Found a copy of 'The Death of Superman' for only £2.99 at Forbidden Planet. I hadn't read it in years, so I've been having all sorts of strange flashbacks of being ten years old. Good and bad so I guess that's something

JohnnyStress is on the money. I read in this months Empire that he's being followed around by his brother-in-law Casey Affleck who is documenting his life whilst he "destroys" his career. It sounds like some twisted, bizarro performance arts piece to me.

Man! Did anyone see last nights episode? Paddy Considine was amazing and stuff started to make sense. Great television.

QuoteConstant masturbation or "Saving up".

Every now and then, I like to challenge myself and see how long I can really save for. I can manage roughly ten days but then it starts to affect my thought processes and the inside of my head is like a Bret Easton Ellis novel.
"We all have our private weaknesses." BAM! BAM! BAM!
I have not read any of the books but decided to watch purely for the quality of the cast. Andrew Garfield's Eddie Dunford was a strange, not very likeable character; he must have had sex about five or six times in the first half hour but things balanced out over the course of the film I suppose (Ouch). Sean Bean, as ever, was first rate.

What is the name of the guy who played the newspaper editor. He was in the Post Office ads and that strange show where he played John Prescott and had sex with Miranda Richardson a lot. He is the man. Simply.

I think I'll check out the books.

Film & TV / Re: Ross Kemp in Afghanistan

Saw 'Ross Kemp in Afghanistan' the first time round. I was cracking up when they kept taking the piss out of Kemp at the firing range and using every opportunity to bring up 'Ultimate Force'. It is an excellent program. My mate Craig looks exactly like Ross Kemp.

The Daily Mail makes me ill. In recent memory their crusade to have magic mushrooms criminalized represents one of the most shallow and reactionry campaigns I have ever bore witness to. Fair enough I'm giving them a bit too much credit for the re-classification of psilocybe but nobody gave a shit that you can fresh mushrooms over the counter for years and then Lynda 'How will this affect the price of my house?' Lee Potter heard it and it's suddenly a cause to ban this sick filth.

Not that that has anything to do with Kemp or Afghanistan but, hell, I didn't bring up the Daily Mail!

QuoteSomeday I hope to master you're amazingly colo(u)rful language.

You, sir, are linguistically discerning and I wholeheartedly commend you for it! I've lost count of the amount of times I have tried to get the boys in IT to set the default language to UK English on my Outlook. A 'z' in criticise may give the letter something to do for a change, but no thanks...

I got an email from "Celebrity Death Beeper" with the news. A significant part of Trek-law has now passed. This woman was there from the outset (as Pikes number one in the "Menagerie") and continued to contribute to all incarnations of Trek both in voice and in person. My favourite episode with her was TNGs "Menage a Troi" where she, as Lwaxana Troi, was fighting the advances of an amorous fereghi. Er... it was a better episode then it sounds.

RIP Majel

When I heard that Liev Schrieber was going to play Victor Creed I was dubious, but upon seeing some of the footage he looks perfect for the role.

I'm not as worried about the guy playing Gambit as I am about Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool. Part of me thinks it's inspired casting but then I remember it's Ryan Reynolds.

I'll definitely see this at the cinema, tho.

Quote from: "Krombasher"I just caught it from my favourite part where they are all tied to the chairs. And missed the bit that makes me jump out of my chair the most. Magnifico.

Has anyone seen the episode of South Park where they parody that scene?
Cartman is basically playing MacReady and he is using the same scalding hot pin method on blood samples to see which of his class mates has lice.
Hilarious.

Film & TV / Re: Terminator Salvation Full Trailer

From the looks of it, I think all continuity is going out the window (no change there then for the franchise). Cause and effect and all that time travel jive is ideal for writers in this sense. "It's not the future my mother thought it would be..." or something like that.

Essentially, all references to previously unseen terminators are null and void so I can see the T-600 rubber skin stuff perhaps taking a back seat.

This is a good movie. There was nothing else on the first time I saw it and my first impression was that this was going to be one of those "regular guy gets pushed too far" gigs. I didn't even know it was based on a comic book until afterwards when I looked it up. A great film for messing with genre expectations.

Just checked out the Garfield Minus Garfield website (I hadn't heard of it before). One of the saddest, most depressing websites I've come across. I think it hits a little too close to home for my liking *sob* but from an objective stand point, pretty funny.
