Anyone else watch it? I'd recommend you do, if you didn't - it's got all the brilliantly macabre and weird bits of The League of Gentlemen with a quite creepily compelling story to boot.
Nobody warned me I would be so awesome.

Dandontdare

very good. Love Mr Jelly (NOT Jolly!)

Mardroid

I loved it. I hit the red button when they said to watch the next episode... but then I backed out. Nice to pace myself, I can catch it next week.

Me too! I'm starting to hate this trend of next week's show now, last week's show all week, extra channels showing the same channel an hour ago, and whole series over in a fortnight cos it's on every fecking night!. Whatever happened to a programme you liked being on once a week, at the same time, for ages?

"Going futise" seemed implausible when I was a child, but I'm starting to get it....  :x

Dark Jimbo

Good stuff, and I'm really intrigued as to where it might be going.

Also - no laughter track! Huzzah!

I agree.  I don't mind laughter tracks with certain kinds of comedy but it would be inappropriate here.

TordelBack

Thoroughly enjoyed it.  When David was being quizzed on Jack the Ripper I felt secretly guilty that I knew the answers from my frequent From Hell re-reads...  Good turn by Dawn French, and it's always good to see [spoiler:1diq0xkw]dwarf porn[/spoiler:1diq0xkw] on the BBC.  Very promising stuff - could there be something I actually want to watch on telly again?

Richmond Clements

It was quite brilliant.
I'm a massive LoG fan, and I didn't think they could come up with something darker than that, but boy was I wrong.
David's 'relationship' with his mother was profoundly disturbing, the bit where she [spoiler:1m915735]fixed the front of his trousers[/spoiler:1m915735]was almost too creepy to watch.

Keef Monkey

Missed this, but really glad to read the positivity about it. When I saw it advertised part of me thought it would be a lame attempt to re-capture LOG and I really didn't think it would be anything special. Will try and catch a repeat.

This was my thought exactly and I tuned in with some trepidation which was only compounded when the very opening gag fell completely flat. Thankfully though, it didn't hit a duff note from that point on. Surreal, dark and very creepy. Marvelous stuff.

I think Mr Jelly could well go on to be regarded as Reece Shearsmiths finest hour, eclipsing even Papa himself. As long as they keep it up.

[spoiler:3e3onwpg]Chasing little kiddies around with his stump! "AAAAAAAH!" Is it wrong that I found that very funny?[/spoiler:3e3onwpg]

That's the thing about this kind of comedy. It's twisted stuff and I feel a bit guilty for finding it funny, but love it just the same.

I thought that bit was absolutely hilarious.

Absolutely loved it, so good to have them back (well, 2 of them anyway).

Personally I think Geoff Tipps was his crowning achievement, but yeah, let's see wait and see how low Mr Jelly sinks.

Finally caught up with the first two episodes over the weekend. I'm a massive League Of Gentleman fan so I was naturally a bit nervous when episode one started - but it was absolutely fantastic stuff. I wonder if any of it was intended for TLOG - it felt very much like where that show was heading in Series 3, with the interweaving of disparate characters. I have a feeling Mr. Jelly will soon be  as big an icon as Papa Lazarou... The amount of rage Reece Shearsmith unleashes onscreen is really quite disturbing.

But then, isn't that the appeal of TLOG and Psychoville? You can't bear to watch, but you can't take your eyes off the screen. And you feel a bit guilty for laughing, but you can't help yourself. Psychological discomfort has never been so much fun!
