What other catchphrases are there?

Ooh, my heartsies

The sssentence isss death...

The most obvious ones that spring to my mind haven't yet been mentioned in this thread:

I Am The Law! - It has probably been a long time since Dredd last said that
Be Pure, Be Vigilant, Behave! - This is my favourite

The main thing that bothers me about this forum is the constant Mills-bashing that goes on here, and this thread is another example of it.

Charley's War. I have been reading this digitally (am now on the third and final volume) and it has been consistently great.

SD is of course brilliant too but CW is set in the real world and has comedy, tragedy, violence, politics, and genuine historic points that are not taken about so much (e.g. the allied mutiney, field punishment number 1).

The whole thing is such a remarkable achievement by Pat & Joe.

I really enjoyed the floppy too. I had always assumed that the artists just came up with the cover ideas themselves rather than working to a sketched requirement.

I'm curious about this TV show, but in general am very ambivalent about people adapting old comics to the screen.

This is me too, and is the reason why I have yet to see the Dredd film. I am a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories and learnt long ago that adaptions are not really for me as, fine as they often are, I tend to see where the adaptions have skipped bits, cadged bits from other stories, etc.

The stories in their original form are enough for me, but its great if people who haven't read the source enjoy an adaption and may even go back to the original source (for Dredd, Holmes, Sandman, etc) and keep it alive for future generations.

Thanks Conrad, most informative about baths.

So, other formumites, are we over the worst of the 90's once 1993 is over? Things do seem to be getting better now but I think the next Button Man plus Nikolai Dante and Sinister Dexter are still a long way off, and so is The Pit.

I was sad to see Sam Slade as bottom thrill for both Conrad and Fox since it was my second top thrill for this weeks batch of progs. Robo Hunter is what got me into 2000AD initially so I was pretty happy to see it return to the spirit of the Ian Gibson era.

Seems quite a way after Scream! folded to dig the story out of the slush pile though.
Scream folded into Eagle which went on until 1994, so it may have been done for Eagle.

I had a vague feeling that we at home thought Inferno was just a bit silly, but that plenty of readers liked it, only to find that in the last 20 years it has become perhaps THE most despised Mega Epic.

From catching up with all the stuff I missed through getting the Case Files, Inferno and Crusade were the least enjoyable epics. I would now add that one from recently with the 4 horseman of the apocolypse to that list too.

I am fully digital but I have to say the 2000AD app is not very good. It should be an embarassment for Rebellion who are after all an IT company to some extent.

The main problem is that it does not seem to store any of the images it uses locally, it downloads them all fresh each time and makes you wait while it does this. It can take several minutes to access purchased content and so it is far better to use a separate dedicated comic book reader instead.

Great to have it back. During the fallow period, I went back and started from the beginning and produced the following list of highlight quotes from the 1977 shows.

Episode 1 (progs 1 - 5)
Fox and Conrad enjoy the childish action nature of the launch strips, free gifts and the concept of 2000AD being robot produced and edited by an alien.
"So fucking awesome" - Fox's first ever expressed opinion on any 2000ad story (Invasion)
"She's the strongest female character in 2000AD" - Conrad on Old One Eye
"Dan Dare is the most boring character ever created" - Fox

"If we end up at prog 500...or even 100" - Conrad pondering how far the podcast will go
"Oi loik dinosaurs but I would loik them to fight cowboys!"  - Conrad speculating on the market research opinions expressed by 1970's British youth

Singing: Conrad sings Anthrax's "I Am The Law"

Episode 2 (progs 6 - 10)
Conrad highlights a letter that complains about how bad sci-fi films are and Tharg replies that readers should look out for the new film coming out in 1977 called 'StarWars' which might change the reader's mind.
"You are reminded constantly that his wife and son are dead and he is just going to destroy everything" - Fox on Invasion
"This kid's a prick" - Conrad's assessment of the first child to die in the pages of 2000AD (Flesh)
"It's 1977. man - you've just got to assume the USSR is going to be there forever" - Conrad  (Harlem Heroes)
"This wasn't the worst this week but it was also definately the worst" - Fox (Dan Dare)
"As soon as he started saying his own name - Call Me Kenneth - I got really happy" - Fox (Judge Dredd)

Episode 3 (progs 11 - 14)

2000ad recurring themes
- Biker gang (Invasion)
.
Episode 7 (progs 24 - 27)

I spoke to soon. The Mestizo pdf is 12MB and the first 10 pages or so are fine but later pages have white lines through them and the text could be more readable. I will try the cbr version for any pdfs that look bad.

This is a great bundle - especially for the Charley's War and Lawless volumes. I only found out about this deal because of this thread so thanks for the notice. I have downloaded them all as pdf and the ones I have looked at (the smaller ones mainly) look okay to me.
