who here's read this worth chasing up?
Not out yet. Also now called ROK of the Reds, due to the possibility of unwelcome legal attention from Hasbro over a certain Space Knight.
I think BHP are hoping to have #1 out late 2015 or early 2016.
Cheers

I've read #1 (because I lettered it) and it's great fun. Imagine Tharg demanded a Roy Of The Rovers-style strip for 2000AD from the Wagner and Grant droids. Dan Cornwell does a top job on the art and the artist formerly known as Abby Ryder delivers top- itch colours.
Cheers
Jim
I'm really looking forward to this, hopefully it gets released sooner rather than later.
Used to love Hotshot Hamish
Any news on this? BHP comics new website will be up this month according to my searches, but nothing else pops up.
It's out now, John and Dan had some on their table at LFCC today.

Picked up a copy at the Capital Sci-Fi Con, and it's not bad. As with all these things, it'll need a few issues to really rate it, but thus far it looks interesting with a sorta throwback feel. Script wise rtoo early to tell as I mentioned, but it's Wagner and Grant, so I'm prepared to invest the time to find out. Cornwell's art is nice, and suits the story (as I sede it the now anyway) very well.
So yeah, go pick up a copy folks!

Thanks for that - I got confused as people had it but the otehr linkie talked about Pre-order. Is it officially out Wednesday via Diamond then?
Yup
Convention launch with Mr Wagner & Mr Cornwell signing. With Wednesday as the general issue.
I am looking forward to this.
I'm going to overcome my loathing of the "beautiful" game and pick this up based solely on the creative team! :D
Exactly how I felt dweezil. It does look like it may be a good wee run though.

Ha, ha Ghost MacRoth!
Fingers crossed it's 2000ad-esque enough for me to quash my prejudices! ;)
As I mentioned, it may be a bit early to properly judge, but the first issue was a decent read, no filler pages like the IDW stuff, pretty much cover to cover comic strip. Worth 4 quid of anyone's money, and a wee half hour of yer time to read it.
Ooooh, is this out at last? Yeah, i'll take some of that please. Hope it'll be on Comixology.
Reviewed it in the usual place (https://judgetutorsemple.wordpress.com/2016/03/04/rok-of-the-reds-wagner-grant-cornwell-bulmer-campbell-includes-preview-pages/).
I really enjoyed this!
Got my copy today! Highly entertaining comic. I'm no huge footie fan, but you don't have to be to enjoy this. Recommended!
I'm definitely checking this out but its been hard to track on usual ebay comic shops? :)
anyone else managed to purchase this from eBay? looking but to no avail!

Thanks Jim really looking forward to reading this! :)
Have it ordered already and next issues pre ordered. Thanks again mate :)
managed to pick up a copy signed by Wagner for cover price at the Lawgiver con yesterday.
As a guy who loved Roy Of The Rovers this certainly appeals to me, and the added sci fi element just makes it that much better. The art is solid, the story fun.
Looking forward to seeing what the heck Rok (who is Rom?) is up to, and to hearing more chatter from the stands.
I too loved roy of the rovers and cant wait for this to be delivered :)

At any other time i'm sure this would have slid, but as some people will know ROM just got a new ongoing series from IDW so he's once again in the forefront.
Im still waiting for this to be delivered! :)
The first issue arrived this morning and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Really cant recommend it enough! I've already preordered next issues. :)
Picked this up the other day as discussed elsewhere. Won't be trade waiting anymore. Fantastic stuff!

Yeah, the first issue was a bit great, can't wait to nab #2!
Issue 2 is just as good i'm pleased to report! Surely this comic should have a higher profile? Its great stuff! :)
Is there any possibility of this getting a digital release?
The first issue was great nostalgic fun so I went onto BHP's website to pre-order the second one. Unfortunately they wanted £7 including postage. Obviously that's not their preferred sales route! I'll stick an order in with my local shop.
John and myself are selling signed copies of the books on FB. Either contact us on there or on the Rok of the Reds FB page itself. Issue 3 should arrive from John possibly tomorrow. I have copies of 1-3 signed by both and John has copies signed by just himself. £5 each via PayPal if anyone's interested
Just this evening read issues #2 and #3. What can i say this just gets better. Couldn't recommend it highly enough! :)
Had one at ECC, got 2 directly off John and signed by him and Alan, look forward immensely to 3.
Really looking forward to getting my sweaty mitts on these.
I picked up 2 and 3 today - fantastic.

Thanks for the comments regarding my Nerd cave Dave, Colin and Zach. I finished reading issue 3 of Rok yesterday it was the best one yet. Even though I don't follow football I got the same feeling reading this issue that I used to get reading Harlem Heroes when I was a kid...will they win the match! Loved it! :D Looks like I have to leave my little patch of Nerdvana in a moment :( I'm being dragged round some garden centre to look at plants!!! :( :'( Now if they were Triffids...
Picked up issues 1,2 & 3 from John at LFCC yesterday and devoured them on the train home. Sublime. Really really great. Looking forward to the next 3. Chatting to John he says they are selling ok but could sell more so if anyone here is waiting for the trade please don't. These are worth the price of admission as singles. Funny, quirky, exciting and with great art. Classic british comics the way they should be done. Really brought me back. Buy buy buy.
Just ordered #1 - #3 direct from Dan.
Really looking forward to reading these.
Very highly recommended, first 2 are great fun.
Just finished issue 2 tonight, with No: 3 winging its way to me from the excellent Mr Cornwell. Top comics!
Got issues 1,2 &3 at LFCC a great fun story with the feel of a classic British Boy's comic story but done with a modern twist would highly recommend this to anyone who likes comics outside the standard superhero range
Well went straight to the source and picked up signed copies from Dan Cornwell of the first 3 issues. It continues from a fantastic first issue and builds supremely. Best compliment I can think tof give this is its like the best of the Hibernia collections. It's just good old fashioned comics done for today's market. Such a shame the market isn't any bigger these days for this type of stuff. Quite fantastic.
It's a cracking read, isn't it! I just hope the lads can live up to their early season promise. It's still early doors and it's a game of two halves.
The highest praise I can give to Rok is that it's prog worthy material. Thats high praise indeed!
Issue 4 of Rok of the Reds now available. If you're interested in a copy message me here or on Facebook. £5 per copy signed by John Wagner and myself. PayPal payments.

