Have I ever bagged the prog before?

Best line of the entire run of 'Origins':

Off Topic / Where's my cocking hash key?!?
23 April, 2007, 07:42:59 PM
Unbelievably, in all the time I've had my Mac, I've never needed to use the hash key.  I went to use it today- only to find that I don't have one.  Or if I do have one, I can't find it.

Finally, the question of which is better- Macs or PCs- is answered...

Off Topic / The Iron Fish
11 April, 2007, 04:59:41 PM
I was googling dolphin pics when I came up with this- anybody remember the Iron Fish?  I so wanted one of my own as a kid.

Of course, now that my brain is fully formed, the prospect of being inside a tiny fish shaped submarine scares me half to death...

Help! / MP3 downloads
11 February, 2007, 11:33:29 AM
Can anyone recommend a safe, reliable and legal site that they've actually used (apart from iTunes)?  I've found a few, but I'm too paranoid to hand over my credit card details...

Cheers.

At the risk of a slating, anyone who doesn't agree with the compulsory fitting of a tracking device in their car and a 'pay as you go' road tax system that will, frankly, only stop those on low incomes from driving- you can follow the link below to the official petition and sign up.

If you want to.

Seriously- if Mrs Jones wasn't so attached to her family, I'd be off like a shot.  We're governed by morons.

Help! / Printer issues

Long story short- mine's farked.  Any recommendations for a replacement?  Must be Mac compatable and I don't really need anything bigger than A4 (although that's not to say I wouldn't have one if the price was right).

Cheers.

Help! / Recording from Sky...
31 December, 2006, 10:34:19 AM
I've got a friend in Oz who is desperate to see 'This Life +10' on Jan 2nd.  Now I can record it to my Sky+ box, but does anyone know how I can get it from there to my Mac, where I can (hopefully) burn it to dvd?

Failing that, can anyone who owns a dvd recorder do the deed straight from the TV for me?  Needless to say, I can Paypal any expenses immediately and I won't be mean to you on the board for several weeks at the very least.

Cheers in advance for the flood of offers I'm sure to get...

Off Topic / General whine- feel free to ignore...

So I've noticed recently that my NTL Broadband connection doesn't seem to be as fast as it once was- nothing major- just pages taking longer to load, a few more 'lost network connection' messages than is usual.

It got me thinking about how reliable my old dial-up connection with NTL used to be- until broadband arrived and it started acting up.  I never understood that- I mean more and more people were signing up for broadband, which meant fewer and fewer people were using the dial-up system and yet, for some reason,  dial-up became more unstable than ever and would disconnect at the drop of a hat.

A suspicious and deeply paranoid mind might blame a deliberate sabotaging of dial-up to get everyone to switch to broadband and rake in more cash.  An equally suspicious and deeply paranoid mind might also make the same connection between his recently slowed broadband connection and the flyer that arrived with his bill that proclaims:

'Unlimited 4MB now available!  Only ?7 extra per month!'

In other news, the idle fucks that have taken two months to finally agree a day to come and correct a job that they've already been paid for have rung and cancelled because the c*nting football is on.

I've just logged in, after being revived, only to find that all by gear is missing (and I had a LOT of gear).  Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm a bit fucked off, to be honest...

Film & TV / The DaVinci Code
22 May, 2006, 01:51:26 AM
Me and Mrs Jones went to see this with two other couples last night (no, it wasn't our turn to choose).  I don't think I was supposed to laugh out loud at parts of it- but I did anyway.

It was complete mince from start to finish, with the 'twists and turns' being spotted from miles away.  I was eventually 'shushed' after declaring the film to be "fucking stupid" (while wiping the tears of laughter away from my eyes) and finding myself unable to get the phrase "you stole my gibberish*" out of my head for most of the two and a half hours that I was forced to sit there.

In its defence, I guess it's alright for what it is- but I doubt anyone rational would sit through it twice.

Oh- and Si Spurrier was in it too...

;)

Film & TV / Old skool Doctor Who
08 May, 2006, 03:52:32 PM
So there I am, enjoying my Pertwee run every weekend on Uk Gold.  He finally regenerates into Tom Baker at the end of an episode and I think I'm in for a real treat over the next couple of months as they repeat all of his adventures.  Turn on the TV the next week- WTF?!?

Colin.  Colin sodding Baker.  What's that all about?  Do they never show the Tom Baker years on UK Gold or what?  Come to think of it, I've never seen any Patrick Troughton or William Hartnell either- just a merry-go-round of Pertwee, Davison, inferior Baker and Manky McCoy...

Curse you, UKTV Gold!
