General / The Punishing Pensioner must die!!!
02 April, 2004, 06:30:43 PM
Theres plenty of talk of how they are going to replace/rejuvinate Dredd but does anyone read The Punisher. The mans origin is set in nam so he must be bordering on 60 and yet leaps about like a young un and beats the crap out of men half his age. Also, there is no sci-fi cures possible for him as he's supposed to be set in the real world so what are they gonna do there?eh...anyone?

General / Whats your favourite comic bargain?
24 March, 2004, 07:31:16 PM
As I mentioned on another thread I was on me hols last week in the city that never sleeps and took a day out to check out all the comic shops (I printed off a list from the yellow pages before I went).
Many had closed but there was one that blew me away,Alex's comic & baseball card shop I think it was called.Instead of selling individual issues they had a section of mini-series sold together.I bought -

13 issues of the establishment $15
1st 6 issues of promothea $15
6 issues of adventures in the rifle brigade $14
2 issues reprint of dredd "america" $2

but my fave was on I pulled out the bargain bucket while waiting at the counter.I just got it cos of the name and trashy cover."Tales to offend" for 50 cents which I discovered is written and drawn by frank miller and has a short sin city story in it.

Soooo...anybody else had an unexpected comic bargain?

Help! / Where should I start?
10 March, 2004, 08:52:53 PM
Hi all boarders,I've just decided I'm going to try and track down all the progs I gave away in my youth...which is loads!
I gave up reading at the Mark Millar/Robo-hunter stage and started again when Dredd/Sin City story started. As the ones in between seem to be the easiest for me to get at the moment I was wondering if there were any great stories I may have missed and if anyone could point me in the right direction.

P.S. Also theres an old story I partially remember about a guy with a beard escaping a VR prison. All I know is he jumped over someones head and choked them with a chain, anyone any idea what it was called?

Help! / Ned Buys 2000AD Shock!!!
04 March, 2004, 10:32:13 PM
Yesterday at 4pm in the Glasgow branch of F.Planet I witnessed a bloke wearing a Burberry cap buy extreme edition 3 and wondered if he was one of the people from here.
I would like to congratulate him on his good taste in reading material and the fact he is not ashamed to wear Burberry in public.
So if you are reading this...WELL DONE THAT MAN!!!

General / Mark Millar - Good or Bad???
25 February, 2004, 05:14:42 PM
Ok,before you all grab your pitchforks let me explain...
I stopped reading 2000ad/comics in general years back when it was going down hill but the main reason was when Millar destroyed Robo Hunter(my fave strip) so I  was quite surprised to find the comics I've read and enjoyed lately are by the very same chap.

So I came to wonder if any other boarders had read...

Red Son
Wanted
Chosen
The Unfunnies

and what they thought or has the work he did previously put you off reading his stuff for good?

General / Greetings & Salutations Earthlets

Hello one & all.I've been following the board for a couple of weeks now (while I should be working) and have now decided it's time to stop lurking and jump in.

I read 2000AD when I was younger but gave up when it went pear shaped but have been reading it and the Megazine for the past 2 years.

It's almost as good as it ever was in my opinion, but like most people I'd really like to see a Dredd epic.

Anyway just thought I'd say hello before I start commenting and you think "who the F*ck's this".
