This is excellent. Yes, comparisions to Shaun of the Dead are going to be inevitable, and that's no bad thing, but if anything I'd say it feels more like a movie version of Left 4 Dead, with added humour. It's worth seeing for Woody Harrelson's ass-kicking and that awesome cameo.

Yeah definitely on the must-see list. Saw the review on Film 2009 as I hadn't read up on it previously, and it sounds fun.

Buddy

Really looking forward to this... will go see it on friday night.

COMMANDO FORCES

Trailer looks good so I think I'll have a quick peek at it sometime next week.

Your mom. That's what's with running fucking zombies.
He's only trying to be what following how his dreams make you wanna be, man!

Buddy

Seen it, liked it.

And they are not
zombies, they have a type of mad cow disease transfered to humans via a dirty burger
.... so they can fuckin run if they want to!

Keef Monkey

Definitely going to this over the next few days, looks hilarious. Feel a bit spoiled for choice with this, Pandorum and Halloween 2 all vying for my viewing time. Hopefully be able to fit it in!

COMMANDO FORCES

I shall be watching this tonight, once the missus has gone to bed.

Saw it, loved it.

And for the record, Im all for running zombies ever since that ambulance got swarmed in Return of the Living Dead!
"Send.... more.... paramedics...."
Shamblers are dull.

And 28 Days/Weeks Later had runners too (I know, they weren't "technically" zombies either...) and they were also great.

I think the running zombies look crazier. Seeing the swarms of blood covered "infected" running at the camera in the 28 films was pretty scary, more so than a load of people shuffling around moaning "braaaaaains". Although, my mate is of the opinion that the shambling zombies are scarier because even though they are slow and apparently stupid, no matter what, they will still get you. There's a certain logic there.

I'm with your mate on that one.

I prefer the shamblers because in old school zombie movies it was always really easy to get past them or barricade yourself against them, so if things inevitably went wrong it was always because of human error, and in the Romero movies it was always a human cock-up that ruined it for everyone. With the runners being more of a constant threat there's less of that human element that made the stories so interesting and unsettling. Still, Left4Dead is quality and has runners so I'm not against the idea.

I know this a large and very long-running debate elsewhere in the interwebs, but hey it's nearly Halloween.  In my inexpert view, Runners are so different to 'traditional' zombies as to represent a wholly separate type of supernatural threat.  Shamblers to me represent death through the grinding inevitability of numbers, Runners more active and immediate individual-level conflicts, in many ways more akin to werewolves than the undead.  It's hard for me to accept that Runners are actually 'dead' if they're as fast as/faster than the living.   That's not to say I don't enjoy fast zombies, they're just an entirely different thing.