Where's my god damn like button?! After the shite news of the day and an all around foul week I look forward to getting a new issue of Rok.
Yeah while the passing of Steve Dillon will mark the day this is a piece of good news. One of the best comics out there, Dan you have a Facebook message from me.
Nice timing, looking forward to picking up 3 & now 4 at ThoughtBubble.
Cant wait to get this signed beauty. Absolutely love this comic. Its like reliving my youth reading the likes of the 'New' Eagle before i 'graduated' to 2000ad! :)
It was horrible news about Steve Dillon, I absolutely loved his work. Never fortunate enough to meet him myself, but from what I've heard he was a great guy. A massive loss to the 2000AD family. Another one. What a terrible year. I loved his unfussy lines and wonderful story telling. An absolute legend.
I do have issues 1-4 available, all signed by John Wagner. £18 if anyone wants the bundle(http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b410/danjackota/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0696_zpssr6e4ie6.jpg)
Loving this series.

What an absolute bloody joy this comic is. I mean really its quite superb. Firstly it smells bloody wonderful. A very under-rated trait that, the smell of a comic.
After that its everything that's great about the kids comics I grew up with, with just enough of an edge to make it feel contemporary. Its just superbly crafted entertainment.
Of course it not without problems. My beef this time is page 7 and while okay we can't see all the pitch it seems pretty clear to me that Jez Andrews is in an offside position when he scores... and yep that's my biggest complaints.
If you haven't bought this comic then take up Dan's offer of a full set of sided editions. It'll be the best £18 you spend this year!
There's an Exeter player out of view on the other side of pitch. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Issue 4 is the best yet for me! Folks you need to check this comic out. Really is fantastic stuff! :)

The lads have played another belter! The veteran Wagner opened up his pen and showed his class while the wonderkid Cornwell displayed a wonderfully cultured right hand to seal it for them.

The word is: yes. The focus is on getting the print issues out right now, but BHP informs me that digital editions should be starting to surface before Christmas, although Comixology's labyrinthine approval process means that Rok may not appear there until the new year.
Just a note to say you can still purchase signed copies from me. Bundle deals too. 1-3 for just £10 or all 4 for only £14 with £2 P&P. This will become a classic John Wagner collection so here's your chance to get signed issues!

At TB I was lucky enough to snag a copy from Abby Bulmer. JW sold all the copies he'd got with him.

Anyone know when the 6th issue of this is released? Loving the story thus far!
Looking forward to issue 6 as well. I picked up 4-5 at the 40th bash. I followed John Wagner's instructions and didn't read them until I received 1-3 in the post from him. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Quoth Sha of BHP on Facebook:
"It's in this month's previews, so order up at your local store and it'll be good to ship end of April..."I imagine there's a bit of lead time shipping the book through the retail distribution chain, so Dan and John will likely have copies to flog before it's in the shops.
JUST GET ON WITH IT! YES, GET ON WITH IT!

You're far too kind. I was quite pleased with the logo, though! The design process with Mr Wagner was most refreshing.
Me: "I thought we could go with something like this?"
John: "I like that. Let's use it."
Heh, I can actually hear him saying that as well.
Refreshingly no nonsense.
I've finished it. It's magnificent (and I don't even like football). Abby has a few pages still left to colour, but barring natural disasters, it should be out towards the end of April.

No date yet. I'm pretty sure there will be, but I suspect John would like to flog as many singles as he can before we do a TPB!
Then after the TPB how about a nice oversized hardback 'letterers' edition :)

The old 'cup of tea' defence... it's objectively great! Give it a sip!
Honestly cant remember last time I was so excited to read the last issue of a mini-series! The praise and love on this forum for it is great to see. Lets spread the word people!
I got the Trade version at the Glasgow Comic com (which John & Dan kindly signed 😄) and have just got round to reading it and I really enjoyed it. Took me back to my Roy of the rovers days but with Aliens 😁.
Speaking to John there will be further adventures from RoK and for the launch there will be a RoK bust, which looks fantastic, up for grabs as part of a competition. So will look out for this.

Problem with the Jocks is they have no sense of humour about themselves.
As well as racist creator profiles, the brand new Rok Of The Reds (https://www.rokofthereds.com/) site offers one lucky reader the chance to captain Radford as they take to the pitch next season. Also, sponsor the team and get your name/company name on the strip or the stadium.
You'll need a copy of the first book to win the captain competition, available from the Rok Shop (https://www.rokofthereds.com/shop) (free post on orders over £20).
