Aquila largely leaves me cold. It's a problem when your protagonist is a moody, unlikeable lunk.Necronauts for me - unique, memorable, didn't outstay its welcome

My copies arrived today. Deadworld includes everything except the most recent FoD and Visions stories, Jessica and Transpolar.

Anyone know if either of those in the 3rd Deadworld HC?
I'm hoping I'll be able to continue with book 4 without missing too much.

The 3 hardcovers contain everything published in the prog so far.

Think that's Wren from Brass Sun.

Bumping because, frankly, I need the cash!
(also, can everybody see the image? I can't on my laptop for some reason.)

I'm going with Lenny Zero. Max, for me, is a good supporting character but not one to carry a full tale: I've already forgotten his last story apart from the art whilst with Lenny, for all the smugness and unpleasantness the stories are a good dose of seedy MC1 and I do enjoy a clever twist.

Yep, you've said it in a nutshell. Lenny Zero.

Droid Life was always a tough one to compare to more standard length action/adventure stuff. So it's nice at least that it bows out against a proper finals contender.

Yep. It did well to hold out as long as it did; no shame in going out now.

Anderson has been massively inconsistent over the years, but she's still a contender.

Also I'm not convinced that children really want to spend their free time reading comics about school.

Harry Potter?

Shakara. Shakara Shakara Shakara. Shakara? Shakara!

I hardly remember this book at all now, so reading it again should be interesting. I might still give book 9 a try first.

Don't worry, you've not fallen behind. CotSW next for me, too.

Playing it now, I'm more into the theme - I prefer a fantastical one, but I'm more into the horror concept now than I was back then and approached it thinking I might appreciate it more. I'm not sure it's especially well executed however: looking at it critically it's a bit of a mishmash of Hammer Horror tropes all kind of stuck together...

The series dabbles a lot more with gothic horror as it goes on, but marries it very successfully with the fantasy theme (most of Stephen Hand and Jonathan Green's books, plus a lot of Keith Martin's.)

As a kid the horror ones were by far my favourite - but even then I didn't really like House of Hell. I'll try and pinpoint why in a few playthrough's time. Maybe the modern-day setting? Maybe because it was too damn hard to be any fun?

The Alienist. Remind me, how did Skip Tracer end up in round 2?

He could drawn against Brit-Cit Brute. Personally, I just spoiled my ballot on that one!

I love Mean, but I'm not sure that his solo outings ever rose above the level of 'filler,' even though they were occasionally quite funny.

Storming Heaven has flaws - it feels like a hugely truncated longer story, for one - but it was massively innovative and imaginative (not something, with the best will in the world, that you could accuse the Mean stories of). Stunning to look at, too.

I'm a Tor Cyan apoligist, but Mercy Heights just isn't very good. An easy win for Brink here.

Does Judge Death kill Brian Molko? I'd read it if so.

Blerugh. Much worse - Placebo and their fans beat up the Dark Judges.

So you're sayin that it all breaks down at the role reversal?

😆 Bravo.

Incoming in a sec!
I'm been impressed with your restraint on giving up after death - I've finished all of mine so far, even if I've had to skip fights to do it (Snow Witch) or die over and over again until I have a good map (Dungeon)...

The thought of maxing stats or skipping fights causes me physical pain! I'm determined to do it all as God Ian and Steve intended, which means admitting I might not complete some in a hurry (if ever - like the imminent House of Hell!)

And I own so many gamebooks I've never yet played, I want to make sure I get to have a go at all of them before my enthusiasm wanes.
