Title: IDW Cry of the Werewolf and Deviations
Post by: Eamonn Clarke on 22 March, 2017, 08:11:13 PM
Both out today. So far the stand out impression is Dillon's beautiful black and white artwork and the various one page star scans, of which Duncan Fegredo's wins the prize for me.

Still waiting for my copies (and assorted variants) to arrive.

The Wagner/Grant/Dillon Cry Of The Werewolf is a recognised classic and I'm especially looking forward to McCrea's take on the tale, as I'm a big fan of his art.

As a side note, his work with John Wagner on the forthcoming Dredd 'Mechanismo' strip, as previewed in today's newsletter, looks particularly tasty!  :)

Lovely Fegredo art, I bought this as a print off him at the 40th bash!  :)

Now why did I think it was going to be a colourised reprint?  Wasn't going to get it on order at my local comic shop when they first asked me, but then I saw the mention of all the starscans and changed my mind.

Picked this up yesterday and there is a nice heft to them both, can't wait to get tucked up and consume them both in one sitting  :D

Wish I'd picked up that print- I've got it as my desktop BG and just keep staring- it is absolutely incredible.

Maybe next time...

Quite enjoyed that. Its a nice product. The art is great and some lovely posters in the back. It has a bit of filler in there to try to justify the price but need not have bothered as its a good story if the scripting feels a little functional.

Yeah over all good fun and I hope we get more of these deviations.

Picked up the John McCrea Deviations issue the other day. A lot of fun, with some amusing use of references to other stories from the same period to make sense of things.

I'm sure this isn't as much of a revelation for others but it's really interesting to see how much the colouring changes the underlying art.

Local comic store wants £12.99(?!) for this. Sounds a bit mad to me. Thinking of trying my luck with FP's online store.

Forbidden Planet online have it at a reasonable price, but that Ryan Brown variant seems to be rarer than hen's teeth and is going for big bucks on Ebay!

I too just picked up the deviations this week. Really enjoyed it - it was a fun surprise to see ol' '
Tomato-Sauce Clayderman
' show up, hardly recognized him at first not draw by Smith.

I thought it ended kind of abruptly, but I suppose that's a good thing that it left me wanting more.

Yep - the lesson is to look at the artist's website and see that they're still available (http://www.duncanfegredo.co.uk/) :-P

Unrelated - forgive me - but there's an excellent dynamic picture of Hellboy on a horse on that site. A free print too apparently.

Yeah, Cycle of the Werewolf. I'm curious about this one, but I may trade-wait.
