Floyd why have you deserted us?

I'm willing on Ashley Beeching so that you are knocked out of the top ten and into the letters wilderness!

Once Matron gives me back the green ink pot, you'll be sorry young whippersnapper!

Yes Tom, we're all very scared. Keep taking the pills!

Back to the subject of recently published letter writer (zing!).

The Meg and Prog this week saw letters in each and a letter in each for Kevin Barry.

Alan 'Hollo' Holloway also broke into a share of fifth place with his 29th missive - will the berth be all his sometime soon?

Overall leader Stephen Watson extended his lead to a mighty 9 with his 90th published piece of correspondence. Can the 'impossible 100' be now possible? Well his pacemaker has a 5 year battery so who knows?

Oh, we noticed alright.

I'm still trying to figure out the "Beast Code".
So many unanswered questions, such as Stephen 'X-Rated' Watson's connection to Matthew 'Mr. Money Bags' Crossman.

Now can't get the image of postie Huff proffering a heroclix in outstretched hand to a bearded hooded Floyd as the camera spins around them...

Buttonman

Beast codes are assigned randomly so enable easy sorting - lots of common names out there like Proudfoot so all verified letters from the same writer are tagged with the appropriate code so their efforts can be pulled up at short notice. £ and ! were only added once the alphabet was exhausted.

Floyd better get a move on as 100 letters is the beginning of the age of Aquarius when the Beast is put out to pasture and I can ruminate over a life well spent.

How about Hastings versus Eastbourne?

SBT

A clash of the Titans indeed :

STEEV THULIN-HOPPER    HASTINGS   M230
MARCUS TROMMEL                 HASTINGS   415
SHANE JOY                 HASTINGS   451
STEEV THULIN-HOPPER    HASTINGS   1426
PETE THOMSON                 HASTINGS   M260
PETE THOMSON                 HASTINGS   M297
STEEV THULIN-HOPPER    HASTINGS   1704
C ADAM                              HASTINGS   1733
PETE THOMSON                 HASTINGS   2013

KEITH VENESS     EASTBOURNE    173
JAMES WAITE     EASTBOURNE    M80/V2.60
CAROLINE HARRIS     EASTBOURNE    503
PAUL JOHNSON     EASTBOURNE    1115
STEVE ANDERSON     EASTBOURNE    137   PROFILE
JEREMY WEPENER     EASTBOURNE    191   ROBOT
RICHARD CHADWICK EASTBOURNE    219   ALIEN
MARK BARTON     EASTBOURNE    222   LONG RANGE CRUISER
J SHARDLOW     EASTBOURNE    237   RUBIK'S THARG

Hastings Population = 86,900 / 9 Beast entries = 1 per 9,656 inhabitants
Eastbourne Population = 99,300 / 9 Beast entries = 1 per 11,033 inhabitants.

The winner in The Beast's Battle of the Towns Round 2 is declared as ...Hastings. Interestingly they got one in the current Prog 2013 but they would still have won with 8, albeit with a lower margin of 1 per 10,863 inhabitants.

Wow - I am the "J Shardlow of Eastbourne" that drew that Rubik's Tharg - unfortunately I no longer have the Prog. Can you post a scan of that picture ? It would be amazing to see it again after so many decades!
