It ain't no A Life Less Ordinary. That's for sure.

It might have come down to Alec Worley going, "Ooo gives us a go! Gives us a go!" & Tharg thought, "Let's run it in the prog & see what happens."

Feral & Foe & Kingmaker have proven that there is room in the line up for a fantasy strip that isn't Slaine.

Any chance of a Black Beth crossover?

Quote from: norton canes on 27 March, 2024, 07:11:38 PMSo this Hawk thing is Hawk the Slayer, yeah? I know Garth Ennis wrote a limited edition series but it seems like a strange thing to go into the prog.

Which suggests to me that the trade collection may have sold well but not the invididual issues of the original comic.

It's definitely more at home in the prog than the Dreddworld remit of the Meg.

Bolland posted that comment in a discussion about 2000AD annuals.

Make of that what you will.

Quote from: The Enigmatic Dr X on 31 May, 2023, 08:50:02 PM*I mean a new 2000ad/Dredd annual. But the comments applies to the old, too

Ol' Green Bonce's ears must have been burning.

Brian Bolland on Facebook just then:

"There's a 2025 annual coming."

Mike Carroll has mentioned on Facebook that Book V is the final series. So given the new end date of 2025 Tharg might be able to squeeze the entirety of Proteus Vex into the UC.

New interview on Down The Tubes with Garth Ennis on the return of Battle Action in 2024: Creating War Comics: Garth Ennis on the return of Battle Action in 2024.

Ten monthly issues! More Action strips! The return of that character!

It's listed on Amazon so Rebellion are clearly making the reprint more widely available & affordable to the general public. I'm aware of people outside of the UK who pre-ordered this through Diamond who never saw a copy. This paperback will also make it more practical for Rebellion to keep in print as well given Brisn Bolland's profile in the wider comics community.

No. That's the trade reprinting the first series of Scarlwt Traces along with their comic adaptation of The War of the Worlds.

Scarlet Traces: Empire of Blood was solicited as a prose novel from the Abaddon Books imprint of Rebellion Publishing.

I've had a sticky beak on Abaddon's site & I can only see the Scarlet Traces original prose anthology which I bought brand new in hardcover in 2019.

Did that novel ever see print? I remember it being listed for pre-order but it disappeared around the publication date.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 06 November, 2023, 01:20:40 PMA letters page also, with Ol' Green Bonce inferring that the 2350 strips could get another airing, if enough people demand it. Or, you know, plead. He also confirms there will be another Burns strip in the Prog (his last): Nightmare, New York. And that D'Israeli's working on Edginton's Scarlet Traces prequel, Empire of Blood, due in 2024.

I had wondered about Nightmare as both John Burns & Kek-W had mentioned the strip on Facebook after The Order finished but have not said anything in the wake of John's retirement announcement.

Quote from: Richard on 02 November, 2023, 10:28:17 PMYes, I'm entirely in favour of more violence in the Regened prog, but animal cruelty is a different beast (ahem) altogether.

Isn't that what shooting robots is for?

Quote from: nxylas on 22 October, 2023, 04:14:02 PMI never thought too highly of Gibson's work until Halo Jones 3, and evidently he sometimes didn't think much of it himself. The following is his introduction to the 1984 Titan reprint of Day of the Droids.

Ian is specifically talking about Day of the Droids here. IIRC he was in a band at the time & was putting all of his focus on that. Which is why the art looks so rushed compared with the majesty that is Verdus, In hindsight he was so embarrassed by the result that he adopted the bylines Emberton & Q. Twerk because he didn't want the readers to associate his new work with his performance on that particular strip.

Quote from: Colin YNWA on 03 October, 2023, 08:17:07 AMInteresting that all the regular stories seem to be running through the end of year special.

Someone recently mentioned that the Dredd / Robo-Hunter one-off would have made perfect sense for the Christmas issue.
Have to agree.

Prog 2350 hit the shelves the same week as the trade reprinting the Eagle comics colour version of Verdus.

Tharg knew exactly what he was doing there.
