I've always found that "bigger than Bowie!" line somewhat suspicious.  I mean, did Bowie even do any signings at that store?

And now that I know it came from arch-bullshitter Igor Goldkind....

The grandly-titled Dan Dare Corporation don't even do anything with the Dan Dare rights - it's basically a retired film producer sitting on them on the ever-diminishing chance they might be worth something one day - so the chances of them doing anything with Doomlord seem negligible.

Still sticking with the 'four different fonts choices for five lines of text' thing, though.

This is local parish newsletter level stuff, not something you'd associate with a too visual arts professional.

I think Bisley only did 2 episodes

And took about 4 years to do them.

Impressive stuff.

short lived? so he stopped? (i kinda stopped following his twitter it got depressing)

They've apparently been quietly removed from sale. I've been told by someone who kept watch that  he didn't sell a single one.

So that was well worth trashing your reputation for, and needlessly picking a huge fight with your own fanbase over.

Any chance the new book will give us the lowdown on his short-lived foray into the fascinating world of NFT chump-scamming?

I just hope it's good!

QuoteSlightly less unlikely, it could have taken place after the assassination run, with Dredd getting out of Med Bay, putting on a clean uniform, linking up with the cadets, and then changing back into his ragged bullet-holed gear before winning the war.
I'm not sure a jury would buy it either way.

Presumably Dredd also travels years into the future first, to bring back the next-gen Lawgivers he and the cadets are using in Citadel.

S3 Westworld:  complex and intriguing issues set up in SI & 2 about the nature of sentience, consciousness, the moral duties of the creator to its creations and what exactly 'human' means are settled by having two robot chicks batter the shit out of each other.

QuoteI'll confess I haven't bothered with S4.

Neither did anyone else, hence the cancellation.

The picture at the bottom of the cover looks like some kind of random placeholder.

I think some kind of unfunny 'creator as a kid, as an adult, as a collection of fossils' comment is being made.

But, really, fuck knows. That cover design's all over the place.

You can definitely see why someone who's famous for his masterful comic cover illustrations would instead go with a shockingly-designed photograph thing that looks like a parody of a vanity published book that on-one would ever want to read.

Important to note the dates given above for Newcastle and Edinburgh are WRONG.  The real itinerary:

Tuesday 2 August: Forbidden Planet Birmingham, 4.30pm
Wednesday 3 August: Forbidden Planet London, 4.30pm
Friday 5 August: Forbidden Planet Newcastle, 4.30pm
Saturday 6 August: Forbidden Planet International Edinburgh, 4.30pm

Finlay-Day signing,

Hmmmmm?

It's on Saturday 6th, not Fri 5th.

Wouldn't you be better plugging this on the thread about the signing tour, rather than one about a weeks-old comic con that no-one here actually went to?

QuoteAs to the veracity of Private Eye. Maybe I'm wrong but I can't imagine the magazine risking a lawsuit on mere gossip.

The briefest familiarity with the history of PI very much says otherwise.

It's also entirely unsubstantiated - When did this happen?  Who was the unnamed MP who witnessed it? What's the source of this story? - hence why it's so far one scurrilous paragraph in a Private Eye story, rather than national news.

Not running an unproven story that's completely libellous if untrue isn't censorship.
