Title: Urban Dead
Post by: Matt Timson on 28 May, 2006, 02:19:02 PM
I've just logged in, after being revived, only to find that all by gear is missing (and I had a LOT of gear).  Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm a bit fucked off, to be honest...

Ouch. Sorry mate.

Don't want to be a prat, but have you re-logged in? I've been on a couple of times when it had miscounted my AP, but I've not lost anything from my kit.

Have you stood up yet?  I thought all my gear had gone and when I stood up and started behaving like a living person again it was there.  For a while I assumed that you must lose all your equipment if you die, but I don't think that's the case.

I'm enjoying the game a lot really, and have just discovered the wonders of bargain hunting at a mall.  Snacktastic.

Also, the Firefox extension that gives you the groovy interface sometimes plays up and fails to display the item area.

Eh!?

If I see a zombie, and it doesn't say revive post, I kill 'em!  It isn't murder to kill the dead...

Was this the one in the PD last night?  Or had that been another one.

On the Links in the Yahoo group is a characters folder with links to everyones character. If you log onto UD with your character, then go to the character links and add them to your contacts. You will then be able to recognize fellow Necronauts whether they are alive, dead or undead! I'm sure someone sussed out a way add lots at once, but I can't remember who, or how...
Sarah, consider it a punishment beating for all those stories about talking helicopters you told me in a derelict building some time ago!!!!

I don't have the necronauts all listed in my contacts.  I have some of the ones I've come across, but not all.

I can only see one active Urban Dead thread (though I do use the old board system) and (picking another off topic post at random) two about MC Dicko.  Is it a big deal?

No Paul, Arthur is quite correct- I should've searched for, and ressurrected, what feels like an 80,000 post thread to have a bit of a moan.

It makes much more sense than starting a new one.

Loads, in fact.

Did I?

Hah!  I'm so useless at this game that I've only ever killed about 3 people - what are the chances that one of them was someone I knew?  Extremely small, I think!

You must be almost as useless as I....

I must admit- I was pretty surprised myself.  There's a lot of people playing and I've been wandering aimlessly for yonks- so it was pretty mad to get duffed up by sombody I already know.

If you meet any zombies with 'benno' in their names or one called ben byrne, they're me, say hi! I have 4 characters, all zombies, at 12,12,13 and 15 level sets, all far from each other so as to cause no hassles, looking for badly secured doors, then feasting on braaaains, eh, its a living!

And while you are at it, we are trying to get a set of the Mek-nificent 7 sorted as well.

So far we have:
(Sgt) Mongrol
The Mess
Mek-quake
Hammerstein.

It would be great to get a fullset, and maybe a set of Shadow warrior zombies? then we could have fights!

I'm also Doctor Maniacus, also operating (with robo-brain eating nano-snakes) out of Yagoton.  (However, there's also a Doc Maniacus.)

So are the A.B.C.'s gathering anywhere specific?

And can we agree a frequency to tune radios to for Necrfonaut communications? Could be a usefull tool once the initial jokey messages die down.

That's kind of far from the nearest mall - but I'll head over and have a look.  Blackblood is addicted to shopping.

Most of the Necronaughts are operating independently anyway.  Only screaming for resurection and assistance on an ad hoc basis.

Sign up to the Yahoo group though, we get to find out about engagements and things like that :)
I reckon there'll be some plan made soon as were all  nearly over 10th anyway

Title: Re: Urban Dead
Post by: House of Usher on 29 June, 2006, 09:49:23 PM
I've got one scientist living in a mall and running alternate first aid and zombie revive misions.

I've got a civilian who got killed on day one who has nearly 1,000 XP to spend when he gets made better.

And a bona fide bad zombie who got all the zombie skills, who got revived and is now a survivor with free running and no other skills, and no easy way to accumulate XP as a human.

Top tip: It's easier to collect XP as a zombie. If you get zombified, just get yourself some ace zombie combat skills and kill lots of zombies to accumulate XP for when you get made human again.

Now I have all the human skills (I don't want no zombie skills you undead scum), I'm a bit bored lately.  Anyone else's enthusiasm flagging or have you found things to do?

The pub crawl is fun, and once we get all the ABC warriors I want to set up a proper rumble. Other than that there isn't a lot more to do. I've got two characters with all human skills, one of which is now working on the zombie skils.

:: "Anyone else's enthusiasm flagging or have you found things to do?"

All four of my survivors have topped out their surivivor skills (although I refuse to buy the useless Knife Combat) - but there's still plenty to do, just not with a view to upping skills.

