The pen of my old A6 tablet is literally falling to bits in my hand, and as a new pen would cost about the same as I paid for this tablet (£35ish) I thought I may as well take the chance to upgrade entirely.
What I'd specifically like to know is how much difference the size of a tablet makes to working with it? A4 seems a little needlessly big, but I'm thinking of going for an A5 this time. Any thoughts? Any recommendations?

A5 or A6 even are more than enough.
I just got a Wacom Intuos III A5. It's great.
I had a larger one before but it took up too much space on the desktop.
I tried a wacom A6 widescreen in the shop last week .187.99 quid but didnt buy.The A5 widescreen is 300 quid for some reason.
the cheaper model is a Wacom Graphite is only 80 quid . I thought this was the best buy if you just want to draw and dont want gimmicks .
I wouldnt recommend going any bigger than A4, A5 is absolutely fine.
All i did was keep watching Ebay for older Intuos models. I eventually managed to get an A4 sized one for about £120 (which was pretty lucky at the time!)
Only thing to be careful of is to make sure you dont buy one with an incompatible connection, but the chances of that are very slim indeed.

Having now done a little research, an Intuos does seem like my best bet.
