House of Usher

Although I've not watched Funny Games, I've seen The Piano Teacher. I can't say the final scene was etched onto my mind - I've completely forgotten the ending. But I thought it was fairly mild stuff, if a bit distasteful.
STRIKE !!!

House of Usher

(Please don't remind us of it here though. Spoilers, and everything. I'll just use my imagination based upon what I do rember of it.)

Yea, audition is a great flick, the torture bit is truly mind warping, have to say though mike takashi is a genius you should check out visitor q, btw any1 lookin for his new stuff fansubbed drop me a line

oh, yea michael haneke is a top class director, funny games is an excellent movie if only for the crazy soundtrack, although the 'interaction' with the audience scene has been done much better in both man bites dog & henry: portrait of a serial killer (has any1 seen part2 it looks awful) but check out the piano teacher altough i didnt rate last scene, there are some truly great bits, the skating rink bj, the porn shop, & my personal fave the drive in movie theater were the tear rolls down her face GENIUS!

"What next? Psycho - "

I do hope the irony of your last post hasn't escaped you.

An ex-pat Brit has started loaning me the New Statesman here and I`ve been reading Mark Kermode`s film reviews. He`s a ponce indeed. The man seems to have no idea that movies could be, you know,  fun to watch. He sees movies as exercises in self-improvement for the director, actors and audiences, as well as opportunities for him to write annoying reviews.
I would recommend rushing to see any movie he pans and treating the ones he likes with deep suspicion.

yours trying to be a ray of sunshine, but failing from time to time,

ps the Metropolis film reviews are good

"May", the American Indy horrow film that Mark Chapman always used to bang on about, has definate Audition like qualities, with a touch of Ghost World, Six Feet Under and Carrie as well.

House of Usher

Sorry about the spoiler, but can there really be anyone reading this list who hasn't seen Psycho, or who doesn't know all the major plot elements even if they haven't seen it?

...Got another one for you. There's a scene where a woman is stabbed to death in the shower. Please don't tell anyone now, in case they didn't already know!

Sorry if my reply came across as a bit agressive, jont (I thought I'd get my apologies in early). No, the irony of that post isn't wasted on me at all, and thanks for pointing it out. I thought Psycho would be quite a safe example, and I'm still fairly confident about that (more apologies, then, to anyone who hasn't seen Psycho or been told the entire plot before).

Mr D

Have you seen 50 First Dates?
Rather good gag about them having to watch The Sixth Sense EVERY DAY. But..

They give away that Brucey boy is a ghost!!! Why would you do that??

House of Usher

...Because everybody has probably seen it by now?

If a film comes out and it's known to have a Big Mystery, if I'm at all interested in it I make a point of seeing it during its initial theatrical release. Otherwise, you're screwed.
STRIKE !!!

Mr D

Two of my mates hadn't. Cue much screaming at the screen.

House of Usher

Your mates are slow, Dribbles! Were they planning on saving Sixth Sense for like a really, really special occasion?
STRIKE !!!

Mr D

Hehe... No, they have a thing about Haley Joel Osmet or whatever the little bugger's name is. They can't stand him. But were intending to 'get round to it'

House of Usher

Slackers!

But good for them. I hate being told 'you must see this film'. Tell them not to bother with Unbreakable either.

Tell them not to bother with Unbreakable either

Why?

I love Unbreakable! The whole comic book/real life thing is brilliant, IMHO!
