Crap, I hit enter too early!

Steve,

Thanks for the link - I don't even know what some of these guys are talking about... I can see that I've still got a lot to learn about modelling!

> does Cinema4D have a smooth feature where you can work on a lower polygon mesh, and then subdivide it so it is smoother.

I'm sure that the more recent versions have a mesh snoother, but I can't find anything like that in version 6! I've been using it on and off for a couple of years now, but it's only in the past month that I've been spending serious time on it.

3DS Max looks the business, but it's way out of my price league!

Cheers,
Mike

Ah, there's always stuff to learn.

Looking around, it might be called HyperNURBS in C4D if it's there at all.

Yeah, Max is expensive - although if you're doing lots of paid work with it, then it pays for itself soon enough.

That said, Softimage XSI have a good range of packages from the Foundation version for a few hundred quid upward.

Cheers,

Steve

In light of Steve's infuriatingly good Ro-Jaws model, I decided to give mine elbows, and a slightly more reflective texture...

The latest...

(Must put Ro-Jaws, Water and Hoagy together in some sort of amusing scenario.)

> Haven't you got books to write..?

I've already written them.

ThrillSuckers:)

Can you draw Tharg himself.

TordelBack

Looking at Mike's models of Walter and Ro-Jaws, you have to be struck by how plausible the design of both robots seems.  Wouldn't be at all surprised to find a Walter-alike dispensing coffee at a service station forecourt before my days are up.   McWild's animation of RoJaws also has a disturbingly realistic Segway vibe to his motion.

ThryllSeekyr asks:

Yes, I can! (Though it's pretty easy: the head is just modified from a Poser figure).

I've already written them.

But I demand MORE!!

Seriously though- these models are great!

Isn't that just T'ealc (or however you spell it) after a bad curry?
