest thing anyone on the board has taken into work?

How about when you were drunk? I once found a kitchen sink on Buchanan Street (and seeing as how everyone on this board knows Glasgow, that should be familiar to you) on the 3am night bus from George Square.

i once had a work colleague who was an ex-RAF Regiment Officer bring an M72 66mm LAWs (Light Anti-tank Weapon) Rocket launcher into work for me. obviously without the rocket.....

i had this hung on the wall over my computer whilst at university until some little scumbag burgled me and took my hi-fi and the rocket launcher (he crawled through a very small window to get in and out)....it made for an interesting incident report with the police though..(i lived in moss side at the time!!)

For my own part, I once brought a Christmas tree stuffed into a cardboard tube into a nightclub in Germany. Not sure why, my memory of the night is hazy.

Which begs the question, what's the strangestthing anyone on the board has taken into work?

Lets see, the strangest thing would have been a hand sewn (by my little self) wizards costume, and my mother-in-law's..er, sorry, a vampire skull. It was Halloween.

Oh, I forgot the time I brought in hundreds of plastic army men, aranged them into formation on an empty desks and took photos of them.

(We had a lot of work on then, and frequently worked 14 hour days, so a lot of strange stuff happend late at night. Ah, glory days...)http://www.arthurwyatt.co.uk/armymen.jpg">

We had a number of Nerf guns that we used to fight between the production support teams and development.  Strangely (not if you know anything about IT), development used to start the fights having a lot of time on their hands.

Oddest thing I ever brought into work was a black lace bra and panty set withh all the trimmings.  My wifes best friend stayed at her house after a girl night out and left them.  My wife dutifully washed them and gave them to me who took them back.  She worked in the same Building as I

My big Brov, tells a tale of me, which I don't remember... which included a heavy snow fall in Central Edinbro, me telling him 'not to live his life like a Tom Waits song' whilst i proceeded to use a fresh salmon to stop a night bus between bus stops on Princes St. The bus fishtailed (hoho)in the snow to an emegency stop upseting all on board. I then attempted to tell the driver (wrongly) that I was really at a bus stop and what i thought of his driving, lucky my Brother: Pinheed, had the good grace to batter (hoho) me about the head with the salmon, much too the amusement of the driver and upset passengers, needless to say the fish never made it home with me and was, perhaps, left on the bus.

My Brov once left four years worth of paintings, sketches and canvases on the Lisbon to Paris bus.You know how it feels when you lose a couple of pages when you don't 'save'on yer PC? multiply that feeling by four years!! he was gutted ( Sorry King Trout, thats the last fishy reference I hope)

The biggest thing ever left on a bus was me! I once awoke at the back of a double decker in Musselburgh Bus depot at about 3am. All the depot doors were locked from the outside and it was very dark, very cold and spooky. That was when the pubs shut at 11, so feck know how long I had been there or what majical mystery tour I took to get there.

On a general "leaving things" type note, on September 18th 2001 I was in the USA and left my passport, Mrs X's passport, our plane tickets and all our holiday photos in a taxi.

The AMericans, understandably, were very strict about security.

I can still see Mrs X's face, contorted with tears, as she utters the soul-damaging, heart-felt sob: "Being married to you is my worst nightmare."
