Is the reporter at the start of the Dredd strip supposed to be Alan Yentob perhaps? Or some other sycophantic grifter I haven't recognised....  Mar-O-Larger will be reality in a few years, tenner bet :)

a small contingent have set to crowing about how they've taken back control of their tiny portion of the world, just as it goes to absolute shit.

Amazing how well this fits elsewhere

One of my favourites.

The free market works if all parties are rational actors who act with long-term interest.

This is evidently even more ludicrous than the most passionate revolutionary communist.

Revealed that I grew up in the 90s. The Flash is obviously Barry Allen, not Wally West :P

Flash is good, has loads of nods to DC easter eggs. You need a break though as every problem can be solved by RUN FASTER WALLY (and Wally is an idiot, likeable but an idiot. Stop messing with time Wally!)

La Tortue Rouge - French/Japanese animated film in which a shipwrecked man encounters a giant red turtle which he kills and fucks, in that order.  Bloody French.
Worth a look if you fancy letting the kids watch something different.

Factually accurate, tonally dissonant :P

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Plowed through The Outsider by Stephen King in a couple of sittings. Nothing groundbreaking but thoroughly readable, a slightly too-quick jump to a full understanding of the supernatural is the only real flaw I had. Sad now it's over.

Rather enjoying horror comic Infidel, which has a growing creepy occult vibe tied in to the bubbling anger beneath identity politics. Can't way for #4 now it's all kicked off.

Also read Rat Queens. Gave up after relaunch, was convinced to try again, lost me again somewhere between #8 and #9. Just no idea what the hell is happening.

Power Rangers. God the 90s version was so much...better? And I don't mean just because I was 8.

Everyone should watch Over the Garden Wall on Netflix. I bought the DVD of this years ago but it's America-region only, so have not been able to share my love for this weird animation of woodsy horror and whimsy. It's really good stuff and has some great voice work too.

Well my post went awry but all it amounted to was 'Well that's a shame'. Was nice for Syfy to make decent sci-fi for a bit.

Who "wins PMQs" seems a matter of what the papers or BBC say, and so far they all lean heavily towards whatever pre-written joke May or her cronies have rather than engaging with the questions asked. All the focus is on the PMQs, not the PMAs.

Other Reviews / Re: 2000 AD Regened: Reviews of FCBD 2018

I'm going to buck the trend and say I didn't like it, but I appreciate what it was trying to do - just that in previous years, 2000AD has had the best comic by far and this time, it didn't do anything for me. Mind you I think this was a generally weak FCBD (Not even a mouseguard)
