How else would you kick this off?! Lovely lovely stuff. 'dottage' :)
Say this about Pete Wells: he's found his level and he's damned well sticking to it. Magnificent as ever Pete, a late night treat to usher in my favourite event of the year.
And we're off!
A moving tribute, Pete.
1st Decemeber and once again all is right with the world thanks to Mr Wells.
Thanks Pete
Lovely homage, although goes a bit too northern at the end...
A perfect beginning, cheers Pete! Long live the king!
That's lovely, Pete
Nice one Pete. Funny, but poignant and heartfelt. Love it.
Great work Pete! Nice selection of images and moments to show off Carlos' Legacy.
A great tribute to the great man. Nice one Pete.
I loathe Christmas decoration in November (makes me disproportionately angry) but the advent calendar is when I start feeling Chritmassy.
Pete sets the tone beautifully as always (is his singing voice getting better?), and PJ - chintastic!
Thanks for the Top Tens Eamonn, glad to hear a few I voted for in there. Another tribute to Carlos as well with the high placing of his work.
It's not often you get to say "better than the original" when the original is a Gibson, but PJ's Eyeless Dredd affords just such an opportunity.
Cor, I'll take that! (I don't deserve it, but I'll take it)
If anyone wants to suggest another dredd head for dreddcember in this thread I'll see if I can get round to it.

That was quite awesome work.
If you want to go straight to the top ten results without listening to a 12 minute podcast :'( you can find them in the top ten thread here:

Great stuff so far. Pete's got the Santa Claus singing voice down to a T, and has impressively managed to make the line about synthi-sausage scan perfectly.
Some of PJ's best work ever there too; love a bit of festive blood and eye-jelly, me.
Just listened to Eamonn's podcast while doing the dishes, lovely stuff (and nice to hear my, er, mild-mannered reporter friend Brian Walsh get a name-check).
Thanks for (overly) the kind words on my little Carlos tribute. I was worried that it might have come across as twee or insensitive, but I figured anyone who knows me would know how much Carlos meant to me and that silly song really was from the heart.
Moving on, good old Eamonn once again gives us a Christmas glow with his endless kindness and sheer, unbridled loveliness.
And then there's PJ, crashing into the forum like an artistic colossus! The colours on that second Dredd are outstanding! Cheers Peej! If you're up for suggestions Peej, I'd LOVE to see teeth smashed in Dredd from Origins or Deadman Dredd (with helmet on) from Necropolis!
The advent calendar continues to delight!
Lovely work all, here's to the King!
Wonderful start to this year's calendar! Terrific work all.
i;m kinda worrying i won't be able to do mines since both kazan and i are sick as hell atm
Great work from PJ.

Don't stress if you can't buddy. Real life is more important!
With some luck and a good wind behind me I might be able to break my 17th slot down into chunks and cover a couple of gaps if no one else can fill the slot...
Hmm. Someone has said my image isn't appearing, and that I have posted a blank message in the Advent thread.
I linked to it in BBcode from IMGR, and I can see it. Is anyone else not able to view it?

Thanks for checking!
They're just Cursed Earth mutant sheep is all. :D
Despite all the incredible work on the 2000AD sculpts, it's fluffy Shako I love the best. He's the only bear on Santa's naughty list!
I see that fine Shaolin Monkey and waht a treat it is.
Once again however special mention has to go to Eamonn who shows he is a prince amongst Squaxx dek Thargo.

