Post by: Peter Wolf on 17 December, 2007, 05:56:00 PM

Does anyone know of a way to retrieve a lost password for a Mac that doesnt involve reinstalling the software ?

Many Many thanks in advance to anyone that can solve this problem.

Peter you don't have to reinstall the software. You just need to boot the computer from the CD.

Thanks. Its not even a problem if i do have to re install but i will try your suggestion first if its easier.Luckily i have no encrypted folders.

I dont usually forget passwords and i have not upgraded the software since i plugged it in from new and also i want to get the mac email up and running.

I might add how this is done:

Put the original install disc in the drive, and hold down the "c" key while booting up.  Works a treat.
