Classifieds / Zzap! 64
04 March, 2018, 01:22:53 PM
I was into both when I was younger, so I hope someone else was too :)

Now the collecting is all done for 2000AD, I fancied building up my collection of Zzap! 64 magazines. Be nice to read em again, honestly. If you have any (especially if you have the binders they came in) get in touch.

Events / Pat Mills to speak at Marxism 2017
22 June, 2017, 03:36:54 PM
https://www.facebook.com/events/1936789236610100/?hc_location=ufi

The annual Marxism Festival will be joined this year by Pat Mills! A few months after I moved to the USA for good! Anyway, the meeting he's part of should be fantastic, and there'll be tons of other great meetings and cultural events over that weekend, around the recent election and so on.

Classifieds / Dice Man wanted?
29 November, 2016, 12:30:30 PM
Hello again, been a long time since I've  been on here - having finally completed the collection, I've been enjoying reading them. But as ever, the most important part of a collection is the part you don't have, and I read about the 5-issue "Dice Man" run.

The only one on eBay is issue 1, but if one of you lovely folks has all five and is willing to sell, I'm emigrating soon so my window for getting any more comics without having to pay insane international postage is rapidly closing. Hopefully one of you can help?

Classifieds / 1794 needed
03 March, 2016, 07:37:34 AM
It's been a rollercoaster ride (if rollercoasters were just you spending money and having a rapidly increasing number of boxes in your house) but thanks to IndigoPrime and blixab and eBay, I'm 1 comic away from an entirely complete collection.

1794!

If anyone has a copy they're willing to sell, please let me know.

Classifieds / Wanted: last few odds and ends
12 February, 2016, 04:24:59 PM
I only need a few to completely complete the collection, which is quite nice. Many thanks to the people on here who've already helped me get this close, and if anyone has all these and wants to sell the lot, that would be ideal. I'll do bits and bobs, of course. The finishing line is so close.

2000AD - 9, 10, 1794

Sci Fi Specials - 1978, 1980

Summer Special - 1977

I think that's it, anyway.

Games / PS4 info
21 July, 2015, 06:26:02 AM
I just bought a PS4 (Famous_Mortimer, but I don't really play the FPS combat-y games) and had a question which Google doesn't seem willing to answer. Perhaps I'm searching for the wrong things.

Anyway, I bought the new version of Saints Row 4, and it came with a few download codes for the addons. I panicked, thinking there's no way those codes would be valid after the original buyer used them, but they worked. So, did I just get a really incurious buyer or do the codes work multiple times?

Also, are there any games that I shouldn't buy second-hand, due to these sort of issues?

Classifieds / Extreme wanted
01 July, 2015, 07:44:24 AM
While I do want the entire 90s soft-rock band for my very own, this is about the comic.

For some reason, they're obscenely expensive on eBay. As my mission to be completely complete is nearing its end, the only major hole in the collection is the Extremes - I've got maybe 10 of them. So, if you have a bunch and want to sell them for a price slightly less than a first class plane ticket to the USA, let me know.

Help! / Microsoft Access Help
30 June, 2015, 08:05:58 PM
Because I'm bloody stumped everywhere else.

Access 2010

I've got a million rows of data (not quite), with loads of columns too. I can't print all the columns in a row  - too many - so I wanted to design a view where I can see all the data from one row of the document, spread over several rows of the display. Does this make sense?

Access's "Form View" just gives me a blank grid with no apparent way of designing things. I've gone to "Create / More Forms / Split Table" is pretty good, but it's not really what I want. Although that's closest, for any Access wizards who are able to help out.

Please help, because I feel stupid.

Games / Mellow games
27 June, 2015, 10:09:57 PM
Having just failed a few times at a pain-in-the-ass FPS mission, I begin to appreciate the joy of a nice mellow game, one where you can just explore a bit, or it's fun puzzles, or there's nothing much to worry about.

Oddly, I hear good things about "Euro Truck Simulator 2" in this regard, and I have it as part of a HumbleBundle from ages ago, but can anyone recommend a good mellow game? Perhaps one of the "Civilization" or "Sim City" games on the easiest setting?