Cool! Turns out a setting in Chrome was stopping her seeing it.
Glad Shako was a hit! It's great what you can do with a cheap Xmas decoration, a biro, and red paint! :D
I was going to get Satanus in there too, but it was starting to get a bit busy.
Just read the story from Abelardsnazz - nice one! Short, sweet, and given Dredd's ice cold character cracking over these last years, another good example of that!
I do like PJ's Mean 👍🏻 - there seems to be an age to him (old man mean)
It is indeed beginning to feel a lot like Christmas - this advent calendar is looking great!
Eamonn - the bookclub is always a highlight (and a regular part of my work week). Fun to see how my favorites stack up against others.
Steve - Snowpocalypse War is a pun worthy of Dredd! I wonder, does Walter the Snowbot have a support role...
Snazz - I enjoyed the short story, Christmas Dredd's are always a favorite of mine, that old softie.
PJ - Awesome entries! I especially like the gruesome City of the Damned Dredd... after all, red is a great Christmas colour.
As for requests, Anderson might be an obvious one, so maybe Sov judge Kazan or one of my new favorites, Heston?
Great work on the calendar. Nice poetry, Conrad
Good Grud, the Advent Calendar is magic isn't it? Well done to the Space Spinner Conrad, that poem had me laughing several times!
Thanks everyone - s'pecially PJ! Keep it up buddy!
Thanks everyone! Also great job today Colin, great to see a Flesh reference!
That C&H homage is just bloody brilliant!!!
Fantastic Calvin parody today - I recently came across my collection of books and reread them after a long time getting dusty and ending in a few laugh out loud moments but those last 3 windows look very familiar (& Funny).
Looking forward to the rest of the Advent. Keep up the good work everyone 👍🏻
Hah! Lovely poem and C&H homage.
So fetch!
Oh gosh just realised I didn't add an 'after Watterson' as I have in the past - these are essentially direct lifts from specific Calvin and Hobbes cartoons just 2000ad'd up.
All humour is almost entirely stolen!
Still very good & funny Colin - hope you have one lined up for next year👍🏻😄
Conrad - awesome poem! Lots of great references, and very long too - we appreciate the effort! There is no way Fox reads the whole thing, this is the text story of poems :D
Colin - Awesome strip! A Calvin/Flesh crossover was inevitable considering all those Dinosaur! Great work!
Colin, if you are going to swipe- swipe from the best! Cracking work and loving PJ's works as well. The Mean machine is my fave so far.

Haha yes! *bam bam bam* (air horn)
Wonderful start to the calendar with fantastic gifts so far, not least the generous prizes offered by Eamonn for cancer research - hope that does well.
Cracking little festive story from abelardsnazz, and I loved SpaceSpinner2000's poem - Dredd shouting out the various modes on his Lawgiver like Santa calls out to his reindeer is inspired!
A wonderfully bonkers dash of humour from shaolin_monkey and Steve Green do indeed help to make the season bright, as does Colin YNWA's adorable Carver & Reagen tale!
And of course, we're being truly spoiled by pauljholden's Dreddcember head portraits - fantastic skills, that man! Looking forward to seeing more...!
As a warmer for my submission on the 6th, here's something I did for the calendar but didn't think it was good enough in the end, so I'll share it here. See you in the morning...,! ;)

Round of applause for Andy Lambert, that's fantastic. Love Archangel Carlos,
and wondering how Mills would react to being cast as the Blessed Virgin! Great to see new characters like Kurtis and Ritterstahl in the lineup too.
Just caught up with this - what an amazing lot of submissions we have! Love the Calvin and Hobbes take off but Andy's nativity really came out amazingly well.
I must complement everyone for all the great contributions.
One thing, I thought each day was for the named contributor only. PJ's art is brilliant but could he hold back until the free for all day rather than going on top of other people's days.

Pete might correct me, but I don't recall there ever being a stipulation that
only the named contributor can post — people's plans change and there's always been a certain amount of people posting when they get the time. I'm hoping to get something in this year, but my schedule is so chaotic just now I can't commit to a day.
I've been enjoying everyone's contributions this year, and props should be given to PJ for his fantastic daily efforts. The more the merrier I day!
Andy, I enjoyed the one you posted in this thread too! Imagine waking up Christmas morning to that..
The calendar continues to be a treat. I'm going to print Colin's offering and put it on the fridge. A*.

Well, I understood the day thing to be a commitment to ensure there's something fun per day- then people tend to pile in with whatever fun thing they've done - but that might have been me conflating previous advent calendars.
If some admin wants to go in a delete my pics from the thread (please!), I'll create a Dreddcember thread and just post them all in there. Can't guarantee I'll get through the whole month (it's one of the reasons I don't do something in the advent) but I'll do it for as long as I can find the time.
-pj
I don't think there's any problem - the schedule is just to make sure that someone's going to do something and we don't have any empty days - there are often several submissions per day and I'm delighted to have a daily does of PJ with whatever else comes up.
Truly arsom stuff. Love the Calvin and Hobbes thingy and 'SQUELF' - also is that the Blessed Virgin Mills at the front of the Nativity scene?
I'm ok with PJ posting every day; there was another contributor years back who did the same with a serial he made himself.
Very much appreciate the thought but I felt initially like I might be treading on toes and then just, like a bull in china shop, continued anyway) so I'll stick to a new thread, besides if it goes according to plan I'll be putting these up past Christmas anyway.

