Not wanting to do more than have a bit of fun.

This might be Halo, but its not my Halo.

Anyone else got a favourite misinterpretation of a character?

Hi guys

I know these issues are a bit out of love in the era of lovely Hachette books
but I need 29, 39 & 40

To swap I've got 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87 & 88, 93, 94, 95

Issue 94 has the funky huge Dave Gibbons glossy poster still in it. Happy to swap - let me know what you've got.

or maybe as a premium subscription for £1 a month more
(where did I get the idea of premium subscriptions from?)

Finally got back the last four books and a book case today.

I've now got 1 - 519 in bound volumes thanks to Chiefy2shoes (for inspiration) and Hollingsworth & Moss bookbinders (for perspiration)

But no more, ever. (Maybe not never. I do like the Meg vol 1!)

Really would recommend the binders and also iPost as a cheap method to get them there.

News / Millarworld buys Netflix - correction
07 September, 2017, 04:11:35 PM
In a correction to a previously reported story, Scotland author Mark Millar has in fact bought the online broadcaster for an undisclosed sum.

In a clarification interview Mark explained "It all got very confusing. I brought suitcases full of cash, so did the lawyers from Netflix and each of us thought we were buying the other one out".

An otherwise uncharacteristically tight-lipped Millar would initially not give away his plans for the company. However after downing two bottles of Whiskey and an Irn Bru Soda Stream concentrate, he shouted 'RED RAZORS the MOVIE meets BIG DAVE'.

(mods please delete this cheap joke at your leisure)

I wanted to send him something to sign.
I vaguely remember his son on twitter.
Anyone got anything?

https://forbiddenplanet.com/events/2017/08/23/launching-2000ad-collection-forbidden-planet/

23rd Aug 6 - 7PM

They mention a free poster - hopefully this will be Boo's spine artwork as I cant imagine he'll really be signing the Horned God.

Be really cool to see his spine artwork in all its glory - I love a good 2000ad 'cast' picture.

Any chance for ICE Birmingham where Fabry is appearing?
#49
Just an observations but I think the 40th Anniversary and the newly announced Dredd TV series have led to progs increasing in value.

I'm mainly referring to the 1 - 300 range but the days of people willing to offload anything serious in the range for beans seem to be over.

The Judge Anderson / Bolland issues 149 - 151 have gone sky high and the Dark Judges storyline are in growth.

So if you've sat on a pile, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Just gone through my progs again and
I need:

252, 254, 255, 256, 257, 258
298
312, 325, 326,
368
420,
439
443, 444
522
532

So 17 in total. Has anyone got nice reading copies without names written on the front cover?

Classifieds / Eagle comics SWAP SHOP
07 June, 2017, 02:59:16 PM
I know there's some love for the 'new' Eagle on the boards.

To complete my collection of reading copies I need issues 254 - 265, 300
and also, the second to last issue, December 1993.

I do have some swaps of the rarer & more expensive final monthly issues

1991 - June, July, Sep, Oct, November, Dec
1992 - Jan, Feb, April, May, June, July, Aug, Sep, Oct,
1993 - Feb, May, June

The monthly issues contain chunky reprints of Computer Warrior, Thirteenth Floor, Doomlord so there's a lot of Wagner/Grant nostalgia as well as Dan Dare painted by David Pugh (the only new strip by then).

Also got a spare of the Eagle comic 17th June 1989 with the nice Ian Kennedy A3 Dan Dare poster with new and old Dan's.

Anyone able to swap some?

Hi guys. I could really do with buying these all from one person, or at least the majority of them.
I'm in Milton Keynes - willing to travel an hour if necessary if you can't post.

I need clean copies,
with no writing on the front cover
of the following progs:

142, 143,
155 - 181
235
245 - 253
262
291 - 298
304 - 318
321 - 323
325 - 334
337
340, 341
346 - 349
405
414
426
432

I should say if cash doesn't float your boat, I'd happily trade for artwork/sketches or graphic novels.

Classifieds / Wanted progs 119 & 121
28 February, 2017, 10:15:17 AM
The binding project continues and stalls!!!

Got a £5 waiting for a neat copy of either with no writing on the front.

Both from the Tornado merger run.
One with a Bolland/Dredd cover and the other with Moonraker/Roger Moore cover!

Thanks for your help

I knew the prog size was trimmed after the Starlord merger. But can anyone tell me the numbers of when it changed and then changed back?
Arrrrrh you can't even trim other issues to this reduced size without losing artwork!

Classifieds / Wanted Prog 225

Hi guys
Could anyone help? I'm about to miss a binding deadline as I can't find this issue.
Would £5 spur anyone to see if they've got a double.
Just clean and nice, no writing but doesn't have to be perfect white etc.
Thanks - stressed Mat

General / New 2000AD Binding from Prog 1
27 January, 2017, 04:37:02 PM
I got the first three 2000AD volumes bound thanks to a recommendation by Chiefy2Shoes.
He'd already used http://www.hollingworthmoss.co.uk and they have been really good.

I've had them done as half-years so progs
1-26
27-52
53-78

Hoping to get the first 520 done is I can afford more back issues.
Hollingsworth showed amazing attention to detail and have a really clear price list on that link.

(Don't know why pics are being shown on their side)

It would be fun to have a six week 'merger' with Third World War and New Statesman appearing in 2000ad just as if Crisis had only ceased publication in 2017. Could be fun with 'Big News Next Week' etc and seeing new and old characters on the cover.

Classifieds / Ian Kennedy 'Dredd' for Sale
15 January, 2017, 08:13:31 PM
Hi guys
I can see in the 2000AD 40th Anniversary thread that there's some people who would love this.

I'm only selling because I bought the wrong colour, I need a Yellow background one to match my other IK ones.

So here's the deal

1. Happy to sell it at cost price £50, I'm not making any money out of it
2. It has to go to someone who isn't going to the event as I'm not depriving Ian of money and I'll publicise who gets it, so it'll be a bit embarrassing if you rock up on the day
3. If there's more than one buyer I'll sell to the boarder with the highest number of posts, so its a regular who gets it.
4. Its not to be flipped. These are clearly worth more than asking price so I will hunt you down if you try. And I've got more Ian Kennedy eBay alerts than you!

Other Reviews / 2000AD Script Book
12 January, 2017, 04:00:22 PM

I found this probably one of the best 2000AD purchases I've ever made.

Because it publishes the script against the finished artwork, you can have a lot of fun figuring out how the artist solved/avoided/ignored/embellished the writers request.

And then after looking at individual stories you can compare different writer styles, from John Wagner's economic direction to John Smith's 'worthy of publishing as prose'.

Also it contains the first reprinting of Lawless which is always something special.
Its a pretty heavy tome as well
