Arkwright- if you get a replacement 'Red Curtain'volume sent and want to find a good home for a copy of Hunting Party- PM me and I'll happily take it off your hands for postage plus...
Hachette are going to send out the correct issue 65 but they also want me to send the duplicate issue 64 back them, I'm afraid. Sorry.  :(

Apologies for interrupting the flow of this thread - just wondering if the two 'Tour of Duty' volumes in the mega Collection are exactly the same as the old Rebellion editions, or if they have extra / different contents? I am enojying the luxury of being able to choose which of two excellent trade collections to pick from to build up my own ideal Dredd library!

They're different. The Hachette volumes include more material from the Meg. There's also a third volume leading up to the events of the other two, still to come. Hachette as they are, not bothering to release stuff in order!

Really enjoyed The Hunting Party, that great sandbox of the Cursed Earth yielding some great stories and art.

Any opinions on Samizdat Squad?

AlexF

Thanks, Levers! Sounds as if it's worth holding out for the Hachette triple-pack to get the ultimate Tour of Duty experience.

Samizdat Squad is a bit uninspiring. After a cracking Bolland cover there's the Mark Millar Red Razors series. After an initial flurry of bonkers ideas helped by Steve Yeowell's solid art it all goes a bit wrong. Talking horses, Elvis worshipping & Scooby Doo can't build into a decent story. It commits the usual sin of throwing a (defrosted) Dredd into the mix. I didn't really get this series is set in the future - post current Dredd. Samizdat squad itself has great art & an unusual initial premise linked to the Apocalypse war. Maybe a bit of Orlok would have livened this volume up. It seems like a huge book - the spine is big. Looking forward to Missionary Man & Mad City.

Just finished reading Brothers Of The Blood, what a cracking volume that was.
There's been a few duffers but it's been a great collection generally.

No worries at all. I'll just pick this one up from the webshop along the path...

Is Mad City looking like it'll be an Oola Blint volume?

Makes sense that it would include her remaining stories, but might be more of a general 'Mad citizens' theme - Oola doesn't have all that large a page-count when you take away the Doomsday appearances and the last story. Otto Sump, the 'Mental Card' guy, classic comedy one-shots like Finger of Suspicion... That's what I'm expecting.

Could be a truly great volume depending on what's picked!

Sounds like it might be one worth picking up if things go according to plan!

Just finished Brothers of The Blood. Best volume since the last Tour Of Duty book. Hadn't realised there was another clone in the shape of Dolman!

Wondering if we now have a full set of Vienna stories? Though can't recall if we've had her first outing yet?

The original Vienna story hasn't appeared, it would be nice if it did to complete the set. Which may be possible as...

Official confirmation on the Facebook page that the collection has been extended to 90 issues. Does this mean the 2000AD collection won't be going ahead?

Speculation on the contents of the additional issues: all the Bloods of Satanus, Dark Justice, Enceladus, Lawless, more recent Anderson? Are there sufficient Black Atalantic stories to fill a volume? Any other ideas?

IndigoPrime

Do you have a link to an official confirmation?

There a reply to a post on the Facebook page.  Question was asked about comments made when ringing the call centre.  Response has come from the Mega Collection.

I'm in two minds on this.  Although there has been an uptick of late, some of the volumes have not been a great choice to showcase the best of the Dreddverse.  Maybe they will address some of the shortcomings / omissions.  If that is the case then it'll be worth it.  Otherwise I think I might cancel my subscription and pick up the volumes I want on eBay.

Fungus

I thought the spine image was reliant on 80 books ?  ;)

Some multi-limbed mutie spreadeagled across a few more books would work. I guess. Or: the Jigsaw Man!

Anyway, just ordered 4 books direct, there has been an upswing so my cherry-picking has gained pace. Read Paranoia the other day, loved it.

Ah, yes:
QuotePlease be advised that the series has been extended to a planned number of 90 issues however the titles have not yet been released.

Honestly, this is something that should really be communicated to subscribers, who plonked down money on the basis of a finite collection of 80 books.