Really enjoying Pj's contributions. Wherever they appear, it's a pleasure to see them.
Delighted with the reaction my picture has had on Facebook, even got shared by Wagner himself! Cheers, guys!
As for posting stuff on someone else's marked down day - I posted plenty of extra stuff in the past without anyone feeling put out (as far as I know!). As mentioned before, I think it's just a way to make sure every day on the calendar has a contribution from someone. Still, I'll certainly be checking out pauljholden's Dreddcember thread..! 🤩
ABC Warriors Vs Krampus - epic!
There is no reason why PJ shouldn't post here as well as his Dreddcember thread. We've had whole serials running through the advent before now with nary a Grinchy comment.
Comes to something when an honest to Grud droid feels he shouldn't be posting on a thread on this board.

At least tell me that you are working on the next chapter of Hunted :D
Nice one Bagley - loving the crayon art! Great concept too!
PJ must do what PJ must do BUT please folks all pile in on a given day if you have something. Its ever been so.
Sometimes folks miss slots for all sorts of good reasons and if we have wonderful folks like PJ able to produce wonders at such a rate it means we've always got not just a back up, but another treat. I remember so fondly the year Andy Lambert seem to be popping treats out at an indecent rate. It was such a joy. There have been others.
Think of it this way. You open ya advent calendar on a given day and you get one lovely choccie. Yum, nice one. Now imagine opening the same window and getting 4 choccies, each as lovely and velvetly scrummy as the last. Four times yummy - I love 4 times yummy.
Now imagine cos we've scared off our multiple choccie providing champions of milky delight and some poor bugger misses their slot for whatever good reason. Imagine that. JUST IMAGINE. Not only not 4 x yummy. Not even yummy BUT no chocolate goodness. No Yummy.
DO YOU WANT NO YUMMY - WELL DO YOU.
Please PJ and anyone else who wants to chip in do so, or I'll stretch this metaphor even further past breaking point.
Gail Nedry, I don't see yours! Just two small boxes and the word 'YUMMY!'. Or were you leaving us a couple of white chocolates? If so, scronch, scronch. Yes they were!
So far, good stuff, all round. I need to knuckle down and work on mine, before I leave it too late....
That's great Bagley! I like the colouring and the elf guns look awesome. The elves are indeed little jobs...but Santa, big jobs!
Sorry Gail, I can't see yours either. If it was chocolates you left behind, I didnt get any - Mardroid ate them all!
I've done Xmas Jiggery, and indeed pokery, and hopefully people can now see Gail's two images.
As long as the Gods of the Forum are okay with anyone posting any time then I am also okay.
It's not like it's hardship to look at MORE awesome art over the next couple of weeks.

And fecking amazing they are too. Obviously a bit of Ewins there, but also more than a touch of McMahon at his best. (And it's interesting to know that Kano, er, dresses to the left.)
Loving the ABCs and Krampus mashup too. Anything with the ABCs or the Krampus is ok by me.
Yeah, definitely got a hint of McMahon in Gail's cracking artwork - both of them are fantastic drawings! Nice one, Gail! 😍
We can see them now, amazing work Gail! I hope you are entering the Rogue Trooper art comp.
Forgive my silly humour Gail. Like all good presents, those were worth the wait!
Thank you Andy Lambert, shaolin_monkey, Rogue Judge, and JayzusB.Christ for your kind words.
I've enjoyed every calendar submission so far. So much talent here!
Time permitting, I'm hoping to belt out another illustration for the Christmas Eve free-for-all.
Oh, and regarding free image hosting, it may be worth mentioning I was unable to get my illustration to appear using imgur. I ended up using tinypic without any problems. Hope this helps.
Survival Geeks! I love Survival Geeks...! Nice one, Cosier..! :D
Ahhh, this is what I come here for! Great images from Gail, kolourful Khaos from Bagley and I just love those festive Geeks from Cosier! One of my great joys is seeing newer (as in post-'90) characters appearing in these celebrations. Reassures that the prog and its fandom is a living thing, and not a museum of nostalgia for Bolland Dredd.
Hey Gail! Cracking Tharg there and lovely use of colour too.
I'm frantically trying to get a Daily ready for the advent but I think it will defeat me this year...
You can do it Bolt!
(But no pressure if you can't).

