I just listened to this BBC radio thing, and thought it may interest some folks here...  Lots of funny snippets about the origins and history of those scary dustbin things; enjoy!

p.s. Does anyone have a copy of the Dalek Christmas song?

Yes, and it's more dreadful than you can possible imagine...
The wages of sin are death, but the hours are good and the perks are fantastic.

Sing along!

I'm gonna spend my Christmas with a Dalek by the Go Go's

DALEK: I bring you greetings from all Daleks

1st Verse
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: I'm gonna spend my Christmas with a Dalek,
And hug him underneath the mistletoe,
And if he's very nice,
I'll feed him sugar spice,
And hang a Christmas stocking from his big left toe,
And when we both get up on Christmas morning,
I'll kiss him on his chromium plated head,
And take him in to say 'hi' to mum,
And frighten daddy out of his bed!

Chorus
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas!
DALEK:  Mer-ry Christ-mas!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Happy Cwistmas!
DALEK:  Hap-py Christ-mas!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas! To you!
DALEK:  Mer-ry Christ-mas!

DALEK:  I wish to be your friend!
DALEK:  Please may I have some more plum pud-ding and cus-tard

2nd Verse
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: I'm gonna spend my Cwistmas with a Dalek,
And if I make him happy I will stay,
He'll go -BLIP- and -WHIRR- and twidddle his eye,
And then my little Dalek will say:

ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas!
DALEK:  Christ-mas time!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Happy Cwistmas!
DALEK:  Mistletoe!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas! To you!
DALEK:  Mer-ry Christ-mas!

ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas!
DALEK: I love you!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Happy Cwistmas!
DALEK: You love me!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Merry Cwistmas! To you!
DALEK: More plum dud-ding!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Happy Cwistmas!
DALEK: More cus-tard!
ANNOYING GIRL VOICE: Happy Cwistmas!
DALEK:  Mer-ry Christ-mas!

It's not so much the Daleks calling for plum pudding and custard that makes my blood boil, as much as the suggestion that their heads are plated in chromium ...

Lobo: any chance there's a sound file of that anywhere?

Not that I know of - but it's on the 'Who is Dr. Who (The Amazing Musical Adventures of Dr. Who and his friends)' CD.

It also features the work of such non-singing singers as Frazer Hines and Roberta Tovey.

I also know all the words to 'Doctor in Distress', but even the Daleks, ruthless though they are, would think twice before releasing such evil upon the world...

No, no, NO!

Everyone knows that Dalek armour is made of bonded polycarbide.

Dalekanium is a versatile and powerful explosive.

I think you'll find that depends on which episode you're referring to, there. Certainly, in Day of the Daleks, Dalekanium was used to create a bomb. Nonetheless, The Dalek Invasion of Earth features a mention of dalek casings being made from it also.
