Bloody Hell Dave- Wish you'd shown me that at Bristol! Dogbreath would really have liked that.

I'm fairly sure you did see it at Bristol last year but it was at the end of my folio. By the time you got there you were already telling me how much you wanted the strip ahead of it. Dogbreath can still have it if they want it. I fell out of love with it after Simon Bisley called it shite, shortly before he signed my arm and called me a c**t.

Anyway, this is an art thread so here is some more art. The first page of that Dredd strip I was showing around Hi-Ex. It's not quite finished as I have just noticed the eagle pad in the last panel is missing a few lines (curses!).

I wish I could colour faster...

I agree that GUNNM is a great manga series though fans have been picking out swipes and copies from it for a while now. I think it's due to the manga having been created at a time when manga as a whole had not broken through to the west so the artist felt more confident in being able to take a lot from western comics.

Despite all the swipes in the series, the artwork is absolutely fantastic though the stories get progressively worse as the series goes on (as with most long manga series).

Dave Thomson, you are one from Spinal Tap, or possibly a much better replacement for Robin of Sherwood than Jason Connery was.

Thats the nicest comparison anyone has ever made of me! Thanks, Jayzus!

My avatar to the right shows what I look like but it wouldn't be any fun posting in this thread without a photo. So here is one from my college days, posing with the rest of Team Ramrod and our rubber band powered egg flinging device. I'm the chap in the red t-shirt holding our "Def Leppard Rules!" distance marker.

Managed to fling an egg about 50 metres using 100 rubber bands

Thanks everyone, after seeing all the awesome art collected here I felt I should post my best piece. Now that I have it posted, it will all be downhill from here...

I'll be entering the art comp Jim, no need to worry.

Creative Common / Re: Small press stockists

Deadhead Comics in Edinburgh stock small press comics, well they have a couple of thoroughly worn copies of Khaki Shorts. Compared to the local FP round the corner that makes it a small press mecca.

I haven't been to Glasgow in a while but I do remember there was a comic shop called A1 comics, they might stock some small press stuff.

Here is my only 2000AD illustration, done last year for Bristol.

Now that I've signed up here, I guess I'll have to do a few more. Not like this one though, it took a whole bloody week!

Welcome to the board / Re: Hello, I'm new here...

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! Sorry I couldn't get a post in earlier, I have been away over easter but now I am back.

-Commando Forces - Yep, thats me behind Stacey. It won't be the only Hi-Ex photo out there with me in the background. Lots of people that have taken photos with the stormtroopers out front will notice a haggard rasta chain smoking in the background.

I'm glad everyone likes my hat as it serves the purpose of keeping my monstrously unruly hair in check.

-Emperor - Strewth! I forgot I even had a Comicspace account, now I have to find the bloody password to let me in.

-Locust - Yeah man, we definitely have to get a short comic done together. You were throwing out some awesome, crazy ideas at Hi-Ex that sound like they'd be great to draw. Oh, and you'll have to remind me of that metal band you were telling me about. The ones from Florida who used keyboards, I'm thinking it was Necrosis or something like that. Sadly I got baked between you telling me about them and me getting to a computer.

-Buttonman - Ah yes, I remember that conversation and fear not, I have no fear of being outed as a stoner after all everyone in Scotland seems to be getting high.

Now I had better get posting some art in the Creative Corner!

Hey Dan, I'm the guy in the black rasta hat talking to Locust at the FutureQuake table in one of the photo's.

Great, fun time at Hi-Ex, will have to go again next year!

Ah reading all this is bringing back all the memories from the weekend, I had a great time there, met loads of you, spent far too much on comics and got lost in Inverness.

Getting there and back by train was no fun at all, nice scenery but 3 and a half hours without a cigarette is a tall order. I'll have to try and go on the next Hell Trek!

Hi everybody, I was a lurker but now I will become a regular poster. I met a few of the fine, upstanding members of the board at Hi-Ex and am now thoroughly looking forward to becoming a part of this thriving community.
