Wow, look at me - two posts in a year! Blimey!

Am hoping someone can give me a little image help.

I'm on the hunt for images of Dave Gibbons' pre-2000 AD work...

I've drawn a blank so far - particularly on images from Powerman (Gibbons ones, not the ones Brian Bolland has posted on his website) and Hotspur - so wondered if anyone had original copies or original artwork they wouldn't mind scanning?

Cheers

Best of luck with that, MM! I recently tried (for no other reason than boredom) to track down online examples of Dave's pre-Tooth stuff with little success. I couldn't find anything on the DC Thompson stuff that predates Powerman.

I dunno if you've already seen this, but I did find this:

... as part of this CBR piece.

Here's one I've only just turned up for you:

A job for Marvel dating from 1975!

Hope that helps ...

Cheers

I know. Kinda hoping someone will have the first page of his Iron Legion story from issue one of DWM, which I remembered really vividly from when I was a kid.

It does indeed, mate - cheers!

I'll confess to being slightly gob-smacked by that Marvel job -- there's barely enough of Gibbons' style in there to be recognisable, but there's a credit right there at the top of page one, and the lettering is unquestionably Dave's.

Cheers!

Just chucked in here as an oddity:

How harsh is that ... to be a a really good artist but not be THAT Dave Gibbons!

I have the two Wagner/Mills/ Gibbons collections. Don't have time to scan them though.

One that he drew was for Wizard from DC thompson, I think it was called The Shark Men somewhere around 1975, I have them, but I dont think Illbe able to dig them out in time.

If people are Googling "DC Thomson" they would do well to use the correct spelling.

I missed out on being able to help with the Captain Britain scanning Panini were doing (by one issue!!) but can help you here as I have quite a lot of the early issues just minus the transfers (OK they are stuck all over the inside covers, as they were meant to be) ;)

Do you just want the scan or I can send it somewhere if required?

While digging them out I found Blake's Seven #1 and 17!! Ian Kennedy and Phil Gascoine drawn stories, respectively. Happy days.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Just for the record I also have this, which has a Freefall Warriors story in it (not the first one though, seems to be an original standalone sequel):

There is some lovely stuff in those specials, I have these too (plenty of droids on day release there):

He's done some seriously nice digital matte paintings though!

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.
