Books & Comics / Supermom: Expecting Trouble
19 November, 2019, 08:23:37 PM
Please excuse me as I join Team Shameless Self Promotion. This is because we've entered the final week for pre-ordering my new comic Supermom: Expecting Trouble. It's a comedy about a superhero who is out to stop her archnemesis from taking over the world. There's just one problem: she's pregnant... and he's the father. Cue the world's strongest mother versus the world's evilest father fighting over the fate of the planet and their unborn child.

A PDF including 14 preview pages, full info on the comic, the true story behind the comic etc can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/57986rnlgk0itfz/Supermom_Preview_Pack.pdf/file

If you like what you see please consider pre-ordering Supermom as it's the only way to guarantee a copy and would help us out tremendously. Final cut-off is 25th November.

And if you know of anyone else who might be interested in the comic please pass on the details to them.

Superhero Voltra is on a mission to stop her archnemesis from taking over the planet. There's just one problem: she's pregnant... and he's the father. Cue the world's strongest mother fighting the world's evilest father over the fate of mankind and their unborn child. And in a world where superpowers are passed on through genetics the questions of "Who will the baby take after, the mother or the father?" takes on a whole new level of importance. Unfortunately for Voltra it looks like the baby might be taking after daddy...

Published by Action Lab, Supermom: Expecting Trouble is an action comedy mini-series written by me and brought to life on the page by an amazing art and lettering team (seriously, check out the preview). It hits the shelves in December but if you like the look of it please consider pre-ordering it the next time you're in your local comic shop. Only way to guarantee a copy. And if you'd also convince the store owner to order an additional 50 copies that would be great, thanks. :)

A PDF featuring a 14 page preview, full info, the true story behind the comic and more can be downloaded at: http://www.mediafire.com/file/57986rnlgk0itfz/Supermom_Preview_Pack.pdf/file

Preview pages and general info can be found at: www.gordymclean.co.uk

The Judge badges are really cool but what I'd love to see is an official Mean Machine dial for sale. It could come with a strap (prefareably see-though) so we can wear it with pride and start turning up that dial when people around us are pissing us off.

News / John Wagner Interview
19 July, 2012, 08:19:05 PM
At Glasgow Comic Con I got the chance to film an interview with the mighty legend himself John Wagner. He gave his thoughts on the Dredd film and some very revealing insights on what went into the creation process of Day of Chaos. The Button Man film and a few other things get discussed too.

The interview can be found here:

Help! / Comic Pricing
17 April, 2012, 03:51:16 PM
Does anyone know of a decent place online for pricing old and signed comics?

In particular I have a first printing of Batman: The Scottish Connection signed by Alan Grant and Frank Quietly on the week of release. Only reason I'm selling it is to fund production of my comic. Anyone got a rough idea of a fair price for it? I've looked online but can't find anything similar to compare with.

Welcome to the board / Better Late Than Never
28 March, 2012, 02:48:55 PM
Excuse my rudeness - joined a few weeks ago but didn't start one of these threads because... umm... my fingers temporarily revolted?

Anyway, I'm Gordy and I'm your typical rough and rugged Scotsman who spends more time drinking than working and will deep-fry anything that can't outrun me.

Been a huge comics fan all my life, starting with The Beano, Dandy etc, then onto Our Wullie and The Broons, then 2000AD and the Meg. Preacher was my gateway into the American side of the business. I stupidly cancelled my subscription to 2000AD when unemployment struck but now I'm back in the warm bosom of Thargy and co.

As well as a fan I'm trying to become a comics writer. I've self-published my debut No More Heroes and did a couple of shorts for upcoming anthologies. No-one's told me to piss off and leave the industry alone so I'm taking that as a win.

General / Hey hey hey hey! Hey Stookie!
21 March, 2012, 02:30:20 PM
I've been reading the post-Origins Dredd stories about him cleaning up the mutie camps and it made me think of the old stories featuring Stookies.

Then I remembered something about a storyline involving Dredd being injected with Stookie glands (probably without his knowledge of it) as a way of explaining how he's not as worn down and 'showing his age' as much as he should be.

Did this story actually happen? Or is it something I sort of half remember from a letters page, forum post or whatever?

No More Heroes is my recently-launched debut comic. Here's the teaser ad for it:

It's a four issue mini-series with a twisty turny plot and lots of dark humour. Even if you think the plot's a bit guff (it's not! Honest!) I can safely bet you'll like Caio's artwork (I might have to chain him down to make sure he finishes the issues before a publisher nabs him).

You can read the first ten pages for free on our website: http://nomoreheroescomic.wordpress.com/.

Hello. I'm Gordy and I have a confession to make. I am a lapsed 2000AD reader (please don't hit me!). I stupidly let my subscription go during dark, dark days of unemployment and evilness.

But I'm back! A friend told me I had to read Dredd: Origins. I did, loved it, and am now dedicated to returning to the warm glow of 2000AD.

So could anyone please help me out by telling me the key Dredd stories I should track down from recent years to get back up to speed with what's happeneing to Old Stoneyface? Also, recommendations for other stories, TPBs etc I should pick up would be greatly appreciated.