Blackblood is part of the ABC Warriors attempt to subdue Miltown.  It's an out of the way 'burb far from most players' interest (ie far from a mall), and it's kind of cut-off in terms of free running routes.  That's proving to be quite dangerous - especially as the local survivors have a tendency to feed newcomers to the local zombies.

Doctor Maniacus isn't doing much except taking down the occasional zombie  - but he's still fun to play because I'm seeing exactly how long about 4 of us can sit unmolested in a pub talking about snack food whilst the PD and hospital next door get continually broken into by a sizeable horde.  It's been about a month so far.

Jack Point's on the pub crawl - so as an excuse to explore the suburbs of Malton, that's been holding my interest as well.  We've been through what seem like quite peaceful, zombie free neighbourhoods and others where we've been the only survivors, setting up defence zones that soon get populated by (I presume) newer players.

Funt Solo's set up an HQ down in the south-east, which is providing a story all its own as other people have joined the Funt Detective Agency and started holding off continual attacks from the south.  We've still not had any clients, but are kept busy all the same.  A massive zombie horde consisting of multiple groups has just brushed past us, and will probably come back this way soon.

---

If I get bored, I'll turn zombie and see what the game's like from that perspective.

I got a text message from DXB on Dog Deever's mobile phone. I sent one back- but there are a few others we haven't heard from in a while too- PJ, Wodman, DXB, in fact, look at the Necronauts wiki, and check out the list of characters, we haven't heard from a lot of them.
Too much in game stupidity has made it so that most of my chracters have nowhere near all the skills.
Dog Deever has been playing nearly as long as most and longer than many, but he's still level 6!

Mr Ness is about level 13 or 14 and is going well with most of the survivor skills. I thought we'd had a couple of 'clients', cases now closed. And we still have two under investigation.

Aladdin Sain is still looking for the rest of his bandmates, although he's found the bass player and they have started a squat in an abandonned nightclub- so bandpractice and drinking occupies his time!

There's plenty to do that doesn't have anything to do with skills-levels. We are currently discussing further Malton Events for the Necronauts after the pub crawl is over.

As I've forgotten my password as fluffy - I'm borrowing Matthew's to post this.

Oopsie Daisy has just met her demise.. I've posted this on yahoo - but just in case I'm putting it here aswell.

Some horrid creature called Big Coffin Hunter has decided to kill and rape Oopsie Daisy. And in the most vile way.

I'm currently in North Blythville, laying dead outside the Knowles Cinema [27, 66], the scene of the crime.

I've taken a screen shot but don't know how to add the link from my computer - sorry, Matthew isn't here so I'm being a bit dim without his help.

Big Coffin Hunter is an absolute arse that really needs to be dealt with, so if anyone finds him please help me out and avenge my death.

Many thanks

Lisa

"Anyone got a map?"

Two.

Malton Meta-Tac Alpha 1.0 (http://www.amenable.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/metatac/%22%20target=%22_blank)

Both work faster in IE6 for some reason.  (The second one looks blank until you start adding things using the buttons on the right.  The first one tells you the square x,y when you hover over squares on the small close-up 'burb map.)

(To be merged next time I have a report due in and need something to divert all my energy into.)

-----

In terms of Oopsie Daisy's plight, I've called out the FDA over on the Nec-Yahoo:

Priority #1: Revive Oopsie Daisy. (North Blythville, outside Knowles
Cinema [27, 66])

Priority #2: Track and assassinate Big Coffin Hunter
(http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=214041). Twice. Because
he's a skanky bastich. And before you whack 'im, let him know.

Title: Re: Urban Dead
Post by: paulvonscott on 08 July, 2006, 05:44:41 AM
I had got bored and started taking risks, the PD I was in got raided and I was killed.  My own fault, I new it was likely to happen at some point, and could have avoided it easily.  I did start a new character, but my feeling is that, really, I might be done with the game.

There's a certain monotony to it after you have all the skills, of toing and froing, and the side that gives up first loses.  Having said that, I have enjoyed playing it these last few months, and I've played it more than most games.  I'd stll recommend it to people.

I have a few PS2 games I haven't played, including I'm ashamed to say, the Rogue one, which I was really looking forward to.  So I might spend my time playing that in future.

Due to unexpected circumstances, the game server is currently experiencing some DNS propagation issues which your character may be being affected by.
The server's new IP is 217.112.87.10 - if you're getting a message that 'The Urban Dead server is currently down for maintenance', you can access the game directly at New Location