Classifieds / Tape question
27 June, 2015, 06:08:56 PM
Hello all! This is sort of a classified question, I suppose.

I'm about 100 progs from completing my collection (mostly the early ones, obviously) and have started bagging and boarding. But, the top bit of all the bags is flapping about and it annoys my keen sense of order.

So, and I know this is sort of a dumb question, is there a good tape to buy? Not too strong, obviously, as it'll rip the bags, and one of those dispensers would be nice cos then I could tear off the right amount every time without using my teeth.

Off Topic / Marriage equality

It's enough to bring a tear to your eye. In recent memory, people have died just for their sexuality, and now everyone can get married. Ain't it lovely? And with Ireland recently too...

I don't know. Not much of a thread. I'm just happy as hell.

Film & TV / Dark Matter
24 June, 2015, 03:53:01 PM
Anyone else enjoying this Canadian sci-fi effort? Two episodes in and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes.

By the way, don't click on this spoiler because it totally gives away the twist at the end of the episode, but has anyone who watched got a bit of a
Blakes Seven
vibe off it? I think it could really be interesting, and provided it doesn't make the same mistake as Continuum, which had a heroine who fought on the side of the bad guys for two entire seasons, this could be something decent.

Anyway, give it a go I say.

Classifieds / 2012 and 2013
23 May, 2015, 02:49:47 PM
My collecting is almost done. I'm honestly getting a bit tired of it, of having boxes and boxes of swaps all round my house. So no more buying monster collections for the small number I actually want from them.

I should have paid more when a forum member put them on eBay earlier in the year, but it seems all I'm missing is 2012 and 2013's issues - prog 1768 to 1859, precisely. Are you, the person reading this, thinking about downsizing, and getting rid of those recent issues you have? Go on, you know you want to. It's such a burden, looking after those comics. Let me do it for you!

Seriously, though, if anyone is selling that little run, or if you see something similar on eBay, please let me know.

Games / Proudest gaming achievement
17 May, 2015, 07:17:58 PM
Have you ever wasted far too much time getting really really good at a game? Tell us about the daft things you've done here.

I just did the Ravenholm level of Half-Life 2 using just the gravity gun, which was surprisingly good fun, and which inspired this thread. I realised I knew where all the sawblades were after a while, which indicates I should probably play something else for a while.

Hello!

After a large purchase, I'm left with 6 boxes of 2000ADs. Most of them are the 700-1000 range, but there's a few in the 1400s and such.

If you want em (and live fairly close to me, in Chesterfield, I suppose) and want em, please come on over. I'd appreciate the space in my house, and you'd hopefully appreciate all the comics.

Let me know if you want em, and if you can swing by fairly quickly.

Books & Comics / The Yorkshire Pest

Early 90s. Kind of Viz-y (but with less comic strips, as I recall). One of the front pages said "Norman Wisdom in Oral Sex Shocker" - referring to how clever French people are at such sexual encounters.

Am I going mad? Or does anyone else remember this?

Classifieds / Boxes?
17 February, 2015, 08:53:53 AM
I took a load of storage boxes from work to store my growing collection in, but they're not tall enough, so the comics have to lay flat. I assume this isn't ideal, so I wonder if anyone could recommend a good make of box which would be the right size?

Games / Ignition OS (Raspberry Pi)
12 February, 2015, 02:15:22 PM
Anyone else getting this OS for their Pi? I did a Kickstarter for it so I'm getting the nice case and a controller as well, but it looks great and the idea of playing cool old games online against your friends seems like a nice idea.

Creative Common / Film Reviews
23 January, 2015, 07:37:50 AM
I hope this is the right place. Anyway, a few friends and I do a film review site. I enjoy writing, trying to puzzle out why a film is good or sucks (usually, why it sucks), and while we all do it for fun, might as well try and get a few eyeballs on our stuff.

CRISIS
2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 22, 25, 28, 32, 35, 38, 51

I know it's probably the least rare of the comic's run, but if anyone needs them and has multiples of anything before 250 or after 950 or so, give me a holler and let's do some trading. Or, if you want them all, make me an offer (and deal with a courier, because damn if I have to mess with Hermes again, I'm going to go on a rampage).
