Hey Thargs Droids, hows about a new logo for the big one in a few weeks time?
The old one (acrosss the top of the prog) looks like it's had it's day and never really looked like 2000AD (Zeros) more 2oooAD (letter 'Os' ) - which is all sorts of wrong really apart from in a 70's comedy sketch.
I like the fan logo though & you should very much bring this back to the fore & keep it going.
Ta muchly

The design of the current masthead and the comic's very name (furthermore, the brand) both go against conventional thinking, but arguably that's kind of the appeal.
The current logo is only 2 years old.
It's not been that long since the JDM logo was aligned to the 2000AD logo, so I doubt there's much desire to misalign them again.

The comics name is not in question, I was glad they didn't change the name to 3000AD or something godawful. I suppose it's personal taste, but forgive me when I say that 2000 is a number rather than the number two followed by 3 letter 'o's...
I take the point that they have matched the meg's fonts to the prog in recent years and that it's only 2 years old, but that's never seemed to stop the design team in the past, I recall one logo was for less than a year I think...

They're zeros. 0s look like Os. Making 0s narrower than Os, (or slashing a line through them), wasn't really a thing 'til a few decades ago, (mainly 'cos of computer programming, I would imagine).

They're zeros.
I know they are, but as I said - it maybe personal taste - that they don't look like they are to me. I'm expressing a personal opinion which I know isn't to everyone elses taste. Of this I am aware.
I merely thought with the 2000th issue there may be a chance of a design change too, no harm in asking is there? (or is that a daft question on here these days?)

So, what would make them look like zeroes to you?
Jacqusie has a point, albthough I don't agree with with his general position - all previous 2000AD logos, even the more ghastly ones, have had more vertically elongated zeroes than the current one, potentially making them more visually distant from notionally ciircular Os. FWIW I think the current logo and cover dress work very well.

If I were Tharg for a day I would quite happily revert back to the fan logo enlarged with no mast head. But I know that's living in the past, yet it did happen once before after 3 mast head designs gave way back to just the redesigned fan logo, which I though gave the art more room & the cover more impact.
However I also know you have to rack the progs in WHSmith & the mast head logo does a job for this, it's just again my personal taste that I don't like the fat bottom's on the '0'. They look more like machined nuts to me.
The logo re-design question - this being in the suggestions - wasn't a bad shout out I thought, after all when we hit prog 949 the fan logo blew up with Rogue Trooper cover... and for the next week we were all treated to this beauty... :| Zargasm ey?

It's not just that the logo is relatively new, we were treated online to variants as the droids compared options and reasoning behind spacing, barcode, etc. The prospect of Tharg juggling prog 2000AD content and also deciding to rejig the logo is about nil*
Never looked at the zeroes and thought they resembled anything else.
* I said 'about'. He could.
I hated that '90s masthead design! I love what we have now. I hope it doesn't change.

I'm not being funny Richard, but I don't see that much difference myself. Still I seem to remember it wasn't as if we had to wait too long for that one to go the other one when the prog suddenly shrank!
Ah well what is in store for the mighty 2000 prog will all come to pass soon enuff, as long they don't change the name ey?
;)
I was wondering what this 'fan logo' Jacqusie kept referring to was? Had some squaxx/fan/reader submitted a logo and Tharg'd used it one time and I hadn't noticed/remembered? So I Googled it and realised Jacquise meant this:

Yes, I suppose it does look like a fan you'd use to cool yourself down with, doesn't it.
Personally speaking I don't think the original logo has ever been bettered 'though I do have a soft spot of the 'chrome' logo but now I'm just showing my age! :-[

Could I have done with one of those logo fans during the FCBD2016 signing in Orbital! So hot!

Although some of these look more like you're going to get spanked by Jesus.

The 'fan logo' started life attached to a MC1 wall in prog 555 (later to be homaged by the same artist - John Higgins - when it made a come back in the 2000's)
I was known as the 'fan' logo after it was used in a small B&W advert back in the 90's - the top of a very pretty patterned logo was seen against a ladys face - hence the name.
Then again, the Jesus fans look pretty too, maybe we have a winner for the next logo!
:)
At some stage in the future Rebellion will no doubt change the 2000AD logo or masthead – when they have a logical reason to do so.
Most of us will have a soft spot for one of the older logos. I rate the original one but I don't think any of the 2000AD logos of the past will cut it. They just aren't versatile enough for what is required nowadays.

I do like the current logo, so see no reason to change it particularly.

That's it, thanks for finding it! I thought it was a smart little advert - the detail on 'the fan' was lovely as are the eyes... you won't get that with the current logo!

What are you on about? The logo in that advert looks more like the current logo than your 'fan' version.

See the patterned fan against the ladys face in the picture below her eyes? It's the top of the logo that began with prog 555 as pictured.
The tall, elongated looping 2 and '0s - and this advert I suppose - made it known as the 'fan' logo...
Same as on the spark plug, except without the fripperies decorating it.
