I've got this military type jacket with a badge on it. I got it out of a second hand shop quite a while ago, and I've always wondered where it came from and what the badge was all about. It's obviously some sort of Commie badge, but I wondered if any of the armed forces personnel who frequent this site would have come across it before? My uninformed guess (and the heavily quilted nature of the jacket) says eastern Europe, perhaps the Balkans or something? Any Ideas?

Just a little rough and tumble, Judge man.

You could ask the Ask Any Question people and have it as your free question - you would have to describe it or or perhaps they wouldn't object to a web link if you send the question via the form on their site.

Buttonman

That's the uniform of the Red Gypsy genocide and dog bothering squad. And you've been walking about in it for how long?!

No insignia I recognise, try a search among the battle for stalingrad units.

My brother has been in to military history for many years so I sent him the picture and asked him about this.

This is what he thinks....

"               That badge looks like it has been "home-made" or designed to go with the jacket itself,
lots of clothes seem to have pseudo-military insignia on them lately, depends whats in style at the moment. The style of the badge itself is typical of 1950-60 communist design either Chinese or Russian. depicting revolution through armed struggle hence the rifle and red flag, the arm holding the rifle doesnt appear to be a uniform so it could depict a "worker" taking up the call to revolution ? "
Dumb all over, a little ugly on the side.

Anyone recognise this?

It appears to be a soup ladle or lacrosse equipment?
I saw it on a camouflage shirt so I assume it is military in origin.

If I were to make a guess about the insignia, I'd say the former looks like it should belong to communist anti-fascist partisans, and equally that it isn't in it soriginal or official context.

The latter is clearly the symbol of the Greek goddess of posters and greeting cards, in her aspect of victory over good taste.

Cheers lads- though it is sewn on pretty crappily (looks like by machine) it seems well enough made. After a power of googling I came up with this...

COMMANDO FORCES

I'm sorry Dog Deever but what do you take us squaddies for.
I will say it once and once only, "I have Never come across any military insignia as I'm not a pervert, well not that kind anyway".

stress:
maybe it's a hurling stick?
Perhaps it's a badge of the elite Hurly regiment of the Irish Army, famed for using hurling sticks in World War Two as their main weapon, used to devistating effect on unsupecting germans.

My turn, anyone recognise this one?http://www.comfortshoe.com/ariat_logo.jpg">

COMMANDO FORCES

Is that the Horse Shoe Tossing Regiment based on Ariat.

johnnystress

good suggestion Max!

But at this point I'd like to say "a hurling stick" = a hurl