It's always a pleasure to see the 2K forum advent unfold - some fantastic efforts so far!
Man oh man there's been some glorious stuff on the calendar this year but once again there is one Ming to rule it all!
Snow hee-hee!
LUGJACK!
Fantastic Lego creations by Ming. And great work by Supersurfer. Beautiful stuff.
It always brings joy to my heart when Supersurfer pops up. Fantastic stuff as ever sir.
The Ace Trucking Co. snowmen are adorable, and it's wonderful to see the Dictators of Zrag again...! Great stuff! :D
Lovely, can't help but think of Bradbury when I see the dictators!
Thanks to Eamon Clarke for fixing my IMG links.
I used imgur to host. I'll try tinypic for the next one on Thursday.
Loving the Tharg one from today (SuperSurfer).
Not a Scooby who the pointy headed guys are but lovely comical stuff.
Super stuff from Andy Lambert today, with a nod to Mr MacMahon.
Also love the dictators, very in the spirit of Bradbury.
Bloody hell, both Supersurfer and Andy, pure genius!
I don't normally comment in these threads but just wanted to say how much I'm loving this year's advent calendar.
Bloody amazing stuff there - just wish I was clever enough to be able to contribute.
So much great art!
Cosier - Great work!
Ming - Your Lego looks awesome as always, and it was great to see your work featured in the bumper Christmas prog AGAIN! Congrats!
Super Super - Santa Tharg looks great and his minions creepy! I see a hint of Carlos' style in your work too, I like it!
Andy - As always, you never dissapoint, great art and humor! Each elf looks unique and Dredd's expression is perfect.
Gail - another cracking entry to the advent calendar! Great choice of characters, gotta love SD!
Hey, are there any days after 15th December that haven't been allocated a contribution yet?
I might have something to donate to the advent calendar after all, but can't say any more until after 15th December.
Chip in when you like. Or wait to see if someone has to skip a day for whatever reason OR wait for Chrimbo eve when there's a free for all... basically whatever you want!
Today is my turn so I tried something different. :)

Brilliant. More authentic (and sexy) than either movie version.
The draw for the raffle is done and up on youtube.
https://youtu.be/zPJnMt3qqRo
The lucky winners are:
1st - Steven Bull, who wins the signed Dredd sketchbook
2nd - Dave Wynn, who wins the signed hardback of Case Files 1
3rd - Squitten, who wins the signed Prog 202
4th - Stewart Lafferty, who wins the signed copy of 2000AD's greatest hits
I've sent them all emails so hopefully will be able to get their prizes to them soon.
We raised £466 for cancer research UK which brings the grand total raised by the 2000AD community over the last 5 years to a whopping £8002.26 :o
That knitted Dredd is uniform is a thing of wonder!
And as ever Eamonn is a true gent and an absolutely astonishing generous soul.
Great work on the raffle.
Incredible work Eamonn, I had fully intended to throw some dosh at the raffle (for not-100%-altruistic purposes) and somehow forgot the auction date. I will make recompense before the day is out. You're one of the good'uns, sir.
As for Colin, you've had me chuckling at your modded Calvin & Hobbes strips for years now, but this latest one is on a whole new level! Quite the talent with the pencil there, young man.
Just catching up with everything this week.
First up, thanks for the raffle Eammon! 'Twas a ray of light in a bit of a difficult week.
Loving all the entries in my catch up. The Survival Geeks really made me laugh, particularly wossisface in his Ys.
Always good to see some great Tharg art at Xmas, and we have a few good ones this year!
C&H pastiches always make me laugh, especially 2000AD related ones.
Good work everyone!!!
That was a great little short Mardriod and I could easily see that in a Xmas Meg/prog.
As ever since I joined this board the quality of the advent each year has been brilliant - almost wishing for next year already 😳
Thanks Trooper. I was worried the character might be a bit too reminiscent of the Robo Santa character from Futurama, although that one is a total psycho. And spotting the cover of the recent Meg made me wince a bit, [spoiler]except that one is a perp, and the Santa in the actual story isn't actually a robot...[/spoiler]
Glad you liked it.
hopefully i'll get kazs thoughts on dante in podcast form at some point sorry again for the repeat
Well, Flippo's entry today (23rd Dec) wins the top prize for most awesome picture ever!!! I LOVE it!!!
Well, at least now we know why you are on Dredd's naughty list on the front of the Christmas prog.
Another great year for the Advent Calendar. Well done all!
Truly amazing stuff. Loving nudey Pete and that Hershey is outstanding. Well done all, and Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas - great work all!
